Been linked with Chris O'Grady today.

Expect David Brooks signing from Sheff U once he is back from Toulon with England. Cracking signing for us

We beat quite a few league 2 clubs to the signing of Chris Porter including local rivals Port Vale.

All gone a bit quite in terms of more signings Wes Brown, Adam Dugdale (as much as I like him as a person, please no) and Jamie Ness the last to be linked.

Crawley have issued the obligatory hands off warning in regard to James Collins.

"He is on a two year contract and an integral part of our plans".

Or "Pay more if you want him".

Over 3 hours and not one Barnet fan gone mental that someone dare suggest someone is better than Akinde!!

Come on lads I've had the popcorn out here waiting for the show.

When have any of us said that? All I've seen is us make the point that most rumoured bids for him are for nowhere near enough.

Rumoured... cant see us actually going for him as we signed Pope instead (had we tried to match a 2 year plus 1 year option on a 33 year old we'd have been nuts!)

Defender Callum Howe signs a new one year deal.

He seems a half decent defender, but he's been with us a couple of years and not really played that much. Will probably prove a half capable back-up, but certainly won't be an upgrade or equal to Raggett when he leaves.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up on loan at a Conference Club in the second half of next season.

COG would be a cut above this level if you can pull it off

Raggett's off to the Prem isn't he?

Sounds like he's holding out for a PL move, yeah - West Ham and WBA the names there. Norwich were the first Championship Club to show their hand, but apparently a few more in that league are sniffing and that's on top of Posh and Oxford in L1.

We could really do with him coming back for a year if possible otherwise that'd end up being half of our back line from last year going (assuming Wood doesn't return).

O'Grady would be one of the signings of the summer in League Two, considering your financial issues your squad is looking pretty good for this level.

Get ALF and Dagnall in as well and it's Rochdale circa '09/'10!

Seems we've failed to land Sam Hughes from Chester. Hardly surprising seen as he's been watched by Championship Clubs all season!

No you didn't. There would be no sense signing him with Pope in the team already.

We possibly enquired before Pope but can't see us going for him after signing Pope (a much better player) and we wouldn't have matched Crewes contract length regardless at his age, we have Forrester who's a physical back up to Pope on the rare occasions he isn't injured.

We need a pacey hitman to play off Pope so hopefully Tyler Walker comes off.

On the rumour mill apparently Ross Turnbull is the next name linked. Would be decent...

We are rumoured to be about to sign Nathan Clarke. Thoughts Cov fans? Obviously played under Slade before.

I wouldn't say that quite yet, we have huge gaps, especially in midfield.

There seems to be some serious paranoia on One Vale fan regarding an interview in a Crewe paper with Chris Porter where it was stated that he turned Vale down for us. Now this could be for various reasons, such as we offered a longer contract, or maybe just maybe we offered the lad more money than Vale, but this little nugget surfaced,

"Agreed. Obviously annoyed we took nearly all their best players off them in the last ten years. If we actually wanted him, we would have signed him , look at Grant, they couldn't afford him we could."

Who did they take of us, we offered Grant a one year deal because in Bakers words he was 'not value for money', Byron Moore was out of contract and all the others they signed (when they had this habit of signing lads who had played for us) had all played fro somebody else after they had left us

Guess it could have just been down to us offering Chris Porter a longer deal. I see it has caused a mini meltdown on OVF, with claims that if you wanted him you would have got him over us, and the best one I saw was a claim that we are just jealous as you have signed all best players in the last 10 years, now not sure if I have been in a coma during the last 10 years but the only players that have gone direct from us to yourselves is Grant and Moore, and they left because we only offered them 1 year extensions as opposed to the 2 year deals Vale offered, any other players (O'Connor, Leitch-Smith, Pope etc) have all gone to you via different teams.

Mark Gillespie has decided to move on to a new challenge.

He's a very good keeper usually, but far too many times last season he has dropped some absolute shockers.

Best decision for both parties I'd say, but after releasing Max Crocombe, we now have no goalkeepers.

Imagine he'll join a League 1 or 2 club, made a few big mistakes last season but also produces some great saves.

A tiny bit worrying that we've lost 3 players we wanted to keep, but it's still early.

Hoping to see Vale linked with A.Trialist from Scotland, seems to score most weeks and wouldn't break the bank.

Hadn't even offered him a contract yet. Surprised he's joined Newport though, as he only didn't come to us as he doesn't want to play non-league. Surely he could've got a safer team than Newport?

We offered him a new contract but he obviously didn't like the look of it. I'm not surprised, it will have been rubbish.

There's only Tom James left to decide whether he wants to sign again with us. We've got 8 players - 2 goalies, 3 defenders, 1 midfielder, 2 strikers - and our first friendly is in less than 5 weeks. Bit of work to do.
