Huddersfield have recalled Romoney Crichlow which is a massive blow. I guess that's the risk getting your first choice RB and CBs on loan from clubs much higher up the pyramid that if they start the season well they get recalled - rumour is he is going to a promotion chasing club in League 1. I wish him well.
rumour is he may be coming to us. if so, what can you tell us about him? The obvious position we need someone is LCB in a three.

Now confirmed. Crichlow on loan until end of the season. Pleased as this addresses a weakness since Galloway got injured.

Our Chairman has said there will be no players joining or leaving during January, hope that I can believe that but suspect that if a crazy offer came in for one of the better players we might see a change of heart.

I know you are clear at the top, but isn't that a risky strategy? An injury to one or two of your key players could really affect you. There's also got to be weaknesses in your squad that you could enhance?

It'll probably work out fine given your gap but it's risky in my opinion.

Isnt that the point though that you get loan players to play in the first XI or you may as well use your own youngsters on the bench?

I replied in the L1 forum but he's ideal LCB in a three which is where we played him. Good on the ball, can pass well, reads the game well, good in the air, just a very decent Centre back. Gutted he's gone, that's Kessler-Hayden and Crichlow recalled and a huge problem for us as we are shocking at the back!

Yes very true. We don't have any decent youngsters and given the takeover meant we were badly hampered in our preparations we were bloody lucky to be able to bring in the quality on loan we did. I guess we have suffered for them playing so well that they are being loaned to clubs higher up the pyramid (assuming the same happens to Kessler-Hayden)

Yeah you guys must be glad you were able to assemble a team so quickly let alone one doing well.
Even though our best defender is on loan ive always been totally against the whole loan system.
The idea of 'borrowing' players seems mad when you think about it. Maybe if loans didnt exist it would stop the likes of Chelsea swallowing them all up and more money could be made by smaller clubs selling them on.

I'm sure you are as well aware as anybody that clubs always have a card up their sleeve.
I take public utterances with a pinch of salt.

Yes that has been a concern all season with such a small squad but it seems to have worked so far.

Headline doesn’t match the actual story though, which isn’t a new thing for the journo in question tbh. Tends to be pretty tabloid in his reporting.

What Vince said is we haven’t had any concrete offers, rather then we definitely won’t sell if we do. Will depend on which club comes in, how much they offer and whether the player wants to go. I think all of Cadden, Wilson, Adams and Stevens contracts expire in the summer, so we could lose all of them for nothing if we’re not careful.

Vince said the other week we’d never stand in a players way if they want to leave, so the hope is no one comes in and no one wants to go at this point given they could be getting a medal in four months time. A lot can happen in 2 weeks though.

We’ve loaned left back/midfielder Jack Evans to Fylde for the rest of the season.

Out of contract in the summer so needs to impress there if he wants a new deal here, not a bad player but has been here two years and not quite been able to establish himself.

Means we’ve got 19 senior players available at the minute, even with Adams back from AFCON it will only be 20. Two or three injuries and we can’t fill the bench. I can’t believe we won’t be signing anyone this month.

Harry McKirdy has signed a new contract. (unsure as to how many years - irritatingly it doesn't say on the official site) Hopefully the start of a few as because of embargo we could only sign players on 1 year deals at the start of the season.

Apparently we’ve rejected a ‘substantial’ offer for one of our players according to Matt Taylor. The player hasn’t been named, but the likelihood it’s either Josh Key or Matt Jay. I do worry that we will lose someone crucial this month.

We’ve signed Millwall Right Back Dan Moss on loan for the rest of the season - spent the first half of season on loan at Yeovil.

Rumour we had bid £40k for Barrow's Ollie Banks rejected. His dad played for us in the 90's

Any Bluebirds on here heard anything?

Keith Millen has decided against signing Brandon Comley. Not hugely surprised central midfield isn't an area we're particularly crying out for players in and from what I've seen of him in the past I don't think he'd be an improvement on Guy, Whelan or Devine

surely you guys can do better?

Not that banks isn’t a decent player but it just seems that Bradford should be going for somebody a step or two above, or is all the money tied up in the current squad?

I would be happy if we signed Banks. Problem we have is that we need 4 or 5 new players and hopefully get rid of some of our deadwood this window.

Our lrecent oan signing from Hearts Jamie Walker looks a decent signing. Looking forward to seeing him in action

Kane Hemmings deal confirmed. Undisclosed fee, 2.5 year deal. Scored 15 goals in League 1 last season.
We never disclose fees. I reckon about 80-100k.
Kane is a good striker. It’s a good signing.
At league 2 he will tear it up. Surprised we let him go, but we have moult who is now ready to go. He can drift out of games and be lazy but on his day he is outstanding. Ask Crewe fans last season, he scored a hat trick at gresty road.
good luck to him. Top bloke and a Albion fan. Sad to see him go.

heard nothing about Banks and Bradford- and theres no way we'd accept an offer like that. Some Barnsley fans want their club to go for him.

I must admit does seem a low offer. Funnily enough his dad played for both Barnsley and us

Ian Evatt has confirmed Bolton won’t be recalling the Romanian Wizard Dennis Politic as he didn’t sign his contract they’ve drawn a line under him.

Happy with that news! Hopefully we can get him signed permanently in the summer.

Vale fans… Evatt has said today that we won’t be recalling politic, that we offered him a contract earlier in season that was turned down…and we won’t be offering him another one so we are drawing a line under it. Looks like he’s free to leave at the end of the season for compo/free. Quite stunned to be honest.

It is a little surprising. There’s obviously something not right there with Politic and Bolton for him not to want to sign the contract and doesn’t seem any love lost the other way either.

I hope we can offer him something but may be a case of needing to get promoted to have a chance of getting him permanently.

It’s great news though for us, he has a bit of the X factor about him in terms of his ability, although mostly seems to show it off the bench where he can change a game (Barrow/Orient/Burton). When he starts he is more quiet strangely.

I guess a key point would be the cost in terms of compensation if we wanted to keep him although often clubs get around that we a decent sell on clause.

Yeah, like Masi said, Bolton were quite good with him while we was out injured... don't think he played at all under Evatt though so it could be that the two of them don't get along. But that would surprise me as Evatt seems like such a cuddly and lovable character, can't imagine him falling out with anyone.

I like Politic. He's clearly got ability and that little point of difference that is often lacking in league 2. His best position is probably coming in off the left but we haven't really played a formation to suit him so far. The only time we did against Colchester at home, he terrorised them first half. He's a great impact player but I'd like to see him do it more consistently when starting. Alternatively, just give him a free role but I don't think that is Clarke's style.

I think we'll change systems as we go through the last 25 games, so I can see him playing a big part.
