Our biggest error was that our new owners are good business people but know nothing about football.
They brought in Peter Kenyon on a advisory role and he reccomended a DOF.
Again they were naive bringing in Tobias Phoenix who had previously worked for...wait for it Macclesfield.
We signed 22 players this summer i would say 15 are simply not good enough for lge football.
One good thing Phoenix did was bring in Evatt.
He came in as head coach with Phoenix as head of recruitment.
Evatt is so confident in his ways but his ways have been a disaster at times, yet he is stubborn and it takes him time to see that he is wrong, but eventually he does see it.
Phoenix went in December, Evatt promoted to club manager and we have discarded maybe 12 of those 15
Evatt was also blessed that he had a good crop of youngsters at the club and he does not mind playing them.
The three players Evatt brought in Kioso, John on loan and Lee are equal if not better than Sarcevic, and Doyle

So i am happy with the direction he is going on quality

We have missed Politic who is out all season so i can at least now see the green shoots of roots starting to show
Hoots, you need boots and toots for those shoots and roots

He was done for sexual assault while at Donny, I would stay away
Already dividing opinion on our forums, and we haven't even signed him yet.

We sacked one of our players last year for a much more serious 'alleged' sexual criminal offence against a 14 year old girl, I say alleged as not due in court until this summer. The ex player in question has also recently been sacked as an Amazon driver after they found out.

I'm therefore surprised we are being linked with someone who is still on the sex offenders register

I have no clue to the circumstances of Niall Mason's case but I'm really conflicted over these footballers who have done time for sexual assault.

On one hand I cant help feel they are scum and deserve all the hatred and trouble that comes their way but on the other they have completed their sentence and they have to be reintergrated into society somehow.

If they can't go back to their previous jobs; what they are trained for what are we going to do with them...on the dole for the next forty years?

Then I think do I want someone like that at my club?

Rumours Jake Taylor has agreed a three year deal and will be unveiled tomorrow.

If so absolutely chuffed to bits, cracking player and hit 7 for us in 3 months from midfield last season before his injury.

Also seems our club has more leaks than the U.K. government prior to any announcement considering we all knew Askey had gone three hours before!

I dont see it he was hawked around lge2 clubs in the nw last summer with no takers.]
1 in 6 striker until this season. We fancied Doyle, Tranmere Vaughan and Salford Henderson
Cannot see that changing in the summer and can see him at either Port Vale or Mansfield next season
He went on loan to Cambridge in february and signed for them when he wasn't offered a new contract by Tranmere. He wasn't hawked around anywhere. Can i suggest you utilise your love of fantasy by trying to be the next JRR Tolkein. You certainly have a vivid imagination.

Chasing Leeds striker Ryan Edmondson, he’s been on loan at Aberdeen for the first half of the season.

Three and a half year contract, I'm impressed.

Great investment and glad the manager going didn’t derail it. Not like us to beat off competition to a signature either. Wonder what the fee was.

Yeah, the chances of us signing him were slim due to his Vale connections but a three year contract definitely would have sealed the deal. If he watched the match on Saturday as well that would have probably eradicated any doubts he had.

Apparently our offers were pretty much identical from what his agent has said and does seem to have come down to I think he had his mind set on coming here all being well. Salford did try as well but were limited by the salary cap seemingly so that could be something watch with them going forward this month.

We will likely have to de-register McKirdy I would imagine from the first team squad though as already up to the limit of players aged over 21.

McKirdy was a waste. Jake is ten times the player overall.

He turned Grimsby down Friday so Saturday didn’t make an impact. He had been asking about Vale and would have come in the summer but by time Forest decided to loan him back out we’d used the squad quota.

Like Rodney a 3 year plus deal but a big sell on for Forest and a good investment for the future. If we get the Jake from last season where he was a 1 in 3 goal man from midfield then I will be absolutely chuffed.

We've signed 20 year old midfielder Isaac Hutchinson on loan from Derby until the end of the season. Was previously at Southend. Has been given the no.7 shirt vacated by Carl Winchester and our DoF reckons he can help fill the void, so hopefully he's up to it as those are big boots to fill.

Fair enough, I'm fairly glad we haven't signed someone on a three year deal to be honest. However, if what you're saying is true then we're offering these deals. Hopefully if we are offering these bigger contracts then we've got relegation release clauses in those contracts so we can clear as much budget as possible if we go down.

One of our youth players last season who it was clear to see did actually have some ability but seemed to throw his toys out the pram a little bit when not playing and imagine got fed up with late wages and the shit show we ran last year and who could blame him. His dad is a cock though a proper know it all, set up various accounts on the clubs forum spouting shit constantly, a proper nob.

Interesting to see how he does at a much more settled club in a team performing well.

What was the set up with young Curran when he was with you. Everyone our end says his dad is paying his contract as long as he is in the first team squad and an seemingly permanent place on the subs bench, in return for investing in the club.

Can't say I know anything about Curran tbh. There wasn't really any noise about him being on fringes of the first team or anything like that then he was transferred to you was all out of the blue.

Peter Kioso recalled from Bolton to Luton I see.
Sorry not sorry. I fancy him to push for a place - I guess Bree may have had a recurrence and Crainie is still in sick bay.

Edit: Evatt has speculated that one of our players has long Covid. What a nice thing to speculate about on another team.

Evatt's a bit of a knob-head really.

Vale have confirmed that Harry McKirdy has been deregistered from the squad to accommodate Taylor under the 22 squad cap and is free to leave the club if he can find elsewhere.

Was really the only decision you can make here. I didn't like the signing at the time as he certainly in no way met the profile of a John Askey player on or off the pitch and its clear Pugh has similar thoughts. Hopefully for his sake the penny drops with him as that's two clubs who were all too happy move on from him in quick succession. Doubt he will be getting many more.

Plus Crewe had him and didn’t seem keen to go back for him when available!

Our fans haven’t took to him at all, I know some were winging because he threw Whitfield over the hoarding and caused trouble at Crewe in that 2-2 and his antics for Carlisle last season.

Talented but a complete and utter waste, considering the injuries we’ve had he should of been a great option to throw in and cover Woz and Monty, as it is a lad we’ve signed from Bradford PA has jumped in front and took his chance with both hands!

Taylor is a good signing and I hope he does well like he did last time but the way some vale fans are chatting on Facebook and twitter you would think we have signed Dennis bergkamp.
