Can tell you’ve never been in non-league. Halifax 2008 have never been in the Football League.

Still Halifax Town to me. Still play at The Shay which is better than a lot of league 2 grounds and would attract a decent following for a small town with 3 football league neighbours on their doorstep.

FC Halifax are similar to the current Bradford (Park Avenue). Or Aldershot.

I’m delighted to be here, I was excited as soon as I heard the club were interested a couple of weeks ago, the manager/DoF really sold the project to me, I’ve always enjoyed coming up against them in the past etc etc.

It’s literally the same quotes every signing, and usually means Jack shit. The player signed because it’s the best/only offer they could get.

Tariq Ukakwe. Any use Crewe fans?
He's got some decent attributes, so I can see why he was at Chelsea so long. But his biggest issue is I just don't see where fits into a system. He just doesn't seem to have a position, he's not really a full back, or a winger or centre mid. But on the same hand he can do a job in any of these positions filling in. Good utility player, but I just don't see him as a starter week in week out at league 2 level.

AND they wouldn’t allocate visiting supporters 900 tickets.

He potentially sounds like a better version of Ellis Iandolo. (who we sold to Colchester) I wonder if Flynn has him pencilled in for LWB. Still not a done deal, but it sounds like it could well be on the cards.

Halifax are a bigger club than FGR without doubt

True. But that wasn’t the point.

The point is they are a reformed club, so if they come up they wouldn’t be returning to the Football League.

Let's not kid ourselves, the average league 2 footballer is getting offers in league 2 for a reason. A large % of these players are going to have a shortish career playing in the lower leagues. Whilst of course career wise they will want to go and play as high up the pyramid as possible but in many many cases, that's simply not going to happen. Family is going to be a big factor but at the end of the day these guys are not fans, given a choice, the vast majority are going to pick whoever pays the most/provides the most security for him and family. Some fans get arsey that a player allegedly picks a 'smaller' club over there's, but it's the nature of the beast.

The new player interview is all PR flim-flam that they've been instructed to say. Who in their right mind is going to actually say without any prompting - 'it's a dream to play in front of these brilliant fans at the Colchester Community Stadium and the clubs ambitions align perfectly with mine'. (No offence to Col U fans, first club that sprang to mind)

It's the same bullshit when a club announce that they've 'beaten off a host of Championship clubs for the signature of Rolando Pizzari from Southall United'. Total merde.

We trialled Uwakwe at LB during this pre-season, looked ok there. Much prefers playing in midfield though, apparently.

You also are rumoured to be in for another of our trialists, Darnell Johnson. Bit frustrating if both end up signing for you as many of us were hoping we’d get them. We’re a bit short of depth or quality.

These sort of players usually do look good - until they break down again.

That’s the gamble you have to take sometimes though.

I mean we did similar with Jordan Moore-Taylor, was known as being pretty injury prone but was worth the risk as he’s quality when fit and played a big part in our promotion. Unfortunately last season he ended up being injured a lot more.

Also our top scorer last season was Connor Wickham, who we actually managed to keep fit for a couple of months. Can’t be many more injury prone players then him..

Wasn’t that due to police advice, though?
Police, SAG, Calderdale Council and FC Halifax all in cahoots together. Was a moot point in the end as the game was postponed but I'm classing that as the club having previous.

Loosely translated: Fax as a club didn’t independently reduce away allocation, but other clubs in this league have.

Glad we cleared that one up. ;)

Anthony Grant signs for Crawley. Signed a short term deal last season. Been with us all pre season.

Few on our message boards saying we're in for James McClean from Wigan.

Would be decent cover for the LWB position but I'd rather we signed a few younger players. Probably a load of bull again anyway

I know he's fairly high profile but is he even better than Mendy though? Does seem like cover.

Not sure a player like McClean's coming down here to sit on the bench. An interesting one.
