that's kind of what I feared. If that attitude persists I suspect we'll be looking to shift him out before long. We can't afford players who are only good for a luxury super-sub turn now and again.

I'd say this is pretty much spot on. I wouldn't have minded him, but with Marriott, Hylton, McQuiod, CMS and Banton, there isn't room. I don't think he excels at anything enough to warrant making space for him either.

Regardless, a fair amount of our fans were needlessly dickish towards him.

Hylton's a good signing, you expect him to go straight into the first team?

I'd be surprised if he didn't. CMS is injured for the first few months of the season, Banton is young and unproven and McQuoid tends to play more as a winger. I reckon we'll play a diamond with Hylton and Marriott up top.

What's Bayo like at whining at refs?

He will complain if he feels that he's been unfairly penalised. Being the size he is, he just has to stand still and oppo players will bounce off him. Numerous free kicks have been awarded against him, many not deserved, and he gets frustrated. He was sent off last season for abusing the ref after such an incident.

What he will bring to you is publicity, which a club in L2 will always benefit from.

We had a friendly on Sat versus a local Ryman side East Grinstead. Final score was 2-9 (to us). Many trialists played. I was quite impressed by one or two but who knows. One more for the good name category. Aryan Tajbakhsh. He played for Enfield Town last season. Now a Turkish name and a manager with history with Enfield (he played when they were the (or one of the) last teams not to gain automatic promotion from the conference for winning it) gives an idea why he got a trial but he did look a good midfielder.

Some of the others looked bloody awful but East Grinstead had a good striker. Quick, direct and a real handful against proven centre halfs. If I could remember his name I'd tell you it because we haven't got a reserve side and he could well be worth a punt. (Just found out. Stefan Cox)

Oh it seems we are in for James Collins from Salop. It's all over the twatisphere but it may be crap. Good league two striker though.

I had five minutes so I looked up who was trying out and they are..

Rylan Myers, Charlie Gregory, Fisayo Adarabioyo, Billy Clifford, Andre Blackman, Addison Garnett, Aryan Tajbakhsh, Diego Hoffman.

Some I know, some I don't.

Ha so thats where Andre Blackman has turned up. I really don't know why people keep taking him on. Decent player with problems.
As for Collins we had talks with him last week and were expected to sign him. Don't know what went wrong but im hardly disappointed.

Unimpressive signing, and I suspect if we can afford him he can't have got many offers, but I suppose if you're going to play aimless hoofball may as well have someone who can hold it up.
He was priceless at Rovers -- Only been on the pitch for about 10 mins and sent off. Best laugh I've had at football for many a year.

Good signing, I was hoping we would sign him as I rate him better than Hartley!! Swop?

No thanks! Surely Hartley isn't going to start for you is he? He's one of the players I would have looked at replacing for us from last year if we want to progress.

Maybe; we have Tom Lockyer who is destined for better things, then we have James Clarke and Mark McCrystal who also play CB.
I was pretty underwhelmed at the Hartley signing if i'm honest, but they you cant really knock a manager who has got us two successive promotions.
Bradley was one of the players I mentioned on our forum last month as a possible target, you lot have done well there imo!

He's the 4th out and out centre back we've signed so he could well be. Looks like we are shaping up for 3 centre backs and playing wing backs instead.

One man doesn't make a team - that's where all the budget has gone.
Was meant to be signing for us but a three year deal has swayed the decision. We only offer one plus an option on the second. Financially they must be paying him 3 grand a week ish.

James Collins to us is a bit of an eye opener. I didn't think we had the cash to do that sort of deal although there is no fee involved. Definitely a good league 2 striker but we do have a history of turning them into garbage. It will be interesting to see how Drummy sets us up. Can Collins and Harrold play in the same team?

Bradley to Argyle is a bit it strange. He left us saying he had offers from the championship and league 1. He is a good stopper but I'm not convinced by him. Maybe familiarity bred some contempt.

Whatever you do, keep him away from a left back position... until you play us.

Billy Clifford is a weird one. Saw him a few times for Boreham Wood last season and he was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch and looked a legitimate game changer, ripped Forest Green a new one (and then got sent off). Then he seemed to fall down the pecking order as Boreham Wood took a very defensive approach.

Billy Clifford was such a weird player for us. Signed on a 6 month deal after doing really well on trial but then just kept slipping further and further out of favour until he was released in January.

Yep I was at that match and completely agree that Clifford was the best player on the pitch and tearing us to shreds, before his 2nd yellow. I too expected him to go on and be a standout in the league last season, but as you say, he seemed to fall away. Ex-Chelsea isn't he. I've heard there may be a few attitude issues.

Purely for sentimental reasons I'm delighted that the world has righted a terrible injustice and finally made Jonno Forte a Notts player. As said, no idea what his fitness is like or if he's deteriorated a bit physically but Sheridan will be aware of that having had him at Oldham last season (I'd probably be against this signing if not for that).

Also easy to overlook the fact that he bizarrely turns into Pele whenever he pulls on a Notts shirt. That first half hat-trick away at Charlton with Judgey pulling the strings is still possibly the most optimistic I've ever been about a Notts side - alas it all came crashing down and Curle signed Enoch Showunmi in the summer.

Are we really signing NKP? I'm out of the loop on Twitter now but I had a search at lunch and he was talking to Southend then.
Forte certainly doesn't have that pace anymore. He's not a slug, obviously, but the injuries he suffered with us part way through last season seemingly took their toll. I think a combination of injuries and, perhaps, lack of interest contributed to his shite performances at the back end of last season, so despite all the good things he did for us the season before, the overwhelming consensus amongst us fans is that we're not too bothered he's gone.

He's still capable of moments of brilliance, but they are few and far between. All that being said, as long as he is interested and he can stay fit for a decent amount of time, he may well get you 15 goals next season in L2.

We have signed Aryan Tajbakhsh on a years deal.

He was at Enfield Town last season. He played 45 minutes on Saturday and looked OK but that was only against Ryman level opponents.

He is a midfielder who plays on the right. He looked pacey and strong. Pretty sure he will be a back up player but I'm sure if he works hard he will get a chance.

Don't expect him to be a target man even though he is tall and looks strong. If you play the ball behind the backline for him to run on to he is dangerous (watch the goal he scored for us away to Pompey). Had a good strike rate but in general play was hot and cold, one game brilliant, the next anonymous.

Not surprised he was released but if you use him in the right way then you have a very good L2 player.

Jordan Bowery has signed from Oxford. Am I right to be underwhelmed?

Riccardo Calder signed on six month loan from Villa, had him last season not the worst but very raw.
