Still think Notts will at the very minimum make it interesting. I know people said the same about Chesterfield last year but they do have money and they've got form for a fair few great escapes in the past when they looked down and out.

Morecambe are done this season in my eyes. No way they're staying up. We put in a horrible performance against them and they decided to shoot themselves in the foot to give us a point and it looked like they were at their best, particularly in the second half. We have the worst away record in the league (before today anyway) but if you can't beat us at home on one of our massive off days then I'd fear the worst.

My former hero Luke Varney will save Cheltenham with Billy Waters. Cambridge/Yeovil/Notts for the other spot. Sol is gonna keep Macc up and I'll be very glad if they stay up. Think along with Tranmere they're one of the local teams I actually don't mind so I'd love them to stay in the league.

I would be disappointed if we didn't stay up now. Campbell is very good tactically and he's even got some of our no-hopers from the start of the season playing well (Rose, Smith, Kelleher, MWH to name a few), so it's just a case of picking up enough wins to get ahead of the others.

As for our rivals, Notts have given themselves a lot to do having lost to all their relegation rivals in the last couple of months. Morecambe's nack of throwing away points late in games seems to have landed them in a bit of trouble. I'd have said Yeovil and Cambridge were in big trouble but their recent form has given them some breathing space.

Our game against an out of form Cheltenham next weekend is a big un.

Yeovil's games in hand are away at Lincoln and Oldham I think, and from what i can see on LiveScore (so could well be wrong) they're penciled in for mid Feb and mid March so unless they keep picking up points in the meantime, they will quickly become must win games.

Notts are now effectively 3 wins from safety if no one else picks up points, which after 4 wins in 29 is getting less likely every week. It would be one of the greatest escapes it they turn this around now.

I think this will defo go down to the last day with possibly 4/5 teams involved.

Big Sol's already done better than I expected. Genuinely expected him to pack it in wondering what the fuck he's doing there after 3 games. Fair play Macc are doing alright.

We're playing well at the moment, even with several people injured. Still a very long away to go and we gave ourselves such a massive task to survive.

The general quality in the league (bar the top few) is far from spectacular, and any of the bottom teams can win against the mid table/playoff chasing sides.

Massive win for us today without Pope, Montano, Whitfield or Legge, Crawley looked very poor today and could get dragged in.

Macc aside who have done extremely well most teams seem to be hitting form then dropping off again so still hard to call. Morecambe had a decent spell, Grimsby did what we did last Year I.e turn into world beaters in December talk about play offs then seem to have dropped back off again.

Notts County need a big turn around... Like Chesterfield last year you keep expecting them to turn it around but as yet nothing. I might be wrong but didn’t 3 of their 4 wins come in a 3 game spell too? They’ve had a few six pointers and been beaten lately so looks bleak.

Cambridge seem to have hit a small bit of form too of late and Cheltenham as with Grimsby have tailed off.

Shame despite our win we are no closer but are on a par with our tally this stage last season and didn’t win again until Easter so all being well an improvement on that will keep us up. 5 wins should do it with the odd draws thrown in. Maybe even 4.

Big February for us with six pointers at Cambridge and Cheltenham and hosting Morecambe... thankfully two are away as we are strangely in great away form but dire at home!

It’s an interesting one as everyone last season said chesterfield would turn it around. They’d got the ground, the attendances, a decent recent history (all the irrelevant stuff which means nothing) but yet had a team that could not win a game, they kept saying they change it around, December, January all came and went, and by the time they realised the game was up it was too late. Sounds the same at county.

That said, hardy roundly mocked the Mansfield fans in the summer saying county would get out of league 2 this season. Well done lad.

Even ‘making it interesting’ looks a miracle now :surr:

Most of our fans have accepted relegation - only chance we have now is we have 2 weeks til our next game and we need to get in probably at least 5 new signings that can go straight into the team in that time. But pretty hard to attract decent players when you are six points adrift at the bottom.

Fancy Morecambe to be joining us in the NL next season.

One of Yeovil's games in hand is against us at Whaddon Road - we have that game on all below us and Cambridge.

Our saving grace is that the three games we have coming up now are at home.

Difficulty Notts County have is getting an overhaul in January you haven’t the time to bed then in and gel the squad.

When we went down Brown signed loads in January but it we just struggled to get them gelled in, Chris Eagles needed time and was probably a few weeks too late, Bikey hadnt played etc.

Big couple of weeks.

On a side note who would of thought Solomon Campbell would actually turn out to have some substance behind his greatest mind quote!

Thought you were the worst home side in the league!?

We still got play Cambridge Notts county Cheltenham away Morecambe yeovil and Macclesfield at home what we do in those games will most likely decide if we stay up. We don't score enough goals that's our problem only 27 league goals is embarrassing.

Big win for us again. 3 wins from the last 3 have given us an 11 point gap to County - if they overhaul that, we’re down.

In terms of the rest - us, Yeovil and Macclesfield all winning a couple of games this month has pulled everyone up to Grimsby into it now, whereas two weeks ago I thought it’d be two of the bottom five. So things look a lot better for us now.

We’ve got two away games at Exeter (expect to lose) and Cheltenham (if we can nick a draw, that’d be handy) before Port Vale at home which is the big one for me now. Despite winning last weekend at County, our away form is shite on the whole whereas we’re generally picking up enough wins at home.

Home to us, which is Tuesday.

Big couple of weeks.
Big month if anything!

Lincoln (h), FGR (a), Mansfield (h), Newport (h), Tranmere (a) in February for Notts.

Looks like our home form may save us, 20 points from our last 9 home league games, and our remaining home slate looks pretty good. 4 of our next 6 away but three of those are Cheltenham, Yeovil and Grimsby, if we can get 4 or 5 out of those three it'll put us in a decent spot.

Shame Macc keep winning but it's gone from 3 for two spots to 7/8 for one since Christmas, makes it a lot less daunting than it looked after we got gubbed at Morecambe.

I've been thinking the same about you lot keeping in winning at home! That turnaround today could be your biggest win of the season. I see your home form keeping you safe, so hope you roll over and have bellies tickled on the final day!!

I'm at the stage where i'm now checking upcoming fixtures for our rivals.
County next 3
Lincoln H
FGR A
Mansfield H

That is a huge ask to get more than 4 points from those games.
Yesterday was huge for us and a big surprise, hopefully dragged one or two more into the mixer.
Couldn't call it but it is looking grim for County.
Pity as one of the best away days out

Swindon and Bury away next for us. See you soon.
Not sure we can get a point a game until the end of the season.

This is looking really serious for Notts County. The board should know if they don't escape relegation which is looking increasingly likely each week, the club could be stuck in non-league for many years without some kind of solid contingency plan that ensures they are sufficiently well prepared and knowledgeable about life in non-league to stand a good chance of a swift return. It took Luton, who are arguably a bigger club than Notts, five years to get out and they amassed more points than any other club relegated from the league (it was the 30-point deduction that pretty much killed their chances of survival before a ball was kicked). I've never worked in project management, but I imagine this is a common and important component in any organization, considering a parallel what-if scenario, and devising a plan to deal with it accordingly. It does no good being in denial and thinking Notts are a big club, this can't and won't happen, the reality and what the league table is telling us is that it's very likely to. Have the board communicated or given any hint with the fans as to what they'll do should the worst come to the worst?

Notts look fucked, it's that time in the season where if they were going to avoid relegation they'd have started showing some glimmer of hope already. The likes of Hartlepool and Newport, when they pulled off their great escapes had already started to look dangerous, and Macclesfield right now look like they're making a fight of it but Notts are still poor all round and you just wonder if sacking Nolan was the right thing to have done so early in the season.

Those next three look unlikely to yield anything really for Notts considering the easier run they’ve had of late.

A lot of our rivals seem to be playing each other of late so hopefully we’ve got the better run after already playing Lincoln and Colchester twice.

Our remaining glimmers of hope are:-

Under Ardley our three best performances have been against Tranmere, Bury and Colchester. We beat the first, missed a late penalty to beat the second, and were 3-1 up against the latter when we conceded a freak deflected goal and a dubious penalty. So maybe playing some good teams rather than those around us might be a good thing!?!

We've got Boldewijn, Hemmings and Kellett coming back from injury who are our three most creative players, so maybe they can do something.

Very much clutching at straws, but hey. We also don't play for a fortnight because Newport are in the cup, which is no bad thing either.

I'd write off our hopes of catching anyone from Yeovil upwards. We've got to hope that Macclesfield's form is a new manager bounce type thing that can't be sustained, and we've still got to play Cheltenham and Morecambe so could plausibly haul them in. All a big ask, though.
