Now confirmed that Joel Lynch has signed for Crawley. Just a four month deal though.
Uncompromising centre half who has been at the club since March but only as a recovering from injury thing.

The announcement video has a couple of cracking tackles, a nice pass and two superb goals! Here's hoping.

Likely to play on Saturday?

Dave Challinor has signed a new contract. Just waiting out the 'are you hungry yet?' official announcement...

Better than signing a 20 goal a season striker that.
I know rival supporters will think thats stupid, But if they had seen what we,ve
seen during his tenure they would understand.
Thanks for the heads up, Soup.

I think the reason he has been signed is because we only have one fit centre back so yes; very likely to play.

Tunnicliffe and Dalison injured, Ransom seems to have long covid and Adebowale was let out on loan. That leaves us with Tony Craig...and now Lynch.

Apparently done deal, just waiting for the usual twitter build up.
As you say, more Important than a 20 goal striker.
But rumour has it we're signing a new striker also.
Kieran Agard has been at the club again this week, hopefully it's him.

Hopefully we’ll play our pacey options up top then!

Great news on our injury front, Lee Angol and Abo Eisa do not require surgery - meaning, they return next month.

Kieran Agard would be a good signing, very solid track record here and at higher levels.

We’ve got lb/lcb Danny Preston on trial, released by Forest and spent time on loan at Grimsby last season.

Ah, that's who he was, watched the end of that friendly with Brentford B and he looked OK against decent opposition. Having a shit season for Grimsby last term was all the rage so maybe don't hold that against him.

Rumoured to have Nicky Ajose on trial as well unconfirmed so far though.

Well, weirdly Nicky Ajose was at our game on Saturday in a Exeter city tracksuit. Turns out he’s coaching for us in the academy so not sure if he’s planning on playing anymore. The rumour is that he signed a 3 year deal with us in 2019, so we basically released him from his playing contract a year early so he could coach for the final year of his deal.

Such a shame he hasn’t fulfilled his potential as he should have been a top striker for us at this level. Our Matt Taylor basically said he wasn’t willing to do what we asked of him and therefore he ostracised him from the squad.

Tom Nichols signed a new two year deal at Crawley plus an option for a further year. 15 goals and 15 assists last season so very glad to have kept him.

Yems has said how pleased he is but that Nichols hasn't signed for financial reasons. Bit worried by that but I'm taking it as he is happy here and didn't think earning an extra £50 a week was worth moving for.

Also club captain George Francomb and Jack Powell have signed similar new deals.

That's a great bit of business for Crawley. Often the case the best business you will do is getting your current best players to extend deals rather than any player brought in from outside, similar for us with Conlon I'd say. Nichols is someone wouldn't have minded us having a look at as he played under DC once though obviously not an option now.

Not a new signing, but a contract extension - Max Taylor, signed on a free from Man Utd in the summer has had his one-year deal extended to two. He's become a regular, looked very steady and seems to be getting better with experience. Even his og v Bolchester was tucked away expertly...

We'll need him to be on form with games against Branmere, Bansfield, Burnley and Boldham coming up.

We've parted company with recruitment director Lee Turnbull. Not arsed about him personally as he's had a mixed bag of incomings but the role itself is something we've needed for years so the fear is we're ditching that to go back to giving the manager total control.

Sincerely hope it isn't the case but we shall see. Either way our recruitment needs to be better.

His strategy of signing players from us (a terrible team) never seemed like a strong one

One of Crawley's young centre backs, Harry Ransom, has joined Dover on loan.

Odd as it was reported he couldn't play for us due to recovering from illness.

Not fussed at all about Turnbull moving on, a few ‘worries’ online over going back presumably to manager led recruitment. Other than Cook (someone who realistically would’ve have very few options last January when he first signed given his wages) and Canavan who’s basically moved back home, he hasn’t signed anyone that would move us forward, in fact we brought in almost exclusively mid table L2 rejects. There’s not one player in our squad who would get into our 2013 side that went up, if we ever did go up we would need an entire new first 11 to compete.
