We're just about to sign Trevor Clarke, defender from Rotherham. Luke Thomas, midfielder from Barnsley and Sion Spence, midfielder from Crystal Palace U23's.

There is a bit of that for me as well, leaves a bit of sour taste especially if you seen the statement put out by the club.

And I'll think he'll do well in L2. He's got pace, power, can create and his finishing is getting better. He's a better player than Gime Toure for me and the last time I checked he was doing alright with Carlisle (?)

Fuckin ell I wouldn’t worry. Rupturing your knee ligaments used to be a guaranteed career ender, nowadays it’s moving to Mansfield.

Tbh, i think hartlepool will follow in mansfield’s foots steps, i think if you come up you normally do in a much better state than when you went down (sadly not so for macc).

Also the difference between the conference top half and league 2 isn’t great at all.

For said reason it can be easy for you to recruit well, ride the wave and do well in league 2, sadly we didn’t embrace that finished in mid table struggled massively the next but still here 7 seasons later.

I can’t see hartlepool struggling though

We'll struggle right now as we only have 9 players signed on (one transfer listed so essentially 8), it's currently a minor concern but DC reckons we'll have a squad of 22 by the time we play our first friendly in 8 days, we're either going on a recruitment glut or we'll be home to the Trialist family. :bl:

How much did you pay for that lad that’s just signed for Sutton United on a free?

Why haven’t you mentioned that one loads like you have with Mansfield then!
because my post was in response to you (a Mansfield fan) saying Hartlepool would probably have a season like Barrow did last season... and as you've just nicked one of Pools players i'm sure they would be very happy to do the double over you.....

I don't have anything against Mansfield so I dont give a shit if we beat them or not. Get to 50 points, who they come from I couldn't care less.

Well the Mail reckons Sterry is re-signing but they also said that about Oates.

I'm confident we'll get a reasonable defence together but replacing 35 league goals is going to be much harder.

I'd of been happy if we managed to kept one of Oates/Sterry so it would be massive if he signs on.

I'd resigned myself to losing Oates, Armstrong we sadly had little chance of matching wages for him, DC is just gonna have to pull another wonder signing out of the blue again, none of us could've imagined the impact Oates had when he signed him, he looked like a last minute panic buy but turned out great.

I was told yesterday that Sterry had signed & would be announced soon.
Then 20 mins later Oates was leaving,so one piece of info was correct.

Double signing for us at 10am. No doubt half of our supporters will complain about something.

Elliott Nevitt from non league and Callum McManaman from Melbourne Victory. McManaman is an impressive coup.

is Callum McManaman any relation to that skinny beanpole who used to play for Liverpool?

*Edit - googled it - distant relative...

Linked with Paul Mullin, but I imagine he’ll land at a L1 club.

I may well be completely wide of the mark on this but I really get the feeling with Mullin it’s a case of buyer beware. I just think last season was a one-off and don’t believe he will come close to replicating what he did at Cambridge again wherever he goes. Personally if I was him I’d have recognised I was on to a good thing there and stayed with them.

Loved Sid Nelson. Proper old school brute of a centre back, loves heading the ball away when the boots are flying. Seems like a total nut job on the pitch. Good signing in my eyes.
Id agree with this. Dont expect him to be pretty on the ball but he will put his head anywhere. He got unlucky with injuries here. Everytime he would get in the team he would get injured a couple of games later. The injuries could have something to do with the way he plays.

We have also agreed a deal with Reading for Marc Mcnulty. All comes down to wages now.

That be a great signing, odd for him to go to L2.

He`s a good lad. Brave as a lion and not scared to put his head in where it hurts. The number of times he broke his nose playing for us is testament to that. Also not afraid of telling those around him what he thinks if they cock up. He`ll do a good job for you OK

Agree with the comments regarding Sid Nelson, a real battler on the pitch and unlucky both with injuries and falling out of favour at Rovers. Hope that things work out well for him at Northampton.

Mcmannaman on the face of it is too good a player to feature at this level, while Nevitt has an encouraging history at non-league level and definitely worth a punt. Already a good day for Rovers, were we able to get Marc MCNulty too as White Army suggests then our promotion prospects have improved markedly.
