Jordan Keane leaves us for Halifax, two-year deal.

Disappointing (for sentimental reasons) but understandable as he was never going to be a regular in the side, we're over-subscribed in his positions and it frees up space for someone who plays elsewhere.

Are we oversubscribed?

We have one RCB in Lewis. He’s going to need replacing.

Some rumours that we might be loaning Aaron Bennett to Hartlepool. 1st year pro so I've never seen him play but he's a CM/AM, meant to be very technical, and he's built like barrel for his age. Scored some screamers for the youth team.

So he’s a fat bastard then?
Just a stocky fucker, like Rooney at that age. Don't think he'd struggle with the physical side of it. Supposedly he's pissed off a bunch of our first team by crunching them during pre season.

Been sent to Pools as punishment, see what happens, definitely need players at the top end of the pitch.

Talk in Scotland is that us, Stevenage and Crawley, all interested in Josh McPake from Rangers with a decision to be made this week.
He disappointed on loan for Rovers last season, having looked decent when on loan for Harrogate the previous one. Then some felt he was the best opponent we’d played against.

We have ex Scunthorpe player Tom Pugh on trial, played in our 2-0 loss at Potters Bar tonight.

Not coming here anyway according to Hartley tonight.

Dont think it was mentioned but we signed a young Kerion Bowie (nicknamed Ziggy) from Fulham on a season long loan. Can play up top or out wide. Broke into the first team up north for Raith i believe at the age of 16. Yes, he is indeed highly rated.

Getting close to being done now i think, maybe 2 or 3 more.

Where have you got that info from as Ive not seen anything to that effect?
Also mentioned by Evatt today in his post-match interview after our friendly against Watford. The video was swiftly deleted so he clearly wasn’t meant to let that slip

Technically a very good footballer is Darcy. Just his small stature and lack of athleticism that really held him back here.

He could really turn into a brilliant footballer if given regular game time but he was never going to get that with us.

I’ll be keeping an eye on how he gets on at The County Ground and really rooting for him - seems like a really likeable and humble lad.

Never really broke into the first team with our policy of not playing the young players until financial restrictions. Hope he does well, if Orient offer him a deal.

Really happy about Pym, only a loan so we were obviously not willing to pay whatever fee they wanted for a player with one year left. I hope it’s all planned to become permanent in the future.

2.5 weeks until the season starts and I’m hitting ‘concerned’ territory looking at our squad. We need at least 2 CMS (maybe even 3), a striker, a goalkeeper and a back up at CB and a potentially another winger

Yeah I've seen that video so I expect it will be officially announced today once we've done all the interviews and taken the pictures at the ground etc.

What kind of midfielder is he DB? I'd say midfield is where we look best, last night Jonny Williams, Louis Reed and Ben Gladwin apparently ran the show at Woking (I know, it's only Woking!) with Gladwin and Williams getting on the score sheet. We've offered Jack Payne a big salary to try and get him tied down to a new contract but it sounds like Darcy is potentially his replacement, is he a box to box player? We already have technical ability in the middle of the park so he sounds like the 'moneyball' signing that we are now looking to recruit going forwards. It is great to hear positive reviews about him.

There must be at least a half dozen of us chasing this elusive striker position, feel like we've been talking about signing one for a month now.

Yep, that's exactly what I think we need and I'm also getting a bit concerned. The CMs are the ones we need in desperately otherwise we might be hoping Evan Khouri can carry his pre-season form into the regular season.

If it's any consolation this our fourth window under Hurst and we've been chasing and talking endlessly about that elusive striker in every one of them.

Ryan Taylor's a good striker IMO. I like a striker who brings others into play, occupies centre halves. His numbers possibily aren't that high but McAtee etc would have benefitted from his work keeping centre halves occupied. Much prefer strikers like that than penalty box strikers who only make selfish runs to score a goal and contribute nothing else.

You also have brought that Orsi in haven't you? He's a different type of striker to Taylor. Albeit you'd certainly say he's unproven in the FL, he can't have ripped up many trees at Harrogate.

I wouldn’t worry, plenty of time to get deals done.

Threlkeld was primarily a defensive midfielder before his arrival here - also attempts to play RB on occasions. He’s available.

I can see Andy Cook rocking up at a club like yours anorl, y’know.

His most natural position is at CAM, he's too lightweight to be playing as more of a conventional CM and hasn't really got the engine to be box-to-box from what I've seen of him. On the ball he can really make things happen with brilliant close control and good weight of pass, it's the off the ball stuff he needs to work on.
