So where have Mansfield suddenly got £400,000 to spend on a player? That equates to £8,000 a week on wages!

Akinde would want a min of £3,000 a week too probably. A huge financial commitment.

Probs not true, and you know where we get it from if it was true.

Peter O'Rourke has reckons us and Coventry are fighting it out over James Collins. He's generally been right everytime he has posted about us (Barnsleys bid for McGeehan and Ryan Hall signing comes to mind) so it may have legs.

Fantastic if true and it comes off. Exactly the sort of player we need. Collins, Hylton, Marriott and Vassell would be insane at this level.

Some Twitter rumour site that's probably bollocks has linked us with a season long loan for Bristol City's Taylor Moore. He looks too good for us really as he's got numerous England caps up to u 20 level and has also played in the French top flight with Lens.

He was loaned out to Bury last season so no impossible but still unlikely I'd say.

I'd imagine we'd be looking to loan him out to a League One side rather than a League Two side, but we'll see.

Apparently we're leading the race to sign Billy Waters from Cheltenham. Know nothing about him except he scored a few and he's young.

You, Plymouth, FGR and Lincoln apparently.

Whoever it is will have to pay a fee, but it appears quite nailed on that he's off.

Doubt it will be us, Adams is allergic to paying fees, having paid only one (£15k) in his career. Plus, I don't know him is he really a league one player?

Seems as if we've lost out in the battle to sign James Collins who seems to be joining Coventry City.

I thought they were having financial problems? Because there was talk of a £200,000 bid from us.

Not really. Put it this way, whilst most Cheltenham fans will be sad to see him go, no one will be gutted as such.

Was there talk of a £200,000 bid from us? First I've heard of it...

Collins is a Coventry lad I believe so they probably wouldn't have to outbid us to be his preferred option at any rate.

Well if Crawley accept a bid from us and not from Coventry, he does have to make a decision.

As you say he's got that emotional attachment, but would any professional footballer want to join Coventry in their current predicament? They haven't got a stadium after this season as it stands.

Why do you think he cares about that? It's a short career being a footballer, Especially in the lower leagues he's going to go to whoever offers him the most.

I imagine Coventry can afford to offer him a decent wage, They beat us to Marc Mcnulty too.

Someone who seems to be ITK on twitter says we have had a bid of 250k accepted for Collins. He's been pretty reliable in the past, calling Paddy McCourt, Danny Green and McCormack.

Collins and Mcnulty or Collins and Hylton would be some front two in this league!

On the flip side, the most reliable ITK Luton fan around said Collins was Coventry bound yesterday... That guy on twitter always struck me as a bit of a chancer, just guessing based on rumours. Might be doing him a disservice but I remember him getting a few completely wrong so I don't think he is as "clued in" as West Side Vinny on Outlaws. I'd be inclined to believe WSV re: Collins unfortunately, although obviously I hope he's wrong as he'd be an ideal signing.

Money talks and all that so 250k for James Collins would be hard for a club of the size of Crawley to turn down.....But.....

He did only join us because we offered him the security of a three year deal and decent wages. I suppose whoever signs him from us will have to give, at least, a two year deal with bloody good wages.

The joy of supporting a small, tin pot club. Every time we get a good player; he leaves. I'm not complaining. Just resigned.

Two 6 figure bids for Collins rejected, presumably from us and Luton. Would be a great signing for us if we can pull it off, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Luton.

Would be a really, really good signing no doubt but do we really need him enough to splash 250k plus? Could we not spend that money on buying some decent midfielders?

I'd love to do both but if we went into the season with a starting front 2 of Hylton/Vassell with Marriott and perhaps another cheaper striker as back ups I wouldn't exactly be upset.

I don't see our forward line as the problem area either. Hylton is the best striker in the league and Vassell is a work in progress who will have even more of an impact next season. Marriot is my only question mark but we all know what he can do on his day, although I'm sure he'd be the first to admit he had a disappointing season. We've been lacking stability and creativity in midfield. NJ doesn't seem to know what his best system is or indeed where to play certain players. Pelly being a classic example. Another midfielder and a GK (Walton please but can't see it happening) is a bigger priority.
I'm a bit puzzled by our bid for Collins unless we have received a ridiculously high bid for Hylton which we can't turn down. Hope not!

We've signed Dimitar Mitov from Charlton.

Likely to be backup up to Will Norris but has good pedigree to push him for the no.1 spot.

Crawley sign Moussa Sanoh. No, me neither. 2 year contract with an option for another year.

21 year old right winger from RKC Waalwijk. No, me neither but apparently a Jupiler League (Dutch second tier) side. Wiki suggests he was a youngster at PSV and the YouTube scouting shows he is pretty good (as always).

Think this could be one of those signings that may rumble onto deadline day.

Could end up like the Matt Green on/off transfer saga last summer
