Stockport County.
Fantastic signing for Bradford in Sarcevic. They will be right up there next season. Never seen a midfielder get close to him, read his game etc. Always two steps ahead. Good luck to him. The footballers footballer. We should have kept him IMO. Signing of the summer won already for L2 and its not even June yet.

It probably was last summer. Only stumbling block was our conference north budget
It’s ok though as i have it on very good authority from somebody known for talking absolute sense that you will blow everybody out of the water with your budget this season.

Nicky Cadden is rumoured to be on his way to us after being released by Barnsley.

I would be very delighted as he was great for Barnsley the previous year and for Forest Green before then.

Just what we need, L1 level players.
Are you going to be doing this all summer, linking name after name and getting them all wrong? Because it's going to get tiring really quick.

I don’t think Simpson is telling the truth there.

Whether that’s to lower expectations of the likes of Carver or to lower demands of potential transfer targets/agents.

From what the owners have said I expect them to back the manager in the transfer market a bit more than “mid table”. We spent big, sorry I mean wasted a load of money in January and they’ve said the budget will be further increased.

But as クレイグ rightly says, when Abbott is head of recruitment it doesn’t matter whether we have a top budget or a conference north budget like 2 seasons ago.

Didn't your owners say the day after that Simpson budget comment, on either Radio Cumbria or in whatever your local paper is called that you had a budget that was at least playoffs?

Not sure, I didn’t hear it if they did. But it would surprise me, I don’t see any benefit in broadcasting your budget level going into a summer transfer window.

The stupidest thing any club can do is broadcast they have a big budget. You're just at the mercy of mercenaries and agents looking for a quick payday. It's no surprise that quite a few club who have given it large about budgets usually end up struggling or, in the worst case scenario, actually get relegated.

As we all know, once Managers start making claims like this in the summer and in pre-season it means the budget is absolutely fucking massive.

Our budget is massive and I think it could very well be the biggest that has been at this level by any club ever.

First real rumour for us is Joe Sbarra can only see that being right if someone has made an offer for Isaac Hutchinson.

Sbarra heavily linked with us as well, wouldn’t be a surprise, we were very close to signing him when we were still in the NL. We don’t need him, but we do collect small attacking midfielders like they’re Pokémon cards.

You need a defence more than anything!

In your expert opinion, what do we need more than anything? What position should we prioritise on spending our huge imaginary budget?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
a good budget is needed to do ok at this level but mass spending can mean b*gger all here is a few sides failed miserably spending very big.

All the talk here on Bradfords first signing just seems like de ja vue over many previous big spending ‘signing of the season’ failures they have had.

Then you have Mansfield who have done more this season on a moderate budget than they ever did a few seasons back with their money profile signings, Salford waste money for fun, FGR went down splashing more money than most.

Seem to remember notts struggling or even going down while spending lots

Getting a good solid team unity, hard working aspect and high positive morale are for me the bigger factors, then adding that 2-3 pieces of quality.

That is carlisle and Bradfords big major issue as we head to summer, expect both budget wise will be along the best but Dan morale, squad morale, expectation and pressure…….all over the place at both.

Must admit that as soon as I saw he was available my first thought was that he was a shoe-in to be in a Notts shirt come August. Just seems a perfect fit.

I would have agreed a season or two ago but far from convinced he's what we need right now or if he's good enough. Do heart issues resolve themselves? I thought they tended to be an impediment for life, hope I'm wrong about that and he's fine.
Watched the play-off final and he was subbed before the 90 was up without looking particularly effective. I don't think he's as good as Dan Crowley and wasn't as good as Rodriguess in the NL so would have reservations on him coming to us.

Sbarra couldn’t be a more obvious Notts signing. I don’t actually think we’re flush with attacking midfielders anyway, Crowley’s great obviously and Sam Austin is bang average at best for me so he could be an upgrade there. Just depends on what his health is like and if he can get back to where he was a couple of seasons ago.

I’ve got this sinking feeling that we’re going to sign Ash Taylor.

1. We are in the market for a centre back after releasing Huntington and Whelan.
2. Greg Abbott is our head of recruitment. His scouting areas are Yorkshire clubs and Crystal Palace reserves. That’s it.
3. We have this tradition of signing ex Bradford players.

It would be an awful signing but I can actually see it. To cancel his contract at Bradford means he’s got a club lined up you would think.

The only silver lining being it might shut carver up for a few weeks

As funny as this would be I can’t see it. He won’t play league football again.

As Wilsden Bantam alludes to, Taylor will end up in non league or Scotland. Not good enough for league 2, I'm sure even Abbo will recognise that.

Talking of Abbo, a firm favourite here as a player in the 80's, a great character.

We're allegedly on the verge of signing Chelmsford City's Luke Jenkins - 21yo, centre half, won their POTY. Other than that I don't have a whole lot of info!

Released by us at the end of 22/23. Quite a few of our supporters were surprised especially as he scored on his league debut.
