Singh tightening the belt - it's what he does. Doubt the club will see any of the money from the lad whose gone to Leicester.

Not one to defend Singh and despite our collective panic at the moment, let's see where we stand in four weeks time.

Also you might want to update your location to, Well below the Hangers :cool1:

It's sapped the energy out of everyone, the playoff final win was such a high and the club was riding a wave to now being beat to players by Sutton, I dunno if it's us offering peanuts or we just aren't prepared to spend big on players but it's a bit crushing at the minute.

I can guarantee they're working on deals but for fuck sake feed us a crumb of something.
Yup.
I'm trying to stay optimistic, but its eroding by the day.
Bristol seems a long time ago now.

Cullen is a goalscorer but is never fit and hasn’t been for a few seasons now. Last season he started well 2 goals on the opening day then took a knock and never looked right again.

Bennett did ok for us. Split the fan base a bit, I liked him.

Neither score goals away from home though for us!

Said it in the non-league forum - he's better than half the strikers we saw in this division last season. I reckon he's probably taken a pay cut from his Stockport wages as he (presumably) got the rest of his contract paid up in full.
Why would we pay him up in full? We could have loaned him out and had another team pay a large percentage of his wages like Hartlepool did.

I’m sure we agreed a settlement mind but the fact he’s chosen Sutton over Hartlepool suggests he’s gone to the highest bidder as he’s never played down south before.

It's been terrible since the play offs, no feel good factor pushed by the club, key players leaving, not enough support for DC. I'm sure he wanted Bennett. He must be tearing his hair out.
Who was the source that said you were signing Bennett and MSH again?

His first season with us Cullen did well even if he only ever scored in home games. The problem with him and this goes to before he joined us is he just can’t stay fit for any length of time. He never quite suited Askeys 4-3-3 system though as needs to be up top in a two I reckon.

He’s from round that way so maybe being closer to home etc he can get firing again.
We had him on loan very early in his career (when we got relegated to non league) and wide in a 433 seemed the perfect fit for him.

In Soup's defence they were name dropped directly from a local DJ during his Radio Tees programme, I don't think many, if any of us thought it would come to pass, Bennett maybe, never MSH.

Yeah I wasn’t having a go at Soup just wondered as I remember someone saying local radio - that’s a very badly informed journalist.

We just signing these players then having a bumper announcement day?
That's what Chandy likes to do so it wouldn't surprise me.

If the bloke on the radio says it, sounds like a decent rumour. But then this is Raj Singh we're talking about and actually spending money is not something he does.

If this is actually going through then it's a signing that screams bargain bucket.

I dunno he's previously scored at a better level but a quieter time of it recently, at this point I just want us to fudge our way through this first season unscathed by relegation, it's been such a short space of time we haven't had a proper close season nor a pre season.

In one sense he fits the profile of a challinor type signing, scored goals before and probably has a point to prove. Looks like a fox in the box type like Armstrong, but his injury record is awful and if we're offering performance based deals as it seems we did Oates then he ticks the clubs box. I don't think he'd be on much but we can't rely on injury prone players.

I'd say at this juncture we're one of the relegation favourites. Another rescue mission on the cards for DC. Having said that if Sterry signs and we can convince Newcastle to give us Cass until the new year or summat then there's a decent base to work from.

I,d rather Singh was tight with the purse strings at this moment.
Got to keep something back.
Think DC will just about have all bases covered by Aug 7th.

Settle down Poolies.
This what Stelling had to say on the matter.

I know fans are worried but though I’m not involved, I have it on good authority that we ARE offering good deals to players. But we came to the market late due to play offs, so it’s hard to find the right people. Expect more signings to follow Feaths, Lidds soon.

I hope so but what is it Singh needs to keep back? I'd argue this is the time to get the chequebook out so we can consolidate and not have to worry about going back to the pub league.

Another signing for the gas. Luke Thomas on a season long loan from Barnsley. Great signing for L2.

We have lost Oates, chasing the money. Good luck to him, He,s going to need it.
Could be third choice looking at the signings they have made.
Bennett did ok but 3 goals againt Wealdstone may have flattered him.
Think Sutton may regret that, time will tell.
I,ll be happy with the defence we have plus Cass if possible.

Sure let's not go crazy with the spending but we have no squad 4 weeks before kick off, officially speaking, there's no keepers, not a single striker and we have 9 players on the books, why are we still waiting on players offered contracts weeks ago, surely at some point you need to cut them off no matter how good they are, we're battling it out with Morpeth Town for Donaldson's signature, are we that desperate?

Aw fuck bollocks, just send us back down already.
Because you failed to sign Richie Bennett.

There's a player in there but he's 30 now and had plenty of chances to play at L2 level so I think any prospect of him being able to bring that player out on a regular basis is gone. He'll have the occasional good game where he has the beating of the opposition centre backs but at this level now those will be few and far between. Be surprised if he manages more than 6 or 7 goals for Sutton but they'll probably come in little bursts, he'll score 2 in a game then go 10 without scoring.

Great signing. Including the under 21 players I make that about 26 players we now have in our overall squad . With the 4 further additions being mentioned we will surely have to offload at least 4 maybe 5 of the current squad.

Don't be too despondent, todays £30,000 postcode lottery winner is in Hartlepool it could be you :)

Arguably the best signing of the summer when you consider he’s played a fair amount of Championship football and is still quite young.

Azza was ok - remember seeing him bag a hat-trick up at Bury. Think Danny Rose scored for them.
