Pretty much, I think Notts would have to blow us out of the water financially at this point for him to seriously contemplate going there given our geographic advantage and the John Still factor.

My major worry is that if someone like Peterborough made a late decision to offer him something, that would be hard for him to resist.

I think we'll be the best financial package CMS has, but obviously location and league placing are against us.

Good signing for Cambridge is Jeff Hughes, then again a lot has happened since he left us in 2010 (or was it 2011?)

It's clear he is holding out for better than Luton otherwise he'd have signed by now. If he drops to league 2 then he is most likely to sign for Luton considering he's been with them for a few weeks.
Well he was on £17,000pw at Brighton, so if he accepted an offer here he'd be taking a huge pay drop. Perhaps 5-6x less.
I'd be disappointed that, now we're at this stage where he's training and playing games; had a holiday in Portugal, that he wouldn't commit to something.

I'd agree he's holding out for better than League 2, I'd be disappointed if he signed for another side in this division having spent so much time here this summer.

If we don't sign him I really hope we've got others lined up somewhere along the line, I think our forward options look very thin.

Watching last night, it seemed like Still was preferring the front 3 option, with McQuoid and Green on alternating flanks, with McCourt just behind the striker, so signing another striker alongside Benson who hasn't featured so far, isn't totally essential at the moment.

Don't really see why we're still interested, Stead and Spencer is already as good as it gets at this level, sign someone younger.

Even with that I still think it's an issue. Benson was borderline completely ineffective last season, even pre leg break. I'd be concerned if he is being asked to lead the line on a consistent basis next season.

Kind words Saddlerrad, but once again folks can we please not compare Nottingham with Luton, on anything.

Thank you

Scott Loach signs, vaguely competent cover for Roy.

Is this serious by the way, that Loach would be cover for Carroll?

Pretty big fall from grace for him if so

Yeah Carroll will be first choice, will be the best keeper in the league tbh.

Was going to say, I thought Carroll was highly rated by you lot.

Good couple of keepers you've got there, but have to question if the wages could have been used elsewhere!

Looks like Francois Zoko has left us. We still have Frazer Shaw & Connor Essam and Jack Payne........! Lots of questions being asked on the internet as we speak......!

Should we just give up and hand you the title now. Best keeper at this level best front two at this level........

Three players. Our midfield is good too, though. Just who knows about that defence. :D

Pretty sure the Tranmere fans were as confident about their team last season as Notts.

There is no doubt about the best keeper in League 2 for the upcoming season, currently the rest is all up for grabs. I have no idea how we compare in def, mid, att.

I can only imagine how good Nottingham is for an away fan, especially if you make a night/weekend of it. I'm jealous that i'm always a home fan in this instance.

Might be Roy's last season. Wise to have a decent back up who can step up and take over if he does call it a day.

Plymouth fans won't be happy about losing their undisputed best keeper in the league status.

I recon James Shea is up there with the best keepers in the league.
