Our heroic captain during the non-League years,, Ash Palmer, is heading to Chesterfield

Disappointing but it was always on the cards, he really went backwards during the early part of the season with uncharacteristic errors that cost points.

Undisclosed fee, probably not a lot* as he only signed on for a further year in the summer.

Legend of the club, heart of our defence for two promotions and also scored some massive goals for us considering he's a centre half.

Disagree with Forza he made loads of errors but he wasn't really getting in the team with Horsfall coming into his own and starting to show he's a more established League player.

*- the fee may not be high but rumours have been strong around the club that Tshimanga is on the way to us in Jan as a buyout clause activates. Rumours he's already been around our training ground and Chesterfield are resigned to him going. So the value in doing business with them could be higher than the Palmer fee.

There is no buyout clause activating in January as he already has an active release clause which Birmingham met in the summer but couldn’t get it over the line for one reason or another. Between £400k - £450k is what it’s believed to be.

In all honesty, if that type of money was offered for him now I’m sure we’d snap the buyers hands off. He’s barely played for us this season and only started 4 league games!! Not really been in favour with Cook since returning from injury, as his all round play hasn’t been quite what Cook wants from his number 9. He will always score goals when given a proper run in the team though, but whether that’s going to happen is a different story now though as I can’t imagine he’s best pleased in being second fiddle at this moment in time.

Happy with the Palmer signing, should provide good competition for Williams / Grimes in fighting for those two starting places, and obviously his league winning experience last season could be huge.

Having watched you last season, I think Palmer and Grimes are very similar in style and therefore may not fit together but that's only going off the games against us last season. Saying that, I doubt you'd concede many aerial crosses with those two at the back.

Rumour on our board is pretty strong on Tshimanga and some quite reliable sources are in on it. Figure mentioned isn't as high as what you've mentioned but we'll see what transpires. Obviously we can't do anything until Jan so we'll see. Does sound like his time with you is done, whether we're his destination I don't know.

It was him or come back as some AFC club, we were desperate.
Rock and a hard place then, I was surprised when I saw he was involved with you. What happened with Jeff Stelling? Is he still around?

Mr Stelling is still around as far as i know, Grew up on the same estate as me.
My claim to fame he used to nick in to watch games the same time as i did.

Lots of clubs at NL level would want Ash so I’d be very surprised if he’s joined you without a promise of getting regular starts.

He’s the best at that level when it comes to defending the box. If you can put some pace alongside him and avoid him having the ball at his feet too much then he’ll be a fan favourite in no time.

Sounds like we’re on the verge of signing Phil Bardsley. He’s been training with us for a while.

Looking forward to the Stockport fans telling us they got a great deal.

It's not the fee I'm hearing for Tshimanga Son of Cod.

100k for Palmer with him not really being L2 quality and him 7 months from contract end is a great deal for us but I imagine both deals will remain undisclosed so boh teams can claim "victory".

Where have you heard we’ve paid £100k for Palmer then? But If you think you’re getting a cut price for a top striker like Tshimanga after making us pay £100k (if that’s actually true as I can’t see us paying that much) for your back up centre half you are dreaming my friend.

He was excellent today btw, came on as a sub in the first half for Williams and won absolutely everything

As much as I love Ash, he's past his best; no way would Chesterfield be throwing a six-figure fee at him (unless it's taxpayer's money I suppose)

One of your fans put it on your messageboard.

I’d suggest it’s more likely to be about 25k if I had to make a wild guess.

I’ve just looked at said post. He put ‘sounds like we’ve signed him for £100k’ so basically he doesn’t have a clue and he’s read it somewhere / heard it down the pub.

Rest of the messages on that thread echo what I’ve put in that it’s extremely unlikely that we’ve thrown £100k at a 30 year old centre half that’s out of favour and OOC next summer.

I could picture Kabby to Stockport to be honest. He's a bit of a square peg in a round hole in Cooks system but he's too good and worth too much money (comparatively) to be having 5-10min sub appearances. I think he didn't endear himself to Cook either when his lip dropped after his Brum deal fell through and he reportedly refused to play or train or whatever for a bit. I mean that is unprofessional, but Kabongo Tshimanga fit and playing every game is guaranteed goals in the right system so he's still worth his release clause I'd say. And Stockport are one of only a couple of clubs at this level who have the funds to get him. Palmer seems a good 'en, came on today due to a 1st half injury after only signing yesterday and he was massive. Puts his head where most players wouldn't put their foot doesn't he

I reckon our prize money today (69k) covered whatever the Palmer fee was with enough left over to buy a decent family suv

So he's already paid his way with a MOTM-winning cup performance. Don't forget the image rights, what with his gorgeous head of hair

don't worry i can see what's coming....
Pools draw Man Utd away in the FA Cup and Raj gets a big payday
Hartlepool put in a huge* offer for Tshimanga at Chesterfield
Chesterfield turn it down.
Hartlepool sign the non-league version of Theo Robinson (or sign Dmitri Sea) on a free.
Raj pockets the cup cash
*Chesterfield leak that the huge offer was £5K+Theo Robinson
