Like bald men fighting over a comb.

The vast majority of the clubs in this league have been non league over the last 15 years. Only about 5 haven't

Don't really think much of cambridge, Be back in the conference before their "untouched" cup money runs out, slightly bigger club than crawley. Top conference team really aint they? Still don't understand where his "we'll be in the top 3" crap has come from either

and yes you probably will do better than us, but were a proper league team slowly trying to over turn the last decade thats been the worse in the clubs history.

The above comments proves some of you have no idea about our club.

Mansfield you just about had an average of 3000 fans last season, I'm not quite sure how you can say we are a top non-league team.

The only thing you have going for you is your stadium. From what I saw last season at the Abbey (twice). Shit team and shit fans.

I'd say we're bigger than Notts County and Luton, and on a par with Pompey. Mansfield are quite clearly you're typical below average League 2 side, nothing special.

Edit: This post was in no way looking for bites. Promise.

And there I was thinking that this stupid 'my team is bigger than your team', 'we get 2000 more than you easy' dick-measuring competition was limited to the non-league forum

Absolutely pointless. Only thing that matters is where your team places come the start of May. Nothing else. Who gives a shit if you get 10k more than Accrington if you finish below them?

Good to see my post has elicited some responses. And I wasn't :bdick:. It's just that I see that 'the league's most hated fans' title is up for grabs, and thought why not have a shot at it like?

Only kidding gents so chill! My point is simple. Clubs spend according to their income, and on that basis alone, we're actually quite a well-supported side in this division. So, I don't expect the likes of Mansfield and several others who can't even get 3000 in for a home game to bring in more players on good wages than us and the other sides who get a 5000+ home crowd.

It's like saying some guy, who has a highly paid job, can afford to buy 3 cars, whilst another on a minimum wage can only afford 1. What's so hard to understand about this logic?

edit - which reminds me of when Luton fans used to get quite irritated when trying to defend their spending in the conference. If they could afford to pay more because they got very good crowds then they weren't doing anything wrong.

They didn't need to turn to their fans for crowd funding a player (ala Grimsby), so it's only natural.

MorDon, I'll take that with a pinch of salt until we let our club die....

Oh, so this is what it feels like to be Luton :bg:

We (Cambridge) are definitely a football league club. But anyway there is no point arguing about which club is bigger because everyone will pick the club they support.

Has any United fan said we'll be in the top 3? If so, then I must have missed it. I certainly said no such thing, as I'm always wary of having too many new faces in, due to the fact that new squads need time to gel. We're expecting a much better season than last year's that's all, with perhaps, a play-off push.

It may be perceived to think we're a big club who will get promoted because a lot of other fans have predicted that in the predictions thread.

Hardly any Cambridge fans are deluded. We know Pompey, Luton, Rovers and Notts County are bigger than us. And most of us expect top 12 and potentially playoffs not top 3.

Very disappointed with the Doe news. I don't begrudge him it because football is a short career and if he's been offered a wage that he couldn't turn down, who am I to comment on his life. However, this has rankled with me a bit because I'm sad to see him playing for such a lowly supported club in the division below when he could comfortably play in League 1.

It's moves like this and ridiculous takeovers which won't be able to be sustained that are killing football.

I wish Doe all the best, but I bloody hope Boreham Wood bottle it and don't go up.

I'm sure someone will have posted it somewhere but Matt Richards has been on trial with us. I'm sure Cheltenham fans will slate him whilst Shrewsbury fans will give him a good write up. From the very little I've seen of him, I'd take him here.

Mansfield fans like to be bitter about every other team.

Fantastic use of the sweeping generalization button there pal.
Reminds me to remember exactly who I am and what I think.

Clearly because WH Stag is a particularly poor trolling dick we all are? Cheers.

I wasn't waving no willy, no way. Just pointing out that "what business we have done this summer" actually translates to "how much we've spent this summer." Whether it's good business or not remains to be seen. If it isn't then it might be very costly if the kitty's all gone.

But if we're getting into it, I'm not sure that the girth of a club that's just spent 10 years in non-league and doesn't own their ground is as massive as suggested.
You don't own your own ground either, you own someone else's..... just saying like..... :lac:

Darragh MacAnthony has said on Twitter that we're now negotiating a deal with them for Jack Payne, after he played for us last night.

Would be gutting if this was to fall through now.

We might actually be paying a......transfer fee.....:fl:

Interesting story, that. Salutory lesson in what can happen when you throw loads of money at assembling an expensive team in a gamble that doesn't come off.

Well we had ours stolen off us by an ex director on the cheap, very similar to Kingstonian. Where we lost out to such a situation, you benefitted from it. Ho hum.

Good luck to the lad, but I was never that convinced by him. You'll certainly get effort though.
Matt is 1000% better that Craig if he stays fit he will do very well for the Daggers he is a quaility player

I don't think there's many/any teams' fans who've said that they aren't expecting a much better season, some people are clearly in for a big shock *cough* Mansfield *cough*.

DC has spoken to fans at an open forum at The Mem tonight and basically said he will decide whether to offer Bodin anything after Saturday's game against an Arsenal XI. He offered Myrie-Williams a contract and he rejected it thinking we'd offer more, but Clarke told him where to go.

He wants an experienced L1/L2 winger and a few loanees to complement what we already have. It was easy to gauge that he'd like to bring two or three more in if the money was there, but he certainly doesn't think the fact he can't will hinder us.

Here we go again. Most stags fans will be happy with improvement in playing style, performances and more importantly league position. Please point me in the direction where 'we', as a majority, suggested we will get promoted, finish in play-offs or even a top half finish...
