Wootton is a terribly underwhelming signing. Massively limited player from what I've seen. Earnt another crack at League Two but considering Stockport are on about getting rid of Ash Palmer at CB cos they have massive irons in the fire then it's an odd one.

Did Bradford get any semblance of consistency out of Charlie Vernam? Absolute boss on his day for us but not it? Nowhere to be seen.

Wouldn’t go as far as ‘nowhere to be seen’ but I can see where you’re coming from, a couple of ineffective crosses for example but 8/10 would have the full back on toast. I’d say for us any inconsistency (again that sounds too harsh) came from him being injured a fair bit, a few months in, a few weeks out… Saying all this there’s no one who wouldn’t want him kept on as since Hughes came in especially he’s gone to a different level entirely and scoring consistently. We had him, Jamie Walker (already signed on) and Dion Pereira (trying to get back on loan) who when they started as a three would be as good as you’d get in this division.

It's possible. I think he'll be a good option off the bench/rotation actually. We're only just getting started from what I've been told.

Doubt you are paying a player £5k a week to sit on the bench

Signed midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe from Walsall for an undisclosed fee, two year deal, I’ve never heard of him.

He has talent, but has a dreadful attitude. Properly loves himself
Sounds just like the manager we have just got rid of. Hope it goes better with this guy tho I am still hoping for a CB with a similar name

Well the guy who leaked Osadebe and Harratt also leaked Smallwood and Odusina so let's hope those two happen because I haven't seen a single positive comment from Walsall fans about this lad yet

That’s the only positive vibe I’m getting from this announcement.

Osadebe wasn’t and hasn’t been mentioned since that leak.

Suggesting we’ve also signed Smallwood (IMO signing of the summer in L2 if it happens) and Timi from Hartlepool has rave reviews, too.

Worth noting, there’s no blades of grass on the Valley Parade pitch, which indicates Osadebe was signed possibly 1-2 weeks ago.

HMS piss midtable is officially setting sail. Not good enough for Wallsall, not good enough for us. Sorry, but it's hard to get excited about this. If we bring in Smallwood and Timi then I'd be happy, but not with this. Another squad filler. When are we actually going to sign someone who improves the first 11?

Edit: Also paid a fee. Strange.

Osadebe was yet another loan flop for us, three games as a sub, but to be fair it's a few years ago. Baffling that we'd bring in a player with experience in a higher division and never even start him.

Alls not lost mate. His stats actually don’t look that bad. He’s obviously a replacement for the likes of Gareth Evans. He scores more than Callum Cooke and assists about the same.

Yeah I think sparks said the other day that a few more were done and a few were also close so hopefully some better signings arrive soon.

If he comes in as backup, fine. But if he's a starter I'd be worried. We need some serious quality signings now. The likes of the rumoured Smallwood and Odusina. Then we need similar quality up front and out wide and then I'd probably get a bit excited. Maybe haha.

Any player needs to be given a chance, regardless of previous fans’ opinions. We were told a number of our signings last summer were either crap or had poor attitudes but they turned out to be some of the top performers in the league.

On the flip side, we also had Colin Daniel who proved the nay sayers right!

When you signed him the other season, I thought meh. Although he did well for us in L1, I wouldn’t have wanted him back - even in L2.

Then, look what he achieved last season. League Two - it’s such a strange, inconsistent league.

Agree with this, players can be underwhelming at one place and world beaters at another, I think Northampton signed the Walsall keeper who said he was a bag of shite, ended up being Northampton's star man going off their comments last season.

Suggestion that we're after Paul McCallum from Dagenham. I'd be happy with that as a forward option - one of the better target man style forwards in the National League, and for me a better player than Wootton who has just signed for Stockport. Regular goalscorer over the past few years as well, albeit out of the EFL. Would work well in a Harris 4-4-2 which I imagine is what he'll be aiming for.

Always amazed me seeing McCallum, being what 6ft4 and being the man launching long throws into the box which in reality he should be on the end of.

Yeah Dieng was superb and yet Southend fans said he went missing in their back to back relegations. 15 goals from midfield for us.

Jevani Brown was apparently lazy, shit and a bad egg but ended up one of the most effective attacking midfielders in the league.

Cam Dawson was allegedly a nervous wreck in goal but was the best ‘keeper I’ve seen in over 30 years watching Exeter.

Jonathan Grounds was another one who was awful at Swindon but did a superb job for us.

So yeah, players sometimes just need to fit somewhere and be utilised the right way. If it was as easy as picking up the top performing players and you’d be promoted then Salford would’ve won the league by 20 points!!

Lazy and bad egg yes, but always had quality.

Jevani will thrive in a good side but if you are in trouble he's not a player you want in the trenches with you.

5k been laughed at at our end, nowhere near apparently.

McCallum is a good striker who will score goals for you I reckon. He seems to pick up injuries though and maybe isn't as much of an all round player like the Notts fans say Wootton is. I couldn't see McCallum fitting into our passing style but that's not to say he won't be a better signing for you than Wootton is for us.

I would put McCallum ahead of Wotton, He has a very good habit of creating space for himself.
Having said that DC can get the best out of pretty average players.

Our journo is name dropping Lemonheigh-Evans, Callum Camps and Vit Jaros. He rarely drops names without real substance.

Jaros was great for Notts at EP against us, would have been 5 or 6 without him. He'd provide legit competition for Hinchliffe. Camps I've heard wants to move back Manchester wise. L-Evans is good but not sure where fits still.

And we really could do with 2 maybe 3 defenders. Hopefully they're the next players to be linked.

Every Notts fans has said Wooton's best qualities are work rate, holding it up, unselfish work, allowing others space etc. McCallum is a box striker, he's definitley the better finisher. Madden is more our finisher. Wootton's finishing is apparently hit and miss and something he has to work on.

But stylistically, Wootton is more what we need. I'd be underwhelmed with McCallum if we signed him, he wouldn't suit our game at all.
