Yeah remember that! I remember talking to my dad at full time saying it was his first touch haha! This was just before teh biggest steward i've ever seen bear hug me to chuck me out the ground (whilst being on the phone and waiting for my gf at the time who was in the loo).
I remember at the time thinklng we had signed Eusebios son.

Aiden O’Brien. Gills fans again - what’s your view?

Think that’s another good signing for you guys, I liked him, had some good touches and obviously a good footballing brain but just when he started getting going for us towards the end of the season he got injured (injuries seem to be a bit of an issue for him the past couple of seasons). If he stays fit he’ll do very well for you.

We’ve got Darnell Fisher training with us. Probably just a favour for fitness as he’s a Championship player who’s been injured for 18 months, but you never know I guess.

Apparently we are getting gazumped for Norwood by.... *checks*.... Oldham.

How embarrassing.
I don't see how they have a bigger pull for players over us. A mid-table at best Oldham team going no where with a prick of an owner, or us in a higher league with more financial muscle and like no other team can offer what we can (not just money).

It would be an odd one. I could see it if he was a free agent and the pull of being a first choice etc might be tempting but he is clearly a player we want and if we are having to pay for him then we would be offering a decent salary. For Oldham to match us they'd have to be really going for it which would be a bit worrying on their side. Then again that Flat Cap guy is a bit of a nob so wouldn't put it past him.

It would be even more embarrassing for Barnsley if he chose to go to Oldham.

As PUB said, a very clever footballer.
Doesn’t have any pace these days but can still do a good job.
I wouldn’t have minded him here as a squad player to be honest

I've watched a fair amount of Blackpool over recent seasons and can't say I ever really noticed Virtue all that much. Not saying he'd be a bad signing or anything, just one of those I've seen plenty of times and still don't really know what he brings to the table. No idea what he's been like at Lincoln.

Conference club massively overspending beating league club to a player who is way too good for fifth tier, where have I seen this before? Oldham have been hoovering up some of the best players in the division from what I've been told.

Yet they've still got Mike Fondop

Virtue was good for us. A solid 7/10 hard working box-to-box. Central midfield has been a weakness for us for a couple of years and playing in a 2 meant he had to do a lot of dirty work. He had a nasty injury at Blackpool and missed 3 months last season. Had he been released, I think we would tried to have signed him on a free.

No, that really is his double barrelled name. We had him on loan five years ago from Liverpool. Hard running but not a great footballer with us.

You could tell he had some potential but he was very much one of those jack of all trades, master of none midfielders. Decent 6 or 7/10 every week and put the work in but didn’t really have any stand-out things to his game other than work rate. Was his first taste of senior football though so I imagine he’s developed since then.

Slight delay in Swindon’s signings apparently, which is holding up both their announcing Godwin-Malife and us signing Lavinier.

Definitely expecting activity from us this week. We need to strengthen in several areas.

We've signed Will Wright from Gillingham. (You have to question some parents name choices)

About time we nicked one from them. Undisclos3d fee so probably five times more than they paid for Nadersan.

He looks OK to me. Gills fans?

Casey

Edit. We have 7 centre backs now!

Wasn't really going to get games here.
Good set piece taker, will get you goals from free kicks, but unfortunately he's got a few errors in his game that will cost you goals, we played him as a rb but his natural position is a cb, with a good run of games which he really didn't get here he could turn out to be a good league 2 defender. Hope he does well except vs us

You will need all 7 of them centre backs to take care of Andy Cook on Saturday mate!

What’s it like for other clubs re transfers? Flynn has repeatedly said to expect incomings - 3 yesterday and still no sign today. Is it that difficult to get transfers done, they seem to drag on and on.

As already said he can take a very good free kick and his corner deliveries aren’t bad either, we have several players ahead of him now so he wasn’t going to get much game time here going in to his final year. He can also play at right back, I think he’ll be an ok signing for you and certainly wish him all the best too.

It seems to me to have been a relatively quiet summer for most clubs.

We have only brought in 6 so far instead of our usual 18 or so!

Only one so far, although Parkinson has said that there will hopefully be two more before the end of the window - apparently one (Virtue-Thick most likely) imminent.

We've basically been building a squad for this season over the last 18months but the lack of movement this summer is upsetting some fans.

It’s really weird how few signings most clubs seem to have made, no wonder we’ve landed most of our targets.

Apart from the kid we’ve loaned in from Wolves, ours was all done before we got back for pre-season training and we’ve not done loads this summer. We seem to have transfers in on the go well in advance though - Crowley and Randall both said they watched the play-off final knowing they were likely coming here.

Not surprised he didn’t work out for you.

Didn’t look anything special at Daggers and was prone to errors there.

The fact he came in as a replacement for Ryan Yates didn’t do him any favours either, though they’re different kind of midfielders.

Fisher would be a great signing imo, a much needed upgrade on Brindley by the sound of him.
