Its from twitter on unofficial vale he sometimes gets them right sometimes gets them wrong. Guthrie may have been shite at Bradford but he tore us to pieces at vale Park when they beat us 4 1 a couple of years ago. We wanted sign him last year but he chose Bradford instead. We can't sign anyone though untill players leave so we need mckirdy and Robinson gone.

Robinson is better than Guthrie.

He's back over here now, someone on one of our forums saw him playing for someone step 8/9 level side and coulnd't believe he was still going.

Been all over the place hasn't he?! England, Korea, Scotland, France, Russia, India(?).
Haha yeah I like his few years travelling to foreign lands. Nice, Pohang Steelers, Daegu FC, Lokomotiv Sofia and...Hamilton Academicals.

The spell in Korea was actually before he signed for us, we signed him from Daegu FC... since he left us he's remained in England, playing in the lower leagues. He'll be one of those like Julio Arca or Pascal Chimbonda who will keep playing even when it's Sunday League football.

This is probably still my favourite moment supporting Carlisle. The celebration was amazing too.

With this new points based immigration system being used in football as well, doubt there will be many foreign players signing for lower league clubs in the future.

No more Vale/Oldham style experiments.

Didn't know this was for football as well, is it the same system as the rest of the country?

I started to watch the following clip about the impact of Brexit on football but did lose a bit of interest after working out that it is probable that teams higher up the pyramid will start to hoover up any talent from lower down...Brexit the gift that keeps giving!!!

Oh wow, I have to say I'm really surprised by this, not at all like the teams higher up to benefit from the imbalance and adversity of those lower down than them.

Grimsby Town are one of the other clubs chasing Jake Taylor with both Vale and Grimsby making an offer.

Where have you got that from mate?

Edit: Just seen this Port Vale's League Two rivals make move for Nottingham Forest's Jake Taylor, is that where you read it?
Yeah we’d heard a few days back, his agent is a Vale legend and does a lot of our commentary so not much gets hidden from us!

Your manager confirms it as well today.

It’ll go one of two ways, he loves the club we know that and was very thankful for how Carol treated him with a car when his got broken into but on the flip side he won’t know who the manager is to be at this stage which may swing it Grimsby's way.

The lucky boy what a great choice for him between two massively in-form teams.

18 year old Ethan Walker has been recalled by Preston. He came on as a sub in each of our first four games, playing on the left wing, before injuring his shoulder falling badly in the trophy at Sun'lan. He looked OK in those games where we were struggling in the league and we might have planned to bring him back as he's close to returning to action but not to be.

Not sure why we've done that unless another club is interested who can promise more game time.

Probably, we've improved a lot since he's been out and if he did return to us would probably be a lot less likely to get a game, especially with Brennan Dickenson's return from injury.

He must have looked at the league table and then swiftly made his decision.
Well yeah but then only playing once in the last few weeks tends to effect the league position.

In the league? When I looked up his appearance history on Transfermarkt, it showed him coming on as a sub
Havent looked but I swear I remember him starting against Barrow at the very least.

Carlisle already top, keeping hold of their better players and now bringing in league 1 quality strikers.

Quite rightly now 3/1 title favourites. Can see them running away with it tbh.

Copied and pasted from the Crawley fans forum.

Clubs now have to apply for a Governing Body Endorsement (gbe). Basically the fa has given the different leagues around the world a "standing". The higher the standing, the higher the points. Fair enough, a player would get more points for playing in the Bundersliga than playing in the Sudetenland Sunday League division 5. As an aside, they have to be playing not just in the squad.

International appearances also counts towards the points. Again a tiered system. A player will earn more points playing for Spain than they would for Samoa.

Some interesting players would not have made the gbe points total when they transferred to the UK including Riyad Marhez.

Top international stars will have no problems signing for UK clubs. In fact we may see more Brazilians as it will be easier to sign them. The place it will affect the most is the academies and the championship.

Watch for angry managers complaining they can't sign the next greatest thing from some far forsaken land because he doesn't have enough gbe points.

Interesting link but most of the details you will have to pay for.

How many of Brentford's moneyball b team recruits or Vale's foreign legion under that Portuguese manager would have qualified?

Also I'd imagine it will be harder to bring in overseas managers/coaches as well?

A foreign player or coach in the EFL will become pretty rare you'd think? Good for local talent at least.

Have to readjust to signing dodgy Jock keepers, arthritic old codgers and local alcoholics.
