Our 3rd signing of the day and sixth striker, is Jimmy Spencer. Extremely busy day at home park today!

Obviously deemed not good enough for Aberdeen, who then proceed to sign a player who was playing for Exeter City.

Figures.

Cambridge fans, who's Jimmy Spencer? Just through reading our forum it seems you lot rated him and expected him to sign on but we've pipped you to it by all accounts.

Jimmy is a decent striker - excellent first touch, good at holding the ball up and supreme at winding up opposition centre halves. Not big or quick but a reasonable finisher.

We offered him a contract a few weeks back but hadn't heard and the noises coming out of the club where that he wasn't expected to sign - no idea if he was unhappy with the wages, length of contract or expectation of his role in the team?

The system Derry seems to want to play is 4-2-3-1 and with Corr and Williamson already signed up he might have felt his opportunities as the 1 would be limited. Certainly there were times last season when he was behind Williamson in the pecking order and you have to assume that a fully fit Corr will start most games.

He'll do well for you.

Really good striker Spencer, doesn't miss many chances, can do it both in the air and on the ground, I suppose the only criticism you can really level at him is that he's one of those awkwardly in between strikers in that he's not a target man nor blessed with pace, but he knows how to make the most of it.

Would've loved to have kept him but it sounds like it was never going to happen from the start, presumably because we couldn't guarantee him a starting place (and the wages to go with it).

I think Hudds is spot on. I don't know when Corr will be fully fit, but it's safe to say he will be Derry's No 1 choice when he's back. I liked him a lot as a striker as he's one of those who'll get stuck in, but he can also get frustrated easily esp. when he thinks his teammates' passing could be better.

Still, overall, I reckon he's a very good signing, certainly good enough for a promotion chasing L2 side. But I have to go and change my avatar now :(

Nathan Jones expecting a couple more players to sign before they travel to Hungary on Monday. Our business so far:

1. Alan Sheehan (D LC) - Free; Bradford City
2. Johnny Mullins (D C) - Free; Oxford United
3. Danny Hylton (ST) - Free; Oxford United
4. Christian Walton (GK) - Season Long Loan; Brighton & Hove Albion
5. Glen Rea (D C, DM C) - £40,000; Brighton & Hove Albion

Dom Vose signs for us on loan for the season, with the option of a recall in Jan. Very pleased!

Spencer will never get 20 goals or be sold on for big money but he's a very solid foil if you've got a poacher alongside him, while he's not a dominant target man he's a mobile one with a quite outrageously good first touch. Fuck all pace though when it comes to running in behind and he's only 6'0 so as someone else said, a bit of a tweener type. A loveable bloke though and most importantly, he's not Jon fucking Stead which was a good enough reason to keep him.

Nat Knight-Percival, no idea who he is but he has a surname like a thoroughly smug Tory MP

He was brilliant for York and he is a brilliant signing, not a clue how a Mansfield fan can say that,he arrived and put 100% every game and that is something I could not say about many last season,at one point I told my son to watch Lewis because rest are a waist of space, would of loved to see him back here, you won't struggle with him in a descent team

But harsh. This is a transfer rumour thread, I'm simply relaying information that I've been given about a future transfer that is likely to happen.
If this does happen I will be a little disappointed as I thought he was going to be a major player in our season. I suppose we can only hope we get a good financial deal (with sell-on, etc) so that we can replace him. Carlisle must be in the money!

I was also very pleased until i remembered that the Orient fan said he was shit because he saw him play once, now that has put a dampener on me being overly happy with this signing....

Two cracking signings for us today, time for a striker or 3 now.

A big brute forward/winger with an unpronounceable name next up I'm told, on a THREE year deal.

You should probably talk with Eric Read about finding a counsellor for your E10 Rifle obsession.

Would complete our entirely new defence.

We're quietly putting together a decent team this year, I think. He'd be the fifth signing with experience of promotion from this league. Still need a winger or two and a striker, though. Bring me the lord Jonathan Forte.

He's going to crop up somewhere in the London Region, we need another winger ideally as a squad player - So I haven't ruled us out signing him in my own world!

I'm struggling on the wank fest that is Matt Green given that no team out of L2 wants him. He's a striker a commodity at most levels yet!!!!!!
