The Carlisle News and Star has Simpson moaning at some length about the Patrick rumours. Would have thought a few words along the lines of it’s nonsense, followed by talking about their signings etc would have been better. He comes across as quite highly-strung.

Alex Hunt wanted by 2 clubs in League 2 apparently. Didn't thrive at Oldham after a solid first half of last season at Grimsby. Any one heard rumours of wanting him?

Did FGR and Exeter make any marquee signings last year? Genuine question.
Well, at the time the signings came in, us fans didn’t think we made many marquee signings. Nombe counted as one as we paid a 6 figure fee for him.

Dieng, Brown and Dawson definitely turned out to be marquee signings though.

Some journalist on twitter linking us with Quigley at Stockport but I'm calling bollocks on that since Oliver looks to be close.

Aye he did say interested rather than anything being imminent so obvious you were exploring the market for a physical striker.

He’s also said Whitfield is heading to Barrow.

was it any different at Newport?
Probably not but this suggests our budget is not even top 10 when it was expected to be fans forum on Monday will be fun now think some of our fans have gone a bit giddy over the new ownership. This article has not gone down well at all.

Vale didnt either really Wilson was the only name and he hadnt done much at Salford they went up it is possible without throwing silly money at it like a lot seem to be now.

You're right we didn't throw stupid money at it, DC has mentioned before we've kept to a strict wage cap. Wilson prior to coming to us was probably one more club from falling out the league. It just happened things clicked and he started showing the quality he showed at Man Utd after a run of games and playing a system that brought the best out of him.

Like that interview from Flynn by the way. Good to see some honesty. Walsall want to be careful as if it's another top manager for L2 who has been sold a pup it's going to be hard to attract another one if he walks.

Yeah, that looks like big V.
We wanted to keep him but wanted to move back up north.
Decent player and almost unbeatable in the air.
Get some decent balls in the box and he will score plenty for you.
Always gave his best for us and I wish him well.

He was with us for the back half of the 20/21 season. If memory serves me right he was out injured for a period of time but when he was on the pitch looked pretty decent. Got a bit of pace about him and some clever movement too. He'd have probably scored more for us if he wasn't lumbered with a pair of traffic cones like Kurtis Guthrie or Theo Robinson alongside him.
I liked the look of Swann but as mentioned got injured against Bolton and didn’t recover. Think he scored at Cheltenham for us the week before?

Sutton have signed Josh Neufville from Luton on a season long loan. Last year at Yeovil I believe. 21 yo winger, replacement (we hope) for Ajiboye. Other signings so far Jack Rose as keeping replacement for Bouzanis (Reading), Sam Hart at left back from Oldham and Kwame Thomas who was surplus to requirements at Wrexham (we’re not in their market!!). Thomas should be like for like ish replacement for Bennett (Barrow), likely a bit more mobile.

Signed Josh Andrews on loan from Birmingham, any insights Rochdale fans?
Pros: 6'7" and built like a fairly fast brick outhouse. Good finisher with his feet.

Cons: can't time his jumps so poor in the air, particularly for a big bloke. Also seems injury prone.

I think he's particularly annoyed at the Carlisle fans spreading the rumours rather than anyone at Tranmere. People start discussing it almost like it's a done-deal and I think his jist is that when fans label a players as a wantaway, whether justified or not, it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Patrick for his part has just purchased a house in Carlisle so he seems to see his immediate future being here. I'd have kept my thoughts to myself in his position but he's a fan as well as the manager so his comments will sometimes be a little more emotive.
