Been really impressed by Northampton's business. Danny Rose isn't a bad signing. Sad to see him go actually, been a good servant to the club. Just not in the same class as Lundstram and Sercombe. Partnered Sercombe well early on though, and was good cover across midfield. Would have thought he'd go somewhere where he'd be first choice? Assume he won't be at Sixfields?

Byrom and O'Toole are first choice. We've got back up for O'Toole but not for Byrom so that's where he'll slot in. He'll probably play quite a few games as we've got a packed schedule.

He's excellent cover. His form dips when he's not playing games regularly but if money was no object, I'd be much happier with him on the bench than Josh Ruffels.

We're trying to sign a defender, very 11th hour and not something we've done before. No names mentioned yet but apparently touch and go about whether we can get it over the line in time.

It looks as if we're signing nobody, a bit disappointed in all honesty. Our team is lacking, and we'll struggle for a playoff position with the current squad in my opinion.

Especially with the FA Cup and TV money?

We've signed Irish-American defender Shane O'Neil on loan for the rest of the season from Cypriot side Apallon Limassol.

Yep, I've never heard of him either.

Rarely do we spend money on a player. Not only do we have the recent cup money, but we earned a fair chunk from our visit to Anfield earlier in the season, and sold 2 promising youngsters in the summer for reasonable amounts (£400000+ combined).

Interesting to hear this is how our window has been perceived though. We have three out, three in and another re-signed after a loan move. Given that our best player has left, I'm actually a bit worried we haven't done more.

I think Northampton have had a blinder though. Without doubt, Wilder's strength is his signings.

I thought Roofe was your best player?

The money's still there, not worth spending for the sake of it when we can just try to keep the team together in the summer and sign some players under the right circumstances. Team is much the same as the one which has got us this far so a play-off push still isn't off the cards.

Well we needed at least 2 players for a promotion push IMO. This was the time to get them with all the games in hand we've got coming up.

But typical Carlisle, start improving after some dismal years, then when the opportunity comes to strengthen and push on, we don't!

So we can kiss goodbye to a promotion/playoff push now.

Well now I'm uber pissed off with Mark Tyler - the most professional player we've had in many a year, says something like that to a rag, to a journalist who seems to enjoy rubbing our noses in it.

He's 38-39 and wants to sit on a bench for the rest of his career?! For a "dream" move? He's never wanted to leave before.

I hope Luton make an example of him now.

They can't afford a fee yet just got nearly £3m for Conor Washington? This is Peterborough tapping players up again pure and simple.

What's worse - some Luton fans think we should let him go for nothing... For loyalty!! Are they insane? Minutes to go until the deadline with an unconvincing Justham and the youth team keepers.

Well, according to you lot, you're not going anywhere this season, so it looks to me that it's not such a bad time for Tyler to leave. Not for free though.

Stump up the cash and we're talking. A 39yo with a dodgy back. Hmm.

It would be an insane time to let him go. 24 hours before a game and another game before the loan window.

McAnthony was boasting about it on Twitter earlier.

I'm incredibly disappointed in him. That is not the way to do business.

Can't complain with our transfer activity, freed up some wages and got a proven target man who scored 18 in league one last season.

Thought Tubbs might have gone today, maybe he'll go on loan when the window opens.

Absolutely not. This is not the first time they've tapped one of our players up.

And you've brought in our old goalkeeper Ryan Allsop. He was brought in as back up to Jamie Jones and Lee Butcher as they were both out injured, Allsop came in and was really impressive in League One. We offered him a new deal as he was only on a short term contract but he turned it down to sign for Bournemouth. Had a spell at Coventry and their fans were a lot less impressed, but he should be a good signing for you lot.
A good signing is Allsop as he's played in The Premier League for Bournemouth this season so has experience that should calm our defenderes down as they didn't look confident with Alex Lynch behind them but he'll miss a few games after the injury he picked up at Plymouth last Saturday.

Some good signings in this division yesterday. Particularly impressed with Smith, Allsop and Ismail amongst others.

We didn't need to sign anyone as we trumped you all, with Rory Fallon signed before Saturday's game :cool1:

I agree that Baldock would have won player of the year if he'd stayed. Surely Roofe now though over the two central midfielders?

I don't know the answer to that. Roofe really has everything he needs to succeed at a high level, but he needs to take control of games and have a bigger impact to win this outright. It might well be the role he is being asked to play. In terms of talent, he is definitely top of the current squad for me. Can't really weigh up his goals against the impact that Sercome and Lundstram have in dictating the general play. Without doubt they're the three most important though.

We've signed James Pearson, son of Nigel and involved in Thai-gate, on non-contract terms.

We had him on loan a couple of seasons ago. Cannot really remember whether he's good or not.

Yes Greg I so agree with you that we should just give up all hope of making the play offs and our team should concentrate on doing absolutely nothing for the rest of the season, regardless of us having many games in hand.

I like the way you think!

What are you talking about? You've just made stuff up. Is it the drugs?

Where did I mention we should give up? Me saying I think we can kiss goodbye to promotion doesn't mean I think the players should stop playing until next season.

Apparantly we tried to get Adnan Januzaj on loan from Man Utd, but he turned us down for some reason and no Greg I'm not on any drugs.
