A million? That’s absurd.
£150k on Paton
£200k on Hall apparently
£250k on Tolaj generally runoured
Stockley won’t have been dirt cheap would he? So probably £750-800k so far.

for what its worth, we've clearly got a much bigger budget than we've had before and i'd be surprised if it's not a top 2-3 budget in this league.

i've never been in the position as a vale fan to have fans of other clubs moan about how much we're spending and in fact there's not many clubs out there who've had as shit a time as we have in the last 25 years, so im a bit uncomfortable with the newness of this spending and the pressure of most people thinking we should be challenging for the autos at least now.

our squad absolutely knocks spots off of what was left in january last season, but ive said before and ill say again, stopping the rot...2 years of massive losing streaks is not easy, moore has work to do on the training ground if he's going to realise the potential of these new signings.
Also look at it this way. We sold Forrester, The lad to Villa for big money, the kid to Newcastle for £200k, got money for Yak and Loft so we’ve had decent incoming finance too from those.

A million? That’s absurd.
i think thats very upper end.

the generally accepted rumours of prices that ive seen are something like

stockley low 6 figures
tolaj anywhere from 150k-400k according to his previous clubs fans, i'd be surprised if we have spent 400k on a player though and some of them reckon they had a 150k release clause
paton - possible release clause of 150k but not really a solid rumour, i suspect it's slightly higher than that, some queens park fan the other day was saying he'd turn down 500k for him, and there's a 0% chance we've paid close to that in my opinion.
hall - colchester fans reckon it's near 200k, i'd be absolutely amazed if we've paid anything close to that and i don't even see how colchester can ask for 200k never mind someone pay it. 31 year old, not overly happy there and had a bad 6 months...if we came in and chucked them 50k they'd take it.

even at the low end, it's far more than we've ever spent before (going back to the mid 90s when we were shelling out decent fees funded by player sales. I'd be very surprised if it's close to 1m but it's likely at least 500k on fees alone.

Surely you wouldn’t have paid a fee for Stockley. Decent wage, sure - but a fee?

Undisclosed fee. He was under contract and scored a few for Fleetwood last season so would want a fee.

yeah fair point and we've got saleable assets in the squad which we have never had in the past. Dipepa possibly going for a big fee at some point this season, shorrock breaking through into the first team squad, not beyond reason that someone could chuck 100k at us for an ojo/ripley. we'd want more than that for a garrity/chizzy.

Well, yes that’s fine. We’ve signed Grant Hall from QPR. Only ever played in the Championship, bit older than Byers but a similar low games to age ratio.

They’re punts.
if you spend 30 seconds looking at wiki as a swindon fan yes.

otherwise byers has played twice as many games as hall in the last few seasons and fans from both his former clubs are shocked he has dropped to league two. its a coup at this level.

Junior Tiensia, Barra fans?

We are in desperate need of a defender after losing Aimson, Jules and Hartridge
he's a quick and strong attacking full back. started well for us last season before getting nobbled by an MK Dons thug in late October which kept him out for most of the season. Fully recovered now.

Just heard Kamarai Simon-Swyer is training at Gillingham. It will be interesting to see how he does. He was in loan with Crawley last season.

He would have mad five minutes where he looked like a competition winner then would revert to being quite good.

Played the first half of our friendly with Millwall at the weekend, seems to have done well enough to stay training with us for the time being.

You guys need to take a leaf out of Gillingham books and downplay your spending ASAP.

Oddly after our early signings there's only one club who've signed fewer players than us this summer (Harrogate). I'm happy with our 4 but the business other clubs have been doing certainly has put us well down the 'big spenders' column for this summer so far. Vale putting us all to shame!

Potentially one our best players, really pacey with a brilliant deft touch for a defender, was gutted he was injured a couple of months in.....really hope this is just loose talk and no weight to any club coming in sniffing

Just when you think you've got rid of three BIG spenders in Stockport Wrexham and Mansfield. Along comes Port Vale splashing the cash. This financial willy nilly behaviour can only end in promotion.

Still have largely the same defence so we have to sort that to have a chance really.

Hall for Yak is one but still need another dominant centre half and the cover at right and left back ideally needs improving.

If we resolve those then il be excited.

I see Mellon has gone to Stockport on a season long loan from Burnley. Didn’t Notts think he could have been a replacement for Longstaff??

I have zero feelings about Port Vale but while ever Moore is in charge I hope they crash and burn

I think there was a rumour or two, not surprised he has ended up in L1 though. Most of the possible replacements Notts fans had identified have been snapped up I think (Paton was another who people had mentioned), other than Brown at Derby who was at Gateshead last season. Could see us looking abroad again to be fair, we have one slot left and not many other gaps in the squad to fill.

Port Vale going wilder than a Kappa Alpha Theta jock on Spring Break in this window. Genuinely don't think I've seen these levels of spending at this level before. Making Wrexham look thrifty. Pressure well and truly on and only the title will do.
Why do you think we've signed George Byers, who would be one of the best players in League One, let alone League Two? Because of his relationship with Darren Moore.
Haha yes you're right, it's definitely nothing to do with you offering him more money than anyone else.

Don’t worry, I think it’s a case of a very loose Twitter rumour. Basically we have some lad with dreds who’s training with us on our preseason trip to Cornwall and someone wondered if it was Tiensia as he does look similar.

Seems like it’s actually a young defender from Rangers with an even harder name to pronounce!

Tolu Ladapo getting his third match as a trialist for us tonight against Boston. We've also got Henry Fieldson a 19 year old CB from Sunderland and Jim Simms 20 year old striker previously at Hull.

Yeah, Byers appearance statistics are misleading. He spent the first few years of his career with Swansea when they were in the prem. Played a lot more recently.

We were linked with Paton according to the tier 1 source Carver.

He looks decent from the little bits I’ve seen, but as mentioned League 2 is completely different to the Scottish Championship, especially in terms of physicality. We have brought in a left back from that level in Cameron Harper who also looks quality, but it could go either way with these players. It went a bad way for Hartlepool a few years back when Hartley raided those leagues. This is why I’d feel a lot more comfortable if we brought in an experienced left back to compete with Harper for the left back spot in case it does take time for him to adapt to L2 football.

Ladapo just scored again a very nice finish too, I reckon we’ll be offering him something.

I think we're one striker and two midfielders short at least and a decent back up keeper. I hope we sign some first team ready players rather than entirely punting on prospects for tomorrow.
