Maybe Andy should give us £30,000? Because he never seemed to give more than 70% in a game - constantly saving energy.

Good thing we've got money to waste....

What a disaster that was then, don't mean to sound wise after the event but I thought at the time we shouldn't be spending 100k on someone who was his age. He showed glimpses and wasn't helped by our complete lack of talent in the final 3rd of the pitch but overall compounds what was an absolutely awful summer dealings we had last season.

Let's hope this summers crop is a lot lot better.

Drury to Eaatleigh confirmed, a free transfer by the sounds of it. Cost us £100k 12 months ago :conf:
When we played you last season I said he looked past his best, as usual the blinkers were well and truly on.

That's a big saving wage wise, definitely needs spending further up the pitch though.

Back up for Roy coming in. Expect them to be a young one with development key

Newports signings have been terrible, don't think they'll be near the playoffs again

Not sure if this has been posted before but the word is that we're trying to sign a striker unwanted by his club and are currently haggling over the transfer fee (ie we don't want to pay one). Circulating rumours say it's Lyle Taylor, ex-Falkirk hotshot currently at Scunthorpe.

It's Scott Loach, local lad innit. I'd give an opinion but it's a back-up keeper so who actually gives a fuck. My understanding is he was really good and weirdly he's a bit crap now despite being only 27. Dunno, as I said, local lad - think his Dad comes and watches Notts a bit too.

We punched above our weight last season. This season I don't think we will do as badly as others have predicted elsewhere in this forum, but this seems a much more competitive league this season and I will be happy to avoid relegation. I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that there MUST be two sides that will be worse than us next season ... And that Butcher and Osman can repeat their success at Inverness and forge a team on a shoestring budget.

I played football with Scott as we were at school and worked with his brother. Decent bloke and was an outstanding keeper. Think he's had some bad reviews since but hopefully he will get back to his best

Bit of a weird one, rather get someone a bit younger in to take over from Roy in a year or two. Hard to care either way about a back up keeper, though.

Rumour was that we were after him a month or so ago, nothing came of it though.

Payne is too good for league 2.
I would be surprised if Posh were to sell him for £75,000 when they reportedly paid us £750,000 for him.
Would be a fantastic signing for you if true though, and there is the Hessenthaler connection there so you never know.
I'll be shocked if he comes down here. We also appear to have Connor Essam on trial, he was highly rated at your place, but seemed to fall victim to the manager merry go round at Priestfield.....!

Essam was ok, but the general consensus was that it was right that he was let go. Callum Davies is much the same, don't expect he'll be at the club too many more years.

Butcher was terrible at Brentford when he managed them in this league a few years back.

He's been transfer listed by Peterborough and apparently it is only 75k they want. I would be very surprised though if this actually happened... But we can hope!

75k is just the Twitter rumour. We'll want a lot more than that. We paid 700k for him. We won't take a 600k loss.

Good player, Ferguson's negativity ruined him a bit last season and we didn't see the best of him at all. There seems to have been a little fall out between him and the club over the summer as well.

There was some disagreement at Posh last year, as Jack said that he only found out he was transfer listed via Twitter, nothing from the club.
He was captain at the time as well
Would absolutely love him back but I really can't see Peterborough taking any more than a £3-400,000 loss on him, which would rule us out.
Orient do have money, especially as they have got some of their wage thieves off the books.

He was told. His reasoning for his tweets hasn't come out but I know 100% he was told.

Maybe everything will come out once he's left.

I maintain we're making a mistake as he's a bloody good player, but we'll go with it.

Fair enough, as with most of these things you tend to just hear one side of the story.
It is all very strange though,, as he was doing well there initially and was made captain.
In all his time at our place Jack was never a moments bother and is a genuinely nice lad.

Mansfield signed Krystian Pearce three days ago, don't think it's been mentioned.

Weird move, that. He was brilliant but hasn't been with it properly for about four years.

Krystian looked like he would play at the highest level when he was a 17 year old. I hope he can get his confidence and fitness back to where it once was

Very good finisher, poacher would be doing him an injustice as he scores some good goals but he's of that ilk and doesn't really offer a lot else outside the box or in the air, will need good service to be successful. Thought he'd drop into the Conference to be honest, but he could make it in League 2 in the right environment I think.

Mackail-Smith watch - in the squad for our friendly at Boreham Wood tonight.

Also, I notice that Notts County's chairman claimed that they could/would match any financial incentive that we could offer him a couple of days ago - per his words, if he signs for us it will be down to factors other than money.

Bird will run his socks off and will get you goals if you can get him the service. No pace but he is an intelligent player so get'a away with it to some degree.

How does Lyle Taylor even earn Football League contracts? Fraudulent at Bournemouth, Hereford, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe, surely people only sign him because of his pace and a good goalscoring record in the Scottish nether regions?
