Seems we have made an approach for Alex Bass at Pompey...he was at Bradford last season.

Strange really as we have just signed Correy Addai and in Glenn Morris we have a very decent keeper.

It's well know that Morris came to us as a keeper's coach but after our first choice started punching the ball into his own net he had to step in and has been ever present since (barring a couple of small injuries). Basically, we don't need another keeper.

Casey
Decent shot stopper, but rash and gave away a silly penalty to cost us the game against Swindon and was lucky not to give away a few more, think it was Harrogate where he wiped someone out and the ref didn’t bat an eye lid. Distribution was also questionable at times, but he’s got potential and there’s worse out there.

Brilliant shot stopper with a howler rush of blood in him, possibly due to inexperience. Don't think we tried to get him back.

We need a right back
We need a centre back
We need a defensive midfielder
We need a pacy forward, especially if Patrick goes.

Then we’ll be just about done.

Guys we’ve got 14 players, some of them we don’t want and 2 of them are injured.

Capable of wonder saves and howlers alike, replaced a more steady but less spectacular (in terms of saves) Richard O’Donnell but I’m glad we’re not taking him on full time despite him being a decent keeper for this league.

think the lack of transfer news from mansfield is good given where we want to be.

Another Gk defender and forward and apparently clough happy.

Loving the look of the midfield currently, they’ll be few (if any) better next term.

Actually confident for once.

Could Cook be on his way Bradford fans?

Put it this way, Hughes’ formation preference is 4231 and we currently have 6 strikers on the books.

Granted, players like Young and Angol can play out wide, but there’s still Oliver, Harrett and of course Cook who will be fighting for the loan striker position.

I think he’ll leave.

So, now you’ve signed Oliver are you expecting to be playing long to his noggin?

Vale didnt either really Wilson was the only name and he hadnt done much at Salford they went up it is possible without throwing silly money at it like a lot seem to be now.
Wilson was a big name but we benefitted from him bottoming out and being local so it was “bringing him home”, Benning and Pett were biggish names at this level but both free. We looked at the matrix and got Garrity though who was outstanding despite poor reviews from Oldham and Walker who wasn’t subject to rave reviews and turned out to be a linchpin.

Add in a couple of risks injury record wise with Proctor and tweaking in January where we signed the “who?” In Connor Hall who turned out to be a rolls Royce of a centre half and it all worked out.

Lessons - never always look at previous clubs comments (Look at McKirdy for example)

- not always about spending the big bucks… Salford throw money at it and haven’t even made the top 7 in their 3 years, Wrexham for instance the league below…

- might take a couple of risky ones or players who need to find a home and feel wanted.

We have a recruitment method (the matrix) and got it relatively spot on under Flickers. We just had to “trust the process”.

I reckon Cook will be here for the first half of the season at least, to fight for his spot, as it stands though he’s about one of six going for the lone strikers spot. Can see him waiting until January to move on as he did at Mansfield to come here, main issue I’d guess would be his wages for the sort of club who’d be in for him.

Doubt Cook will ever get the sort of money Mansfield and Bradford paid him now, he will have to lower those demands.

Vadaine Oliver was an odd one. Came to us and had an underwhelming goal scoring record to say the least. Can see why based on his finishing with us, but he was immense with his ability to win balls in the air and be a general nuisance. Then he went to Gillingham and scored a hatful the following season. Never suspected he would be a double digits goalscorer as his finishing was generally pretty poor but seems like something has now clicked.

He was definitely an effective target man but feel like he benefits from having another player around him.

We were in for Oliver, but were never going to give him 3 years at his age. Strongly circulating rumours, which may of course be wishful thinking, that we're getting Pigott back from Ipswich probably on loan. We have precisely no established strikers right now but I think a lot of our business is being held up by the sale of Jack Rudoni, allegedly now agreed with Huddersfield for £600k with big add-ons.

Looks like Scott Quigley to Morecambe, will likely mean we are signing Norwood as it was rumoured we were looking to move Alex Reid and Quigley out to bring him in.

Did help that he had one of the divisions best wide men in Jordan Graham putting them on a plate for him to be fair. Didn't do nearly as well without that particular supply line.

We've just signed Mika Mandron for a 2nd spell. Happy with that, liked his style first time round and it's a striker!

I can't really see Quigley doing a lot at Morecambe, especially if he's playing second fiddle to Stockton. I wouldn't be surprised to see him available for a loan in January.

Maybe Stockton is moving somewhere else, I agree it's a bit of a strange move as he definitely isn't league one quality or anywhere near the level of Stockton to challenge him.

Would love it if Stockton is moving to us in exchange of Quigley and some cash, but I doubt it. The rumours about Norwood have followed us all summer and come from decent ITKers.

What type if striker is this Norwood guy?

Would he fit with Madden?

I wouldn't let Quigley go. He occupies defenders and creates space for others. We've brought Wootton in for that but I don't trust Notts. All their players always seem overrated.

He’s very similar to Madden in a lot of ways which is why despite being a very good striker at this level and would be an excellent signing for most sides, I hope we’re not going to bring in him.

Apparently we are in 'advanced talks' to re-sign Ian Henderson. Would definitely be pleased with this one, he was brilliant for us and he's not many goals shy of our all time record, would be great for him to break it.

Have you guys heard anything about McCormick coming back to the gas? I noticed he missed your last friendly with 'a knock' ?

I’d be very surprised if you were seriously in for Oliver he made it very clear that he was going back up north from the start.

Waste of time then.

At least the summer is allowing Simon Wilson to keep busy though.

We were/are fine. Just need to let a couple go. Not shipping Quigley out for Norwood as new a new toy etc.

More likely be Challinor who wants Quigley shipping out.

Was patently obvious that he had lost faith in him during the last half of the season. He doesn't trust him which is why he was being subbed off at half time for a unfit Connor Jennings, or even Jennings starting ahead of him.
