Anyone still think Hartlepool are dead and buried?

I think they may stay up.

As for us, nothing's changed, our performances of late have been abysmal despite some new signings, so I stand by my prediction that we'll end up finishing bottom.
The second bottom spot is between Tranmere, Hartlepool, Cheltenham and York. As I've said I fancy pools to stay up, I still think tranmere will string some wins together at some point.
So Cheltenham or York to join us.

What's your point? If a side's scrapping at the bottom then it's all well and good them putting the effort in but the fact of the matter is they're probably pretty cr*p. Exeter, for example, turned us over last weekend at our place. Mid-table team with little to play for, they come to us and completely outplay us. Our best hope is outscrapping and/or outplaying teams near the bottom, as our game against Cheltenham showed.

You know what's my point. You've said it yourself in one of your posts - 'sounds like a near-certain draw'. Whenever a game's labelled as a six pointer then it likely means both sides will set their sights on not conceding/losing.

All in all, I consider an away point for Carlisle as good, even more so as it was a direct clash, and I also think York are in a slightly false position.

Yep, I still think they're gone as they've left it too late. They may have won two games in their last 5, but tbf, those wins came against the Dons who don't have a very good away record, and today at Morecambe. Now I didn't see our 2-0 away win over Morecambe but reports said they were very poor.
Presently Tranmere look the more likely to go down. 5 defeats in their last 5 games is terrible form, especially when you take into account that relegation threatened sides generally make a bigger effort towards the end of the season.

It's always worrying when the team below you in a relegation battle is a so called 'big team' like Tranmere because you always fear that they'll come good somehow. Even though it's looking more likely you still feel like it would be a massive shock if they actually went down, and if they do save themselves then it's likely to be us, or possibly Cheltenham.

No matter how many games in a row they lose, it is difficult to shake that feeling that it's only a matter of time before underperforming stars kick into gear, injuries get sorted out, they bring in some experienced heads or whatever it is that's holding them back, win four or five games on the bounce and are suddenly out of it.

91 consecutive years in the Football League. It was a good run.

Fwiw, I still think Cheltenham will go down together with Pools, even though Tranmere's upcoming fixtures look more tougher on paper.

Exactly this. I'm convinced they'll go on a run at some point and save themselves, a bit like Notts County did towards the end of last season.

Hartlepool won't survive (for about the 5th time).

There is not a chance in hell we are going on a run. It's all kicked off in the dressing room apparently. It's us and one other.

Hartlepool to catch tranmere up and finish second the bottom... Possibly stay up by a point, won't be on goal difference.

All Hail Keith curl if Carlisle go down

You went on an unbeaten run around or just after Christmas if I remember rightly. At least that shows you're capable of stringing results together if you get your act together.

We've proved over the course of the season that we aren't capable of putting a run of results together. After any positive result there's always a string of poor results just around the corner.

The concerning thing is as the season draws towards the business end, we seem to be getting worse not better. This is why we're nailed on to finish bottom.

We will finish bottom. It's a distinction I'd like to be claiming, but believe me when I say we have gone backwards since you beat us. I dream of playing as well as we did when we played you. We are putting a run together for sure - 5 straight defeats. I honestly think we may see us end the season without another win.

You've beaten Shrewsbury since we won at your place.

See there's another thing you are capable of that we aren't. On your day you can beat the top sides in this league, where as we've proved over the season that we aren't capable of getting anything from any of the top 7.

Fortunately though we've played all but two of our games against said top 7.

Although..

What I wouldn't give for that man to still be our manager. Ronnie's a battler, he's exactly what you want in this situation. Yes, we were on a bad run under him but we went down from L1 by 4 points and I honestly believe if he had stayed we wouldn't have. Hartlepool, game on!!

We play tranmere away next sat.

I can see us losing there. We did not play well today against accy.

All is not lost - you are hardly cut adrift

I think the fact is that we had the opportunity to go 9 points clear of relegation - we were 15 minutes away at Portsmouth from being 6 clear going into the Cheltenham game. We collapsed, went in 3 clear, ended it level and it's spiralled from there. Those 15 minutes could have wiped all the belief out of the squad, but it's the last 4 games that have sapped it from the fans.

Don't give up hope.

Blackpool fans can give up, not tranmere fans yet....

I'm sure there will be more twists and turns in the Next ten games.

Feel very similar about our game against Shrewsbury. Going into injury time we were going to go 7 clear of the drop-zone, with a third win on the bounce and a good one against one of the best sides in the division. Conceding those two late goals just seemed to impact the squad morale and we very quickly went from their to finding ourselves inside the relegation zone, and thank God our next game after that was at home to Cheltenham, because anyone else would have probably found us lambs to the slaughter.

Tranmere to beat us on the last day to stay up and consign us to the P/O on the final day.

A lot of people keep saying Tranmere are gonna pull away, but their own fans seem to believe they're going down. They are on rotten form at the moment and are in a dangerous position.

Hartlepool keep picking up the odd win here and there, still have time to escape but I don't think they will.

Us and York were both terrible today, but a point was probably better for us with it being away.

It's only natural for fans of the teams down there to think they're getting relegated. We were exactly the same last season and weren't even in the bottom 2 for a second.

You'll beat us in a couple of weeks. We're abysmal away from home.

They will.

They won't. People always look at the gap and panic because it doesn't look as unattainable as previously. However, people tend to forget that aside from catching the teams above, they need to overtake them and stay there. There's a reason Hartlepool have 30 points, they're not very good. I saw them play the other week and they are still not very good. Moore has done fantastic to have them as close as he does but they've still dropped far too many points under him.

If they are to have any chance however, they will need at least 6 points from their next 3 winnable games. Although at present you don't see it, yourself, Tranmere and co will win surprise points here and there now we're in the final 10 games.
