Craig Tanner signs on loan til January from Reading. Great news! One of my favourite players in green last year.

Tanner is a Janner.

We've loaned Jake Gosling to Cambridge for 6 months. Not getting a look in for us so could well be turned into a permanent. Good solid winger/ attacking midfielder for league 2. Obviously our boards have made up :bg1:

Must admit I was surprised we've done business with you again, not the greatest track record...

This is to make up for the Gaffney saga. We would have to let you have our whole team/ground & backroom staff to make amends for the Devon White one though.

Heard a whisper today that we are interested in Graham Carey. Probably bullshit as I would think he'd cost more than we could afford, but the source has been very trustworthy in the past so might be something in it even though it sounds far-fetched. He'd certainly tick a lot of boxes for us, left-footed for a start.

Quite clearly the £5m price tag is us saying that he's not available. There's 2 years left on Green's contract, we aren't financially strapped and he's quite possibly the highest paid player in our history. Unless someone wants to offer something silly, or the player 'downs tools' I can't see him going anywhere.

I'd say that the least he is worth is £500k considering that it would probably end any lofty ambitions for the season pretty quickly.

I expect Mansfield would accept £500k not that anyone would pay it for a 29 year old 4th division striker.

Agreed.

Green did really well last season considering he missed two years beforehand and I hope for around 20 this time round in the league.

it's one of those situation where he's worth so much more to us than anybody will be willing to offer (I hope) No doubt clubs are interested in him though.

We've signed Danny Hollands on a 5 month contract. Good signing, but the contract length is bizarre. Is it fitness related? Is it a case of him using us to polish himself up before bolting come January? Is him staying dependant on us being in the play off hunt?

I think its a case of playing safe, he lives with all his family not far from Chichester so he doesn't particually want to move long term.

good signing if you catch him on any kind of form. normally has a good honeymoon period after each move as well.

Blackpool have signed Armand Gnanduillet pretty much out of the blue, although he was undoubtedly out of favour at Brisbane Road.

I think there's a good player in there somewhere, especially at this level, but he was largely average for us, and his attitude remains questionable.

Not a bad goals / games ratio, but when given subsequent starts in the first XI he failed to impress.

Could turn it on and bang in 20 a season for the Tangerines, but I doubt it.

6/10 signing.

I think he's shit. On par with Palmer. Goal scoring is literally the only thing in his game. Doesn't link up, poor technically, doesn't hold it up particularly well, off the ball he isn't great and his decision making... A game last season when Simpson made a run through and Gnanduillet shot from 30 odd yards is the worst decision making I've seen in ages.

I think he's closer to a 3/10 signing. Would have him on the same level as Ollie Palmer, blatantly not good enough.

Gnanduillet never did enough in his seven months here to endear himself to our fans. He has a bit of technical ability, but his work off the ball, workrate in general and decision making simply wasn't good enough.

That game at home to Dagenham last season which we won 3-2, was the game where he wouldn't play Simpson through for a one on one, I nearly ran onto the pitch myself to tell him how much of a twat he was for not passing when he clearly should've done.

That game summed him up, he was booed by our fans for basically being lazy, he then scores (a good finish mind), cups his ear to the crowd whilst mouthing "fuck you" and got subbed off straight away despite scoring.

He'll get a goal or two for Blackpool, but he will not be missed here.

We've signed Koby Arthur (Birmingham) and Jonny Smith (Bristol City) on loan until January.

I know nothing of Smith, but Koby was at the club at the start of our relegation season. With him in the team we went top of the league. He was recalled by Birmingham and we dropped like a stone. Good to have him back.

I haven't heard of him, but judging from your previous I'm assuming there is something in it! Loan or permanent?

Dunno. Randomly someone posted this on the Orient messageboard. He doesn't seem to be the golden child right now. It is probably a load of crap, was just wondering if there was anything you've heard.

Just been confirmed that "Manager Adam Murray has revealed that the Stags have rejected a bid 'from a club in a higher league' for striker Matt Green." No idea what the offer was or who from. Think Bradford were showing interest?

I reckon Southend might have been sniffing around, The Jay Simpson deal fell off the wheels so they're looking for a striker.

Teams will probably turn their attention to a more prolific goalscorer like Jon Stead.

From what I've heard at our game today, it will be a 6 month loan. Not sure when it will be confirmed or the true reasoning behind it, but I have a few explanations:

We need to offload players it seems to keep Simpson and maybe bring in another centre back, we've also changed our formation to 4-2-3-1, as opposed to 4-4-2 so we don't need 4 out and out strikers for that position. If McCallum goes we will be left with Simpson, Palmer and Bowery which will be enough and if need be Gavin Massey and sort of play there as you may well know (Emergencies only!). We've also offloaded Armand Gnanduillet pernamently (Thank god) and Sammy Moore out on loan this week.

McCallum is coming back from an ACL injury he suffered just under a year ago, so the jury is still very much out on him having only played up and until September last year. Dean Cox suffered the same injury but has shown alot more progress to get back into the team.

McCallum for me is a poacher, he scored two goals against Fulham in the cup last week and both were headers in and around the 6 yard box - The three goals he scored last season for us - all in the six yard box. He is very much a predator when it comes to chances.

His link up play is ok, but he isn't a hard worker - a few of his team mates give him stick for that but also say he is deadly in the box. Don't expect him to chase lost causes. For me, he is still some way short of match fitness so the owners I think want him out and playing games - But a few question marks have been raised in the last 3 weeks about his attitude, he's apparently fallen out with Hessenthaler and a few of the backroom team.

This transfer has legs, but whether or not it happens remains to be seen!

I'm not sure we need a poacher really. We only ever play with one up front so a poacher who doesn't work that hard will never really fit into that. Macauley Bonne could easily be that poacher but, again, because he isn't a lone target man when he does play he always gets shoved out wide.

Sounds like an odd one with that in mind!

P.S - when we first signed Massey he arrived as a striker as opposed to a winger, so it would be interesting to see how he would actually do if he was moved centrally.

McCallum is tall, strong and good in the air. I feel like that's Porter and Johnstone however?

Combining this post and the one above, he sounds like a lazier version of them both, yeah. Perhaps a bit more clinical if given the chance?

If we need to sign anyone, it's a winger to provide some backup to Wright and Dickenson to be honest.

Sounds a fair assessment to me.

Can't say I'm excited by Matt Green so probably for the best that Mansfield have put a silly price tag on him.
