Sbarra heavily linked with us as well, wouldn’t be a surprise, we were very close to signing him when we were still in the NL. We don’t need him, but we do collect small attacking midfielders like they’re Pokémon cards.
We are also in for Sbara, he has signed for our director of football before as ours was prev at Solihull.

We're allegedly on the verge of signing Chelmsford City's Luke Jenkins - 21yo, centre half, won their POTY. Other than that I don't have a whole lot of info!
Good player, was only released by us as we had too many centre backs and we felt he needed to play men's football.

Sounds promising, thanks. Not sure where he'd fit into the pecking order as centre half is probably our strongest area with Masterson, Ehmer, Ogie and even Robbie McKenzie as an option. Could be that we'll play Ogie left back though, that was tried a bit at the end of the season.

In terms of potential 'outs', there have been offers for Hawkins, Malone and Lapslie of the transfer listed players, while Dom Jefferies is likely to reject a new deal (expected) and sign for either Millwall (again, expected) or head off to a Hungarian club (slightly left-field). I believe if he goes abroad then we'd receive absolutely nothing as a compensation fee which would be a bit crap.

After having 3 terrible senior goalkeepers last season, our big brain move for 24/25 is to avoid them completely and play a child in goal. We’re linked with a loan for 17 year old Sunderland keeper Matty Young.

I imagine it may be a bit difficult to move Hawks and Laps with the money involved? Guessing you’ll let them go for nowt.

They aren't good enough to warrant a transfer fee now, just getting them out the club is what we're after. They did their job for us back in 22/23.

Wyke is mentioned in the replies to that tweet.

Anything in that or is it people putting 2 and 2 together because he’s ex Bradford?

Would be a hell of a signing. Saw him last season and he’s still comfortably a top end League 1 player.

He's best mates with Alex Gilliead. Wyke was on his stag do along with Andy Cook. He has also been to a few of our away games. Nothing in at all. That's just my opinion though. Like you say, probably a top-end player in the league above.

That’s directly from Sharpe, we tried to sign him last summer but Stockport comfortably outbid us.

He's been here for 18 months, he was out of contract last summer though.

Decent defender for L2, not sure he's a starter for a team wanting promotion though.

Hoping he's a backup option if he does sign. Can't be as bad as Ash Taylor.

Undisclosed fee. Think we've played a blinder there tbh. If he was out of contract, I'm certain he'd have been released.

Wish him well at Bradford.

Grimsby fans should wait until they unveil their usual procession of random no hopers before criticising anyone else's recruitment
I guess if you're gonna pipe up like a Billy Big Bollocks then doing it when you've finished above us for only the second or third time in about million years is as good a time as any to do it!

Future England Goalie- nailed on. Was a massive part of why we didn't get relegated last season - once he arrived the whole defence just gained confidence. Doesn't look 17 - big unit and not afraid of clearing people out coming for corners/crosses. Not phased at all by men's football, which is the worry at our level with youth players. Obviously a lower level, but the best young goalie i've seen at Darlo - we had Pickford and Kaspar Schmeicel on loan at roughly same age, and i'd say Young was more talented than both.

especially when they had to spend 10 times what we did to accomplish that achievement too.

I mean it's the second time in three years. And it'll probably be a while before you finish above us again so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Anyway, I didn't start it. Paul Haddock mentioned us for no apparent reason. We may overpay for players-because everyone knows we've got money- but there isn't much to criticise about our recruitment apart from that.

Enjoy another summer of mad non league quality signings you all get over excited about amd I'll enjoy our over the hill ex-Prem mercenaries.

Wasn’t criticising you overpaying, was more that your transfer approach is essentially picking the best, successful players without much thought to the overall strategy. But with the levels of money, I suppose it doesn’t really matter that much!

Expecting and probably hoping that our summer is following a Crawley-type approach and we’ll be signing Woking’s reserve left-back. We don’t and probably won’t have the money to ever splash - can’t honestly remember the last genuine wow signing we made. If Sarcevic had signed for us I’d have filled my pants.
