Shite.

Quite funny actually, I really thought Lincoln would be pulling off better quality signings than that considering the money made last year.

The odd thing on the Palmer to Lincoln bit for me is he doesn't seem a Cowley type of player.

He will run all day but very rarely in the right direction. He is a big lad but never uses it effectively is very one paced and his finishing leaves a lot to be desired (Orient fans can share the clips)

None of that is the reason I say he isn't a Cowley type is that no one has a higher opinion of Ollie than he does himself his dad used to be a royal protection officer and think the family have got a few quid and he is just right up himself.

There is an instagram pic of him with Taffazoli this close season and its a belter he looks every inch a league 2 footballer in his pink top, white jeans and yellow shades :2thumb:

Well according to DC yesterday we are after up to 12 new faces, one keeper, three defenders, one or two midfielders, three wide men and three forwards.

We do have a very healthy bank balance from last season which has been increased by fantastic ST sales. Danny keeps on saying about getting value for money and never paying over the odds for players, so we won't be throwing silly money at anyone unless deemed worthy. He recruited very well last season, probably only one signing not working out and he was soon shipped out.

Still expecting Raggett to leave which will leave a hole, offset by a fee in the hundreds of thousand pounds area.

I know we're in the same shit boat now, but it depresses the hell out of me that virtually all the players discussed here I have never, ever heard of.

Hits home how far we've fallen

Ollie Palmer was definitely not as bad as the Mansfield and Orient fans told us.

Sure he isn't fantastic, for a big man I actually thought he was actually better with the ball at his feet than winning headers, and I wouldnt want him to be a starting option but he was reasonably effective as a change of pace option, works hard and scored a couple of goals just through force of will.

As long as you're not expecting him to be leading the line as a first choice striker he is alright.

Haven't you always been a bottom 2 tier club bar the 90s and first few years of the 00's?
Yeah, but I meant the context of being 90 minutes from the Championship a couple of years ago to rubbing shoulders again with all the L2 dead men

I was very surprised when you signed him. He'd be good if he could run, shoot, cross or pass - unfortunately, he can't.

Not a player you'd be after if you were pushing for the playoffs or more to be leading the line, but as you mentioned, a "meh" signing as a back up.

I thought Mansfield had already signed a world class keeper?

Bobby O to mansfield.

Bit surprising that. Tbh he is a better keeper than Pym in my opinion. Bob is alright, not a world beater but a solid mid-table league 2 option.

Bobby Olejink. What's he like Exeter fans?
He's okay. Nothing special. Kicking is pretty poor and doesn't dominate his box but he is okay for mid table League 2. Surprised Mansfield have gone for him with their ambitions.

I think Pym is the better keeper myself plus Bobby was a high earner so definitely no surprise he was released.

60 odd appearances in the last 2 seasons, is that how you see/saw yourselves?

The Olejnik signing is for marketing purposes more so than anything else.

Mansfield Town's global brand operations team have been wanting tap into the Austrian fan base for a while now. Olejnik will play a part as Austrian ambassador as well as goalkeeper, making frequent visits to parts of Austria to increase relationships between the club and their ever growing Austrian fan base, opening club mega stores, launching soccer schools etc.

Don't be surprised to see more signings of this type over the next few months.

It's what we were. He played pretty much every game in the 2015/16 season and we finished 14th. He started last season as our number 1 and we lost 11 of our first 17 matches. Not suggesting it was all down to him by any stretch but Pym came into the side and we began to fly up the table.

So it looks like Mansfield are finally running out of cash and can now only sign average L2 players.

Every good team has a good goalkeeper, not an average one!

So much for you pissing the league.

Imagine he will be coming in as #2 then. Can't see Logan being here to sit on the bench unless he has a mare and his peformances warrent it. Sounds decent enough if he's here as back up to Conrad Logan anyway. Probably one more to come in now.

Not that Evans is known for his bullshit, but:

"I ran a final analysis on Bobby when I watched him against Carlisle United and Blackpool in the recent League Two play-offs and it has to be said that he was excellent."

Olejink didn't even play against Blackpool did he, so is he sure he's got the right 'keeper?

"I watched him for Exeter against Carlisle in the play-offs and he was excellent.

"I went to watch him at Wembley and like most, I was surprised that he wasn't in the starting team but I watched every minute of his warm-up and despite his obvious disappointment he was meticulous in everything he did. He has demonstrated by action that he is a top professional."

The Stags' gaffer added: "Let the battle commence and the best man every single week will play."
