I like Hiram, had a tendency to drift through some games not doing a lot but then on his day will just decide to win the game on his own.
He’s been immense for us so delighted to get him until the end of the season.

Boateng signing is huge. If we can just hang on in or around the play offs until he’s back from injury then I’m convinced we’ll either make automatic or be bloody close.

Pleased Habergham has got sorted. Would've been cruel for him to have had to retire from a wear and tear injury having dropped out of FT football, to then work his way back up successfully and have it taken away from him again.

Get Bradley Wood back at RB and you've got 75% of our 2016/17 defence back together.

I’m pleased for him too but also sad for him that he’s had to sign for this shambles of a team.

Winchester to Sunderland now confirmed. Was out of contract in the summer and couldn't really stand in the way of a move like that, big loss for us though, been absolute quality.

Jake Taylor has turned Grimsby down so may be some movement on this soon, rumours Salford are sniffing though.

of course you could and should of got in his way. He was your captain and you are on the verge of promotion.
You should have kept him until the summer then move your own ways.

I guess its the league we are in and the fact some teams near the top are losing there better players.
I put this on a post earlier this week about Carlisle.

Tbf when clubs the size of Sunderland or Barnsley come in there isn't much you can do.

Just hope that the likes of Godwin-Malife, Collins and Adams stay until the summer at least, the first 2 are out of contract then though so might be hard to resist if we get a good offer and I'm sure scouts will have been watching them, Dokes in particular.

That could be what Cambridge meant about Mullin. Can't stop him talking to other clubs in the last six months of his contract, but if they want him to stay he will stay. Usually though the thing is, if you tell a player he can't go to a bigger club in a higher division he might be unhappy and his performances will suffer... also if you're offered money for a player you're going to lose for free in the summer, the decision may be taken out of the manager's hands.

Sucks if you miss out on promotion but there's the risk that you miss out on both the promotion and the transfer fee, or that you would have been promoted anyway and have missed out on a transfer fee for nothing. Business types don't like risk and I think a lot would choose the certainty of getting a decent transfer fee for a player over the uncertainty that the player will prove the difference between promotion and not.

Cambridge perhaps feel that Mullin is more likely to be the difference between promotion and not

I don’t expect Mullin to command a transfer fee with six months to go that we would find acceptable, especially given the limit on transfer fees for League 1 and 2 clubs under the Premier League bail out. We could only accept an offer from a Championship club (or Prem - haha, as if that’s happening) as they’re the only ones who could offer us enough and I think the jury is out on whether he could do it at that level, plus he’s not exactly a whipper snapper either.

I think we’ll keep him til the end of the season then he’ll go for free. Not much we can do but I’d rather keep him for this reason and lose him for nothing in the summer and have a chance of going up than lose him for a crap fee now.

I fully expect Mullin to rock up at our place this summer, we turned him down last summer i dont think we will make the same mistake twice

We have money to spend and Matt Taylor has said he is looking for possible signings.
We need a top class centre back or two, but also wouldnt complain about another decent striker to play alongside Bowman.

I guarantee Mullin will be a 1 season wonder - bit like Doyle last season.

Mullin was barely average for us a couple of seasons ago. He’s just a real good fit at the moment.

I love it that when any player who is doing well the Bolton donut spouts about them signing them. Delusional.

Doyle is not a one season wonder......Scored 1 in 2 for a team this season that up to now has given him limited service
And i think the Swindon donut sprouted that Twine was not good enough for lge 1 all season

You really cannot see a decent player Delusional

And just where did I say that?

Doyle was more than a goal a game for us. Less than 1 in 2 for bottom half Bolton?

The only chance we have of keeping Mullin is getting promotion. If we don’t he will go to a northern club in league one so you won’t be signing him.

Doyle has had a varied career, he was a machine at Chesterfield, then been meh on and off for years until Swindon. He’s a good league two striker but nothing much more and does seem to need a certain team to fit him.

Mullin is probably a one hit wonder. 26 never had a season like it, probably on confidence at the moment.

Pope scored 33 for us in one season (not a single penalty) but never got close to that again.

Ricky Miller got 42 in one season won’t ever get close again.

Seems a right fit for Cambridge this season though.

We've been linked with Posh right back Niall Mason. Reports seem to suggest we have agreed a fee for him

20 goals in Jan would suggest he certainly good enough. A league one club will take a chance on him no doubt about it. There has been a lot of scouts at our games. Either way he won’t be in league two next season.

We need a striker this window and another one when Porter is let go at the end of this season. I expect us to sell a player or two which would give us some money to spend but I don't know if I'd take Mullin. Seems to play in a 2 when I've seen him and we just wouldn't give him that opportunity. It's the reason we cancelled Zanzala's contract because he looked useless in the lone striker role that Mandron excels in.

Agreed. He’ll be in League 1 next season as he’ll cost nothing to whoever wants to take a risk free chance on him or he’ll be with us if we’re in that league and can get close on wages.

You need a manager who can build a side in the manner in which he wants to play. Spotting the average player that turns into a good player in a good side is an art.

Bolton’s approach seemed to be to sign L2 ‘s leading striker and L2’s leading player of assists - Sarcevic - and hoping they’d reproduce that. But it’s never that simple. As is being proved.

I dont see it he was hawked around lge2 clubs in the nw last summer with no takers.]
1 in 6 striker until this season. We fancied Doyle, Tranmere Vaughan and Salford Henderson
Cannot see that changing in the summer and can see him at either Port Vale or Mansfield next season

Our biggest error was that our new owners are good business people but know nothing about football.
They brought in Peter Kenyon on a advisory role and he reccomended a DOF.
Again they were naive bringing in Tobias Phoenix who had previously worked for...wait for it Macclesfield.
We signed 22 players this summer i would say 15 are simply not good enough for lge football.
One good thing Phoenix did was bring in Evatt.
He came in as head coach with Phoenix as head of recruitment.
Evatt is so confident in his ways but his ways have been a disaster at times, yet he is stubborn and it takes him time to see that he is wrong, but eventually he does see it.
Phoenix went in December, Evatt promoted to club manager and we have discarded maybe 12 of those 15
Evatt was also blessed that he had a good crop of youngsters at the club and he does not mind playing them.
The three players Evatt brought in Kioso, John on loan and Lee are equal if not better than Sarcevic, and Doyle

So i am happy with the direction he is going on quality

We have missed Politic who is out all season so i can at least now see the green shoots of roots starting to show

It will be Crewe or Accy if he wants to return to div1
