Yeah he’s 100% not Championship level yet but has all the raw ability to do so.

He’s out of contract in the summer and in reality he needs surgery on his shoulder, 500k plus a loan back would be great business for all parties.
500k would only be great business for Grimsby

Any rumours on Adebayo your end we have a 20% sell on clause if he leaves?
We turned down a bid from DC United for him, was only 4 million so doesnt come to close to what we value him at. Rooney has been an admirer of his though so he might come back in with another. Not sure it would be right for him, he needs to be looking at a premier league move next.

No other concrete rumours other than that, he didn’t look himself on Saturday so I do feel like something is brewing there.

I noticed that Crawley have registered 35 pro players in their squad list ahead of the new season.

I mean thats just insane for down here, all of last seasons squad signed contract extensions and they've just added around 12 players on top of that.

It just looked like it will all in end in tears, how on earth are 35 players going to be kept happy?!
I'm pretty sure Burton made it to 43 players two or three years ago!

Slightly concerned at the shoulder injury thing he seems to have. Sounds like it’s going to need to be fixed at some point but if we loan him back, when would that be and would it make it worse?

500k for a player out of contract in the summer and with some niggling injury issue is very good business for Grimsby I’d suggest. Double what we paid for Adebayo who had had a solid season at this level!

I dont get why you would loan a 23 year old back anyway. Fair enough if they are in their teens but not 23

We're chasing it.

Mazeed Ogungbo. Season long loan from Arsenal u23. Big, quick centre back.

We have 8 centre backs now. 2 were out on loan all last season so I would expect at least that many to do so this season.

Rumours of a midfielder coming in too.

As someone on our forum said. "We may not do well in league 2 this season but Premier u23 better watch out"!

We have too many players in his position anyway so it’s all around a bit strange if I’m honest.

I guess the logic is he won’t play a huge role here yet but we think he’s got a “high ceiling” so may as well do that development in a place he’s played his best football than sit around picking up splinters and that if we waited until next summer or January he would have developed to an extent that he would then be out of our budget. We have to take those risks I think to get decent young players in but it sometimes doesn’t work. We made the mistake of getting in Mendes Gomes from Morecambe last year too early in his development when he wasn’t ready for championship football and he’s wasted a year on the bench not playing as a result. So maybe we are trying something different this time around.

I do agree it’s somewhat odd though for player his age.

He's charismatic, feisty and full of himself - sort of player who will want to play in front of fans not feck about in the reserves / u23s. If he can't get in your first team I'm sure he would want to stay with us for the season and soak up his top dog status. Probably why the fee is lower than first mooted.

Sounds like we want, we play a very aggressive pressing style now so that attitude and approach would fit. If he’s like that I’d rather us keep him and get Mendes Gomes and Muskwe out, both play his position and are just a bit “nice” for us these days

About what I would have said LM. He likes the big fish in a small pond feeling, an arm around him now and again. he had the talent when with us but wasn’t going to be in the first team at the time so he went.

Unless his head gets turned by an Agent he’ll probably sign again.

Easy really, they don’t have room yet but in January or May they face a battle, get him off the market now for 250k. Keeps all parties happy and they get a player who has another full seasons experience under his belt.

Any news Sestonpoolie ? Preferably something to give the place a lift before Saturday.
Nope.
I think that’s our lot until we get some under 23 kid from Boro.
Gob shyte Hobin has disappeared without trace after telling fans we’re getting a marquee signing, but nothing has happened.
Our signings have made a mockery of Raj’s very good budget claims & I’m glad I didn’t get a season ticket this year.
I wonder how much money was wasted on the hotel etc for an over night stay to Walsall, bloody ridiculous.

Failed his medical apparently. I’d have thought we would leave it now as he’s not a strictly necessary signing from our point of view.

Well I was wrong then:whistle:fail fast and all that!

Bit worried about this shoulder situation, seems like it will need sorting sooner rather than later but seems a decent player

I've heard all along from people I know who are reasonable sources that the budget in real terms is uncompetitive. It may just be enough to stop up but even then any manager will have to box clever. We've got to pray that these Scots lads will improve or we are absolutely fucked, even for next year as most are on 2 years. I haven't felt this despondent for some time, I thought give it a chance and I still will but it was very very alarming what was out on the pitch Saturday.

People asking where is this revenue from last year? I might be wrong but the account shows Raj has paid himself 1 million from the club...

Not quite the much over inflated 500-700K that was banded around in pre season then?

Great deal for Grimsby though.
I think the fact we get him for a full season plus the add ons makes the deal worth close to that for us

Stockport County.
What a deal that is for Grimsby. He was unlikely to sign a new contract with such interest in him so to get the cash for him plus his final year of service is a massive bonus.

Also, he could actually flop at L2 level (not saying he will) and the cash will already be in the bank. Absolute win win.

If he has a pretty average year, what's to say Luton wouldn't loan him for another year?

We had two lads on the bench would could mix it up, And know Lge 2 inside out.
Afraid the manager has to take the hit for that one, 4 3 3 old hat and not flexible enough.
I know we were pushed with Grey being out, but the kid should not have started.
Subs at HT and we may have had a chance, Some need to toughen up a lot.

Buck stops with the manager i,m afraid.

Oh for sure it does, we were more open than the ozone layer. Look at the second goal there's no way a headed clearance from their own box should cut through the whole team like that.

It wasn't just the Scots mind, Featherstone was poor, Ferguson, Cooke, everyone really. Only Niang and Umerah showed up for the ball and put a shift in.

Bizarre transfer, what we thinking Grimsby fans more likely back at L2 before we know it or a success? Gut feeling.
