Will Wight from Crawley. Another giant.

Going from tippy tappy to hoofball?

Wright is a heck of a signing for Swindon. I know it’s become of a cliche to say ‘woah he should be playing in League 1’ about everyone who signs for a League 2 team but genuinely thought he’d leave Crawley for a better L1 side. Maybe some recency bias as I only watched him in the playoffs though

They will be doing a FGR at this rate. Get promoted, lose your best players, have an inferior squad in a higher league, and straight back down.
Depends. WAGMI obviously have never been short of confidence, but they seem confident that in season 2 they did find the cheat code for recruitment, and honestly, I'm not sure they're mistaken.
I don't think they even really bother with scouts any more. Look at the data, and then get Lindsey to ring around and find out about their character.
This season will tell. It would have ben hard even if they'd retained their squad, but I'm allowing for the possibility that they might have cracked the data.

Thing about being a data bro is that the pond you will now have to fish in is essentially leagues 1 and 2 rather than NLN/S and NL. Their numbers won't translate to L1 as easily as those leagues did to League 2. Hiring from the FL is a lot more expensive and a lot harder to persuade people to uproot their families and move to Sussex. Luckily you have a great manager and don't have Dale Vince so you might be ok

We held a fans forum last night, including a rare public appearance from owner, Stefan Rupp (yar).

It was confirmed that we are currently 2/3 players short with where GA wants us to be - which aligns with my predictions from yesterday.

A fan asked if we’re attempting to sign Charlie Wyke. David Sharpe boringly responded with not being able to discuss any transfer proceedings. But the optimist in me thinks that if we weren’t in pursuit of Wyke, we’d just come out and say it, surely?

You're not signing Charlie Wyke.:lol::lol:

He's coming to us apparently.

Where you heard this? There’s not even a whisper of this at our end.

Or are you trying to draw out carver? :bg:
Told you :bg:

Apparently we made a really good offer but you gazumped us just before he was due to sign. Oh well, from what I've seen, he's good but it's not the end of the world.

Brought in Sam Hart on a 2 year deal. Had him years ago on loan from Liverpool but no idea how he’s played since other than he seems a bit of a relegation jinx with his last few clubs like Sam Foley used to be. Needed a left back anyway and the less I have to see Dan Jones will take it.

sam hart signed for us, 2 year deal, remember the name but can't really recall his loan spell in 2016.

relegated in league 2 at each of his last 3 clubs, over the past 4 seasons...yikes..

but, he is probably a better left back than our youth acaedmy graduate right winger who we decided to go into a league one campaign with as starting choice left wing back (after selling an actuall left wing back)

He was young, remember he scored v Bolton.

Have to be honest not overly enthused by that signing.

Fingers crossed for number 4

there's always a chance but we have decided to actually sign a left back and we even signed a striker last week. maybe this season we might even win a few games after christmas!

I think you'll be OK! I'd expect you to be pushing at the top end looking at the signings you've made so far

Just wait for our usual injury crisis to hit, that one has transcended multiple regimes at Vale.

I’m looking at Hart as at least we have a round peg in a round hole for once at that position. Anyone who saw that shower of shit England put out last night only have to see the end result of playing players out of their natural positions.

the signings have been better than i was expecting, there were rumours that carol was going to put her hand in her pocket to right her mistakes from last season...she had to do something because you can't expect paying fans to keep paying when you fail to sign strikers over multiple years. we knew what we needed in january to avoid relegation and still didn't go out and sign one, so i can only assume the financial hit of relegation is smaller than what we were being asked to over pay for strikers in january...

anyway...our squad does weirdly have some talent, midfield is pretty good, keeper is pretty good, defence was dreadful last season but I honestly think that was down to coaching and/or tactics in games.

vale fans know all about being a league two struggler, there were a good few season where we were staring down the barrel in this league, and our squad is infinitely better than some of the utter shit we had then...but...difficult to turn a losing mentality around.

at this moment in time there's too many unknowns for me to say we will go and do well although the signings so far have eased that a bit.

Edwards was superb at Woking last season considering he’d kind of just returned to England looking for a club for a bit (Bostock-esque) so pretty happy with that. Another technical player though so maybe still missing a bit of bite in midfield

Weird one. I presume this guy will be cover, but it feels like County are basically just signing anybody at this point.
