Fisher would be a great signing imo, a much needed upgrade on Brindley by the sound of him.

I don't know anything about him as a player, obviously has talent how highly rated he was at City and you get the feeling he must have impressed in training with us for us to have not discarded him, particularly considering he got injured again. But he's missed a lot of football for someone so young. DC quote looks like "if he stays fit" a lot of these cases don't end well, the body just never gets back in tune for the rigours of something as intense on the body as professional football.

Yates leaving in the January window was the reason we didn't go up that year. He was unbelievably good for us too. Every time we sign a midfielder I hope he's going to be the Ryan Yates second coming.

I sort of hope this is true. Norwood would still do a decent job in League 2 but if we sign another striker (and I do think we are a little light there) I'd hope for a more long term prospect than a player who turns 33 in October.

As already said he can take a very good free kick and his corner deliveries aren’t bad either, we have several players ahead of him now so he wasn’t going to get much game time here going in to his final year. He can also play at right back, I think he’ll be an ok signing for you and certainly wish him all the best too.

We are not going to play full backs until after about the tenth game of the season when we realise that a 343 isn't really suitable for league 2.

Well it’s a lot higher up the pyramid than I was expecting him to go. Personally I think there’s a player in there if it can be unlocked, but his attitude keeps coming up time and again, I’ve always thought of Swindon as a tippy tappy good technical side and I think that would suit him. Without checking I think he’s still got another year after this one here but clearly Hughes does not want him so it’s best for everyone he does well with this loan.

Happy with this, unlike Doyle this is a win win for us. We aren’t getting rid of our top scorer with a track record, but a young lad with potential attitude problems. If he succeeds he still has a contract with us so we can get some cash for him next summer. Also if we don’t get promoted Hughes will be gone and he may get a second chance here. If he does shit then at least he’s off the books for a year. Surprised he’s got such a big club at this level though, thought he’d be rocking up at Harrogate at best.

Interesting take! I’ve found Clough to leave us short the last two seasons, hence why injuries have impacted us so much. Usually he’d be happy sticking a striker back there

Clough definitely left us short previous two seasons and until this came about he was going to do it again, there’s a reason he likes players who can cover a few positions.

We literally had one left back last season, hence why we had to chuck Bowery in the deep end.

Not really been like that this summer, obviously Flint is 34, Williams 30 but all other signings have been mid 20s. Lowering the squad age been a thing since January.
