I’ve said it before, of the 92 clubs in the top 4 leagues, we are 92nd choice for most players.
I’m not sure why you often say this as in my eyes Carlisle are a pretty big club for this league.
You’ve obviously got Bradford miles out in front in terms of size but then i’d put Carlisle in that next best level down from them along with a fair few other clubs including us.

Us, Northampton and Rochdale in for Nick Haughton according to this article:

Word on the street is also that Tom Hopper to us is a goer but Lincoln need to bring someone in before it happens. We all know how this goes. Lincoln don't bring anyone in and we end up with a 19 year old loanee from Stoke.

He's probably basing it on our geography. The crack is supposed to be that footballers are terrified at the prospect of moving up here, which is like moving to the moon. It's a 3 day journey to civilisation, and all there is to do is bother sheep.

We're basically relegated already.

I would be surprised if we are in for another attacking midfielder as we already have Hoskins, Pinnock, Eppiah, Bowie and the recently signed Harrop. What we are in need of is an out and out striker which he does not appear to be. Cant see it for us personally.

Matty Dolan to Pools on loan turning into a permanent deal at the end of the season.
Good signing I think, decent L2 player, someone who has the experience to help keep us up and take us forward from there. Need more though, disappointed we missed out on Cairns but if clubs with bigger budgets and higher up the league come in then we've not got a chance. Couple more defenders, keeper, midfielder and a striker still left for me.

Happy with it, it's a good start, need players with minimum League 2 experience, he might've gone off the boil at Newport but it happens to players, the Cairns thing I'm not too arsed about, Salford are a bigger pull right now and it's also presumably his side of the country having been at Fleetwood for 6 years so I can understand why.

Peter Hartley is training with us, linked with that Lambert at Darlo this morning amongst a few other clubs, Dodds rumour still around, need another 3-4 bodies in before Gillingham.

Apparently Bristol Rovers, Morecambe and Forest Green are all interested in taking Marc Leonard on loan. Swansea and Preston both want him permanently. He is a young CM who we have currently on loan from Brighton.

He has been fantastic so far, always wants to be on the ball, very composed, happy to make a tackle also. We are more fluid than our teams of previous years have been but think he would look even better in a team with better individuals around him.

Would be a blow losing a loanee halfway through our season, same thing happened with Kion Etete last season and we were not able to replace him adequately.

Not talking club size. I know there are plenty smaller clubs but these smaller clubs still offer better wages than us mostly and have better training facilities. Plus they probably show a bit of ambition and drive to take the club forward which appeals to most players. 5 minutes in the company of our owners and any player will be straight back down the M6 if they have any alternative.

Dolan hasn’t gone off the boil as such, and I wouldn’t say his legs have gone. Don’t think he’s ever been blessed with a turn of speed but last season and this his lack of pace has been exposed. Has a sweet left foot and is good at dead balls. Will score the odd free kick and takes a good pen too. Pob lwc to him - been a good servant for us. Tidy bloke too by all accounts. Family in the north-east has probably swung it for Pools.

He's a Hartlepool lad, we already have a pretty pedestrian midfield so he'll fit in well.

Did well to get on the end of that cross, Last game for Newport.
A good head will help compensate a lack of pace, Good players just know.

Yep scored a good header after he came off the bench v Crawley. Spent most of his 20 mins in that game stroking the ball with the outside of his left foot into the crowd or to Crawley players but then scored a bloody good goal. Dolan has the potential to be a L2 Molby provided you have 1 or 2 others to run around and win the ball for him. Don’t know what formation you play but he’s played at the back in the middle of a 3 with some success but again you’ll need some young quick lads alongside.

Don't get me wrong, we're hardly paying the big bucks. But do you really think the likes of Edmondson, Holy, Huntington etc are cheap? I'd guess we're below the league 2 average in terms of our way bill, but not by much. The recently published accounts show a big increase in the wage bill, both of and on the pitch.

Not a fan of the BoD myself, they've taken us backwards for 14 long, painful years. But let's stay objective. We have half a chance at having a chance of getting out of this division, the right way...

Must say the reviews from his previous club aren't too promising, no idea about the quality of the Irish League but I imagine it's similar to the Scottish second tier and below and therefore it's a step up to League Two. Maybe they're just a bit touchy that they've lost him.

Brady out in the press today saying he has been told our loanees will be staying with us until the end of the season. Intriguing.

Winger (and Irish international) Daryl Horgan moves to Stevenage on loan from us.

There’s talent there, but he often frustrated with us in terms of lacking an end product, and I don’t think we ever saw the best of him.

And there’s the problem,Dolan will probably be quicker than all the other players.
