Azza was ok - remember seeing him bag a hat-trick up at Bury. Think Danny Rose scored for them.
One or two games yes he was ok, christian jolly was the same neither were good enough at this level and thats why they were both back in the conference after one season up here.

We had a few trialists feature today. The two I am curious about are David Sesay and Josh Debayo, Crawley / Cheltenham fans, any thoughts?

Interesting that despite Rovers’ encouraging performance in the Rangers friendly, Micky Mellon made some strong remarks about needing to get further deals over the line.

Who wants a manager who is satisfied. You want a manager who wants things to constantly improve. Correct attitude.

Everybody has trialists in pre season but its rare for more than one or two to get contracts.

My mate at work who knows somebody within the club (normally about 90% reliable) tells me that we’re interested in Scott Quigley from Barrow.

I used to play football at school with Scott and my brother and his brother used to be best mates back in the day. Scott used to regularly go home and away watching Salop until he got a contract at TNS. Still lives just outside of Shrewsbury so if we do make an approach then I’m sure he wouldn’t think twice as he’s always wanted to play for his boyhood club one day.

I know enough about him to think that he’d be able to make the step up to League 1 football and I think he’d try and give that bit extra to his hometown team.

Heard anything your end Barrow fans?

Lord John; I would sign David Sesay. I would have kept him at Crawley.

He is a right footed full back who can play either flank. Without being stand out he gets the job done. He plays and the side he is on is secure.

The thing that held him back at Crawley was his ability to play either side. Put him on the bench and you have cover at left and right back plus defensive midfield.

Imho a good player.

He wasn't at our 1st at our 1st pre-season friendly and he did post on twitter earlier in the week liking something your manager had done or said - so wether that's putting 2 and 2 together and getting 4 (or some other number) i'm not sure.

Odd thing happened at our pre season friendly yesterday. A. Trialist was given a man of the match award. Nothing strange there but today the player is named on the Crawley website and praised with pictures of him receiving the award etc.

I reckon we might be signing Alex Battle formally of Plymouth and Truro. Does this count as insider knowledge?

It's been terrible since the play offs, no feel good factor pushed by the club, key players leaving, not enough support for DC. I'm sure he wanted Bennett. He must be tearing his hair out.
Torquay have offered him a deal, he's a good player but we can't fit him in anywhere.
Don’t think I’d be too bothered about him leaving.
Didnt fit into DC’s system & also DC has questioned his attitude .
Apparently likes a gauge or two.

Rhys Bennett is on trial with Burton Albion. Interesting that of our five players who turned down contracts four of them might join new clubs in groups of two, Patrick and Bennett at Burton, Farman and Zanzala at Barrow. Reckon they'd all have stayed too if we'd offered them decent contracts.

sounds like the other season where Macclesfield fans were very pessimistic about coming up (rightly so as it turned out), and last season the Harrogate fans pretty much gave up on supporting the club in the season they came up. Maybe some clubs just belong in non-league and would be best off staying there.

I have had a feeling for a while that he would be off this summer and also get the impression he doesn't get on with Cooper.

Don’t disagree but couldn’t recall Micky coming out so forcefully in previous pre-seasons and following on from an encouraging friendly result. It looks like a few more coming through the door if MM gets his wish.

He came back because he was promised full backing. Not too much to demand it.

Nah I'm not that fussed either but he needs regular games which he probably won't get here.

We have signed LB/LWB Trevor Clarke on a 1 year deal for an undisclosed fee. Dont know much about him but signed from Rotherham

I think Trevor Clarke will be a decent signing for Rovers.

He seems more suited to a wing back role than full back but he is a tough lad and can put a tackle in. (expect a few yellows)

He never really was given a chance here because of Mattock, then Olosunde and Harding playing there but I wish Warne would have put more faith in him instead of playing right footed players in his position.

When he did play, he never let us down and he deserved to get more of a chance I really hope he does well for you.

We've now missed out on re-signing centre back Lewis Cass on loan, having a medical today before a loan move to an unnamed L2 club.

We are looking a mess.

Edit: Looking like Port Vale

Why did we even bother winning the play offs?

We've had a list of targets since Bristol, so they must've all fucked is off for somewhere else.

TheAthleticUK are reporting Sterry has signed on, I hope it's true, I can't take much more heartbreak at this point.

Be surprised if we are bringing in another CB. Would have thought a RB was a bigger priority for us to be honest unless he can also play there?
