Not a chance in hell is Akinde worth £1m, there's a massive difference between an unspotted talent making his way from the Conference to the Championship and a player who's had his chance in the FL and has proven he can't cut it and has been forced to drop down.

You are all correct. Akinde isnt a championship level player, he's our player and you are about to find out if he is good enough for league two.

Twelve months ago I doubted he was top level conference, but playing regular has made the world of difference and I now believe he is the best striker we've had since Dougie Freedman.

It just goes to show how little pre-season means - last pre-season, Big John couldn't hit a barn door and didn't even score, going on to get 31 in a season.

And then the infamous season we beat St. Albans 10-2...

Akinde's not a Championship player in a million years.

Well he bullied both a PL level Palace defence and single handedly destroyed MK Dons. The bloke is an absolute machine and can cause problems for any defender with his size. You saw last season what Akinfenwa done to Liverpool... While he isn't that enormous he's quicker, more mobile and still strong enough.

He may not set L2 alight but he will cause defences many problems, guaranteed.

Sorry but pre season friendlies don't really mean very much. He will still need to prove his abilities in competitive league matches before anyone will see him as anything more than a good conference striker.

I know that fully well... My point is is that from the evidence that we have seen of him playing league teams, his physicality causes massive problems/ Maybe not the 'trip over your own feet when he's running behind you' kind of problems that teams like Dartford and Welling were having, but he's proven so far that he can be a real handful for Palace, MK Dons, Peterborough and Wycombe - so it's not too ridiculous to assume that he'll be a pretty potent weapon in L2.

We had Akinde in League 1 for a short while, he didn't score once. He was gash for us and we were glad to see the back of him.

Somehow he's managed to find some form in the Conference, then again N'Gala was terrible for us last season but has seemed to do alright in the league below.

Bondz has always had his limitations, put him next to a mobile CB who can tackle and he's generally fine. We knew this from his previous spell with us in league two.
I do notice a common pattern with Akinde in his league spells so far. Apart from at Wycombe where he scored 7 in 11 games, no team has given him more than 1-2 games consecutively. Despite scoring well at Alfreton, he looked poor when he arrived with us, basically no confidence in his ability to finish and that seems to be the pattern elsewhere. The other point I'd make is he isn't a back to goal striker to pinging big balls to him wont work, his ability is running the channels and turning his marker, his pace is deceptive and it catches a lot of defenders and keepers out.

Rumours going around that Leyton Orient are looking to sign Troy Archibald-Henville from us.

Despite being transfer listed, he's an excellent player, one of the best centre backs in this league when he's fit, he was a top player for Swindon but has injury issues which is why he's playing in league 2.

Not sure how I'd feel if Troy went to Orient. He's probably our best defender, and would be hard to replace. However, he is likely to miss at least 10 games a season through injury/suspension, and we'd never get a settled defence. I also imagine he'll be one of our higher earners.

I think it'd be good business if we got rid of him and brought in a decent replacement, though that's easier said than done.

First I've heard of this I have to say.

Don't want him though, we don't need to be paying fees for cripple backs.

You wouldn't be paying a fee. We're prepared to offload him for nothing.

Left back Frazer Shaw has signed from Dulwich Hamlet and centre half Connor Essam has signed for an undisclosed fee from Dover Athletic.

Two more signings to come today apparently.

If you're reading them on Luton Outlaws, you should really know better!

He was meeting with Still today for a final decision supposedly, although depending on who you believe that might just be a smokescreen for a deal that has already been done. Notts County's chairman claimed he had already signed a two year deal over the weekend, as did Alan Swann (chief sports writer at the Peterborough Telegraph).

Whatever happens, it's unlikely anything will be formally announced just yet for the same reason as before - Brighton are still paying him an obscene wage until the end of the month.

He's worth atleast that to us, so no chance we should sell for anything less.

Whether or not it would be worth the buying club to pay that, well...

For a striker in the final year of his contract, £500k-£1m would be a fantastic amount for Barnet and I think you'd be crazy to reject that sort of money on the principle that he'd leave for free the following summer. Unless I'm underestimating the amount the Hive makes? Every club below the top four in the PL 'has their price' as such.

As for his ability to step up, there's no doubt he could (and possibly will) step up to League Two but two things work against him the higher you go up the leagues. His physicality alone wouldn't be enough in L1/Championship, and defences will be more organised. With all due respect, Barnet fans will agree some of the defending against him last season was comical against the lower teams, and a lot of his goals were scored in the same manner.

There's no doubt he's a vastly improved player from the one who played for us in League 1, but I'd still fancy that League 2 is the maximum level he could score 10-20 goals a season.

Alex Cisak returns from Burnley on a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He was immense for us last season, even if we did go down, the amount of saves and games he kept us in.

Wycombe have signed ex Watford midfielder Luke O'Nein after he impressed Gareth Ainsworth while on trial, i doubt he'll be starting in most games but he can play in a few positions which is vital seeing as we're going to have a small squad again this season.
obviously it dosn't take alot to impress a simpleton like Ainsworth he did sighn steven Craig

Our Chairman and our local rag both think he's signed for Luton

He has two years left on his contract. If the chairman thinks that without him we will be close to the relegation spots then it would take a huge offer to let him go.

£1m would be ludicrous for a forward who has only ever scored consistently for one season at conference level. He may be a late developer and go on to do great things now that he has matured, but the only John Akinde I remember is one that constantly fell over and didn't do much else. If I was the Barnet owner and anyone offered me £500k+ with a sell-on, I'd take it.
