Find that a strange signing unless McNulty is leaving. 5 first team centre halves at the club now - and seems to be injury prone. Admittedly he can play in multiple positions which is handy. First signing of this summer that I'm not sure about.

Shaun Batt has become our latest signing. Seemed to be used mainly from the bench at Orient if I recall correctly, but always looked quite decent when he came on.

I dunno, he was playing first team Championship football until his injury issues so he's obviously got quality, a good age too. God knows what it means in terms of playing time or outgoings, that'll be interesting to see. I can't imagine he would have signed on just to play development squad football.

I'm lost.

Someone do some rumours....where's Kenny End?
If you insist - here's a bit of comedy gold:

I would see this as one in for one to go out. KMB most likely, or maybe someone else is in for Yiadom as he doesn't look like playing at right-back this season?

He has his qualities and no doubt will stick one up on us on the first day of the season.

He is quick, strong and will cause defenders a lot of problems with his physic, for a tall strong guy he is very very quick.

However, he is injury prone, has major issues with his fitness (completed 90mins 6 times I think in 5 years for 3 clubs), after 60mins he tended to fade and his end product is not consistent enough. For a right winger, his crossing is woeful. He is IMO better up front.

Great impact sub to have though, him running at a defence with a bit of confidence in him scares the life out of defenders.

He requires a lot of patience, he has his uses but his fitness is A major concern. He missed the whole 2011 after breaking his leg.

Decent enough signing for League Two though, but we wary of his fitness!

I'd agree that he looks more like a striker than winger. I think it was Brentford a couple of seasons ago that he came on, scared the life out of them running at them and scored.

We have SEVEN centre halves at the club still counting Lacey and Franks. We need to start shifting some out now.

I quite like the sound of O'Brien even if a centre half wasn't neccesarily needed, he's still young so if he works out we could have another saleable player on our hands. To be honest i prefer this type of signing than a 29/30 year old whose been around a while as you're just not going to flip them for a fee at a later point and he should be hungry to succeed here after some injuries and not making it at a bigger club.

Got to say I think McNulty could be gone as well as Lacey and Franks, he faded badly at the end of last season and can you imagine him if he isn't getting regular game time?! He'll be huge.

Has Franks played much for you? I remember thinking he looked like an excellent centre half when I saw him play for Welling.

It's only going to feel worse when you lose to us on the opening day.
No different to watching you beat us 1-0 with a 9th minute header from Linvoy Primus with Ray Wilkins in our midfield, oh those days were funny :bdick:

I suspect you might be right. I will be properly gutted if/when Sumo leaves though, as cult heroes goes he's way up there for me. An absolute hero in our Conference pissing season and was fantastic for two thirds of last season too. Hope he gets fixed up somewhere good if he does leave.

Not really, was first choice alongside McNulty at the end of the conference winning season but lost that when we signed Wilkinson last summer. Ive always thought he looked a bit shaky and when called upon this season he has been very poor. Neither he nor Lacey seem tenacious enough to play centre half and both seem a bit timid to me, Franks perhaps less so.

I personally think his level is a conference centre half.

Huddersfield have supposedly agreed a fee with us for Kyle Dempsey.

Image won't work. Describe it to me, or draw an artist's impression and upload that instead.
TransferRumours @AgentRumour Twitter feed suggests that Colchester Cambridge (edit: possibly City???) and Swindon are interested in Freddy Adu following his release by KuPs in Finland. Much to the amusement of fellow U's.

Was it worth the wait?

Sounds like he's had some real rough luck with injuries in the past. He played a full season last year I think, so hopefully he's turned a corner on that front.

Alex Lacey played for Dagenham & Redbridge in a pre-season friendly last night.

It's a pity that bridges were burned with some of the travelling Barrow shoe removers when he was at Fleetwood (as a part-timer). Even so, he might find another Conference Championship of interest. The Jones/McNulty partnership will live on in legend - was it really 10 years ago?.

He could get a League Two club no problem I reckon. He'd improve a lot of teams despite his limitations.

I could see him ending up at Tranmere though, that rumour has surfaced once or twice earlier in the summer. Decent wage and close to home.

He's the worst player I've ever seen score a hat-trick. Still not sure how he managed it.
I've seen Steve Flack score a hattrick in 14 minutes or something. True story.

Ha!

Decent enough signing for League Two though

I disagree with this, I was so sure he'd be non league bound.

He's a big lump that can run fast. He has 0 ability as a footballer. One of the worst players technically that I've seen at League One. His pace and his strength can be an asset as he's like a battering ram, but most of the time when he comes on he'll fall over or dribble it out or something. 0 awareness as well.

I agree that his technical ability and awareness is limit.

He will ruffle a few feathers here and there and earn points as a supersub, but his fitness issues mean he will always be a supersub or a 60min player at best. Always thought he'd end up in with Crawley, Barnet, Southend or Colchester TBH.

That's impressive, but I'm still confident Batt is worse!
Ha, you must have never seen Flack play! City legend but capable of missing open goals from 5cm.

Those were the days....
