Seen something that said statistically, Green was the best DM in NL last season so I’d be very pleased with this.

Sounds like a good signing, was definitely needed. We've got the legs in the middle now with Green, Holohan and Clifton. I think the next CM we look to bring in will be someone with a bit more creativity in their locker.

I think Hurst will focus on staying strong in the middle and the attacking intent from McAtee and the wingers. I know it’s absolutely Town fan sacrilege but I’m not sure I’d be entirely comfortable with Clifton or Holohan being part of a starting CM

Impossible not to like Holohan but the game passes him by in this league, which was a shame cos he was the nuts in the National League.

Yeah, I reckon he's gonna still be looking to use Clifton out wide and not centrally and I'd agree that he'll be looking for us to be more solid in the middle with two aggressive pressers/box to box types. But I still think he'll want that option of a ball playing CM too. Could well be that he's on the Hunt (see what I did there?) for a loanee that can pick a pass.

In what way was he nuts? Was he quite attacking for you at that level? He scored an absolute banger for us vs Chesterfield and I think people thought that was what he was all about. But for me he's just a fairly understated but hard working CM. Can bring the ball forward fairly well but is a little wasteful with it. Does a lot of the dirty work that goes unnoticed.

You hit the nail on the head, the bloke was an absolute grafter, sort of player that turns into a cult hero at a club, probably not the most technical, nor gifted footballer but could smash a 25 yarder, you know exactly what you were getting from him and that's what made him the nuts in our promotion side.

Hope he has a decent season but looked out of his depth against a better quality opposition every week, he'll get a great reception when he comes back.

For 30 mins against Stockport at Easter our whole team looked out of its depth. Sarcevic gets sent off, Challinor gets the change wrong to adapt to 10 and completely cedes the midfield to us, and the whole destiny of GTFC changes...

Suggestion this morning that we're on the verge of a double signing - Aaron Pierre (CB) and Kai Corbett (RW).

Pierre is probably just we need defensively to compliment Ehmer, Baggott and Wright, while Corbett is a hell of a talent who I've already recommended to two separate clubs as part of my work. Would be happy if both were true.

The looking out of his depth concerns me a bit but he's definitely the sort of player who I reckon will be determined to prove himself. Hopefully he'll have reflected a bit and be working on some of the things he struggled with last season.

Were also apparently in for Bryn Morris according to a local journo. Any thoughts Pools/Cobblies fans?

Bryn Morris is next on our radar, this one isn’t done just yet though. Thoughts Hartlepool fans?

I think Pierre is a good addition, sort of signing we are not going to make this season due to the management not thinking it’s needed but I’m not sure I agree.

Oddly i genuinely have no recollection of him playing for us, despite it not being that long ago. Not sure if its age, if I just lost interest as we were going down or if he was just underwhelming. Sadly i am of no use to you with this one!

I really liked Aaron Pierre when he was with us. A physical presence in both boxes, he chipped in with quite a few goals. Would occasionally go on mad runs forward as well. Think thats a good signing.

Persistently injured, very good on his day but his day is about 50% of a season, I think it’s why we swerved him eventually.

Was hoping we might be in for Pierre before we signed a few defenders. Good signing I think.

Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole, played around 20 games in 3 seasons.
He was only going to sign because him & Lee were mates,Hartley pulled deal straight away.
Wanting to the likes of Morris got Lee the sack.

I was unsure Gav would make the step, but overall I thought he did well,he gives the ball away a bit too much, but wins loads of second balls & is always capable of getting you a winner.
We we’re completely out of it against Blackpool in the cup,he came on & turned the game around.
Stupid decision to let him go.

Obviously tough to lose a talented player but it's pleasing to hear good reports from opposition fans. I did see you had rejected a bid during last season. I don't think that could have been us as we were under embargo and couldn't pay fees. What kind of player is he Spire?
Yeah he was decent for us, played in behind the striker in a CAM role mostly, good on the ball, can carry it forward and pass too which instantly makes him look a solid player at the level we are at

Check this out probably shows the type of player he is quite nicely -

Just been told we’re bringing two in tomorrow.
One sounds ok,but the other,Christ talk about shopping in B&M.
If it’s true,it makes a mockery of Raj’s play off budget claim.

Nice one, he looks handy enough. Hopefully he can make the step up seamlessly.
