Was the midfielder Conor Thomas? Davis mentioned he'd gone to Dubai, ties in with Thomas' instagram.

Anyway, signed for Swindon.

As a fellow person who chose life in Swindon over life in Crewe this Summer, I really can't blame him...

Dread to think who our marquee midfield signing will be now if someone who barely played last season was Davis' #1 target.

I can't see anything in Thomas that made him such a stand out target (besides the U-24, lots of games as a youngster, ex-Eng youth aspect). This terrible recruitment (Masked as "can't compete") is all part of the "We are Crewe" package that needs wiping out.

In fact, I'm so angry I might buy a season ticket*. That seems to be the level most fans are at.

*not in a million fecking years.

We've got James Baillie training with us at the minute, RB from Crewe. Was he released?

We've signed Rowan Liburd from Reading. He's a striker who had a spell with Wycombe last season, where he played 10 times without scoring. We've actually paid a fee for him so hopefully he'll end up with a better strike rate for us.

Yeah. Broke through a couple of years ago and looked a decent prospect (emphasis on prospect) then almost overnight last season it seemed Davis & co came to the conclusion he wasn't/won't be good enough and he kinda vanished. Some argue he wasn't given a fair chance but when Super Ollie Turton is taking up your natural position then you stand no chance of getting a good run of games at Gresty Road.

We have Tom Miller as our right back & David Atkinson can cover that position, so we're not desperate, but No harming in looking at him to see if he'll add something.

Rumour is he signed for you on Friday just waiting for Pompey to confirm. Hopefully true that will leave just 3 unwanted players out of 8. I thought we would struggle to be rid of at least 6, all in all its been a good summer so far.
funny Oldham seem to rate him

We were heavily linked with him in January but he got injured, highly rated by all accounts

Jordan Bowery has signed from Oxford. Am I right to be underwhelmed?

We have signed Jordan Cook after he turned down a contract at Walsall. A forward apparently, although his goal record isn't great for the games he has played.

Not sure where he fits in the picture as you would expect Marriott and Hylton to be ahead of him in the pecking order there.

I was sort of hoping we'd sign him. More of a wide forward based on his loan spell with us a few years back. Won't get many goals but has a bit of pace and can go past people.

Very decent signing.

Cooks a weird one. He is uninspiring at striker yet thinks of himself as one. He isn't fast enough to play wide, too creative to play lone striker but not creative enough to play in the hole.

I was surprised when we offered him a contract as he wasn't great for us, especially for the wages he was on. Was uninspiring on the wing in the first season and then sat on the bench as back up to Bradshaw for the second.

I think he'll do well in League 2 if he can find and nail down position. Personally I think he would be a half decent second striker, this is where his best performances for us came from, but we had Sawyers playing in the hole all season so he had few opportunities to play there as our formation never really allowed for us to play 2 up top.

Back in January Becchetti chose Gnanduillet ahead of Bowery, IMO Bowery is the better player and we should've got him then.

5 strikers on the books now for us.

Jay Simpson, Paul McCallum, Ollie Palmer, Armand Gnanduillet and Jordan Bowery.

Wonder if Gnanduillet or Palmer will be allowed to leave, they're the likely names to be sold or sent out on loan.

But with no loan window, we may well be going in with 5 strikers.

Chris Dagnall signs. Decent signing by our standards. Few concerns, namely no goals in the Scottish Championship(L1/L2 standard?) for Hibs in the 2nd half of last season, but he was money for Rochdale when he was last in L2 and he's scored against us a few times. Also did well with Orient in L1.

Happy with this, him and Lowe should be a potent strike force and if the likes of Saunders and Udoh can chip in, we should have enough firepower to keep us well clear of danger and maybe even somewhere around mid table. Who's getting the balls to them will be the issue now.

The Scottish Championship is no more than National League standard, look at the number of ex-League 2/National League players there currently are in the SPL.

Is he left footed or right out of interest?

Apparently signing Chris Dagnall?

Good striker at this level. Will work his nuts off and run the channels all day long. Misses his fair share of chances but - as per the adage - at least he gets in the position to do so. Should suit your tippy-tappy fancy dan bollocks style of football to a tee. Would have liked him back at Orient, had we not signed Bowery today.

Right footed.

Thanks for that! Interesting, I thought we'd be more in the market for a natural leftie. Suspect we'll be playing a mix of 4-3-3 and a narrow 4-4-2 diamond this season so I guess we'll be looking for him to play a mix of out wide and occasionally up front. Maybe even at the top of a diamond at times if we go that way often as our first choice front two seems nailed down already.

Happy with Jordan Cook. We definitely needed a wide player, although I agree I thought we'd go for a natural left winger.

I think we need an attacking midfielder and now probably a holding center mid to replace Doyle since his injury and we're done. Shaping up nicely.
