We’ve loaned out midfielder Tim Akinola to Dagenham on a ‘long term loan’ so either 6 months or for the whole season…

I think it’s a slightly strange one in that he only re-signed this summer, but in all honesty I never felt Cook fancied him fully the first time round that we had him so I was surprised Cook re-signed him, and now he’s been loaned out after only being back a few months.

He’s definitley more suited to a team that plays with a 3 in midfield where box-to-box midfielders are used as that’s his game to a tee, loads of energy.

Good luck to him. Be interesting to see if we bring another midfielder in but personally think we have enough cover there with Banks, Oldaker, Naylor & Jones. All depends on if Cook see’s Naylor as our CB long term or if he’s planning on moving him back into midfield..

Yea weird one but hope he does well. Smells a tiny bit of bad asset management, but I expect we'll see someone come in before cop.

Makes me think Robertson will be out a while or we aren't 100% on our existing options. Any news on Robertson's injury?

One of the soundbites from last night's Fans Forum was that we won;t pay over the odds for players despite the new ownership, so that would likely be a reason you won't see much movement from us for Swan and Crowley.

We have now been linked with Ken Aboh and Kane Thompson-Sommers today though, and I know nothing about them.
Has there been a fan’s forum where someone says they are willing to pay over the odds for players?

Robertson was ill apparently rather than injured but don’t know for sure. Someone who watched on the tele said he came over to the touchline looking pale and took some pills or something a few mins before he came off, and he did just walk off rather than look injured.

I always really rated that Akinola at Chesterfield, would’ve loved him here, but his career seems to be going a bit weird.

That Abbott signed on a season loan. You’d think Spurs’ under 21s captain should be good, but who knows with these loans really.

"our first objective is promotion but we're not going to spend £5m next year, dig out every journeyman from a higher league and say we'll blow everyone away"
Yeah this bit as well is the bit I was thinking about, I think it’s fair to say, they were fibbing.

Ollie Tipton was Wolves captain wasn't he?

Problem with Premier League teams is the amount of players on their books \ teams they have

Under 18s, Under 21s, Under 23s, reserves etc.

He looks very thin and lightweight which for this division is concerning. Would expect Spurs will want him to get a certain amount of playing time too

Comparison would be Matthew Craig who was with Donny last season. For me Craig is the better of the two albeit a little older and more developed. Must admit Abbott didn't stand out much to me in a couple of viewings last season but as a footballer he's tidy and will keep the ball moving - so will probably do ok in a Notts shirt.

He has the pedigree but you never quite know. Our midfield options, presuming Robertson and Palmer will be fit are looking ridiculously strong. Never known us to have the number of players to choose from in midfield, arguably seven.

Noticed that Kennedy has never put his name to one of your signings so far, he's got sloping shoulders and won't put his name to anything.

Might be too early into the season but it'll come a point where he'll be asked about injuries and he'll say something like, "...it's not my area, I leave that up to the medical team. I stay in my lane and they tell me who's available and who isn't.".

And that's a huge turnaround to not very long ago.

Carlisle/Fleetwood/Vale fans. Is Danny Butterworth absolutely pony?

Pretty much what the Vale fans have said. He’s been with us a year and I still don’t know what he is. Winger, number 10, a striker. I’ve no idea.

One day he’ll look like he can terrorise any defender in the league, but then he’ll have 5 games where you don’t even notice him on the pitch. If he can find consistency there may be a player, but he hasn’t with us and don’t think he’ll get the chance.

Is there talk of him going to you or something?

Transfer fees haven't been excessive (generally). It's the wages where we are going hog wild.

All the transfer fees we've paid over the last four years would only add up to one Birmingham City signing.

It's not just the number either. We've signed a physically bigger group of players and don't look like we're going to be bullied in there this season.
Hinchy in particular looks like the sort of young lad we’ve signed in the past who’s been a bit powder puff but he’s surprised me with how strong he’s been in the tackle. Has put a right couple of crunchers in.

Certainly appears we’ve really taken on a few lessons from last season.

Not a new signing but massive news for us nonetheless in Ben Garrity signing a new deal, came in 2021 told he was crap by Oldham fans… 10 plus goals from midfield in 2 of the three seasons with us and now captain. Most expected he would stay in L1 so been a real boost to keep hold of him.

I liked Butterworth, reminded me a lot of Louis Dodds as said can’t really pin a position on him, probably best as a number 10 but on the night we ended Plymouths 10 game 100% win record at home sure he played left side and he absolutely terrorised them.

Doesn’t really do tap ins! Surprised he hasn’t pushed on a bit more as seems to have not done a great deal at Carlisle.

In the after game presser on Saturday MK mentioned that he was a great admirer of the player and knew him personally. I'd say that makes him pretty influential in getting the player to drop into Div 4 wouldn't you?

Rumour our end that Young is going to Derby which I can't imagine is true.

Where ever Young goes and for whatever fee, we owe Swindon big time as that eventual figure is based entirely on those four good months out of a career of four or so years.

We’ve got a couple more outgoings, Quigs being one (unlucky Forest Green) and another incoming atleast

Plenty of movement, glad we are finally thinning the squad out a bit
