Dan Jones to Notts rumours gathering pace? He wasn't all that good when we were supposedly going to spend £750k on him during the Munto era following a loan spell, what's he like now, Chessie fans?

Athletic, quick, good left foot. Usually defensively sound, but can be caught out of position. Injury prone to shit, but a fine L2 left back if you can get him fit and playing 40 games a season.

If the Shinnie thing is true it may mean Elliot Lee is too, the same guy who first suggested that Lee was signing again yesterday said we'd also sign a midfielder from Brum. Intriguing.

Didn't he predict 4 signings including Collins? Was 1 a keeper.

Interesting to note WSV was wrong regarding Collins. Although the situation did change when Collins asked for the bid to be accepted I suppose.

Yeah you're right, 4 including Collins. His clues were:

"1. A player from Crawley Town, no big surprise there !
2. A player from Birmingham City
3. A player that has been here before....with a family connection.
4. AN Other that I can't remember as I was a bit pissed when I was told."

It was another poster who suggested the fourth was a keeper.

Yeah, first time I can recall him being wrong. Although to be fair he did say words to the effect of "unless something changes he won't be coming here" so maybe it was a case of Crawley digging their heels in over price until Collins asked to leave.

If its all true then do we reckon we are leaving our current "box to box" midfielders as is then?

Not keen on that at all.

Hard to say. Those four being the ones that are basically done wouldn't necessarily mean we weren't in the market for one more. Jones said he wanted 6 in at the start of the summer but then we sold McGeehan and Marriott so signing 8 would make sense, which would mean another one on top of those alluded to in that post.

Still lots of unknowns though so it's hard to call. If we favour 3-5-2 then he might be considering one of the yoof centre backs to complete the squad rather than another new midfielder. Knowing Jones and his love for midget #10 types he probably wouldn't think anything of playing a midfield of Gambin - Shinnie - Cook :ffs:

We've made our first signing in the shape of right back Ryan Jackson from Gillingham, confirming that Richard Brindley has turned down a new deal and will be leaving. If he turns out to be half as good as our last signing from Gillingham then I'm pleased with that.

In Grimsby it's 'spotted in the pound shop'.

Everyone on here whose team sold their only goalscorer for a measly 250k would be pissed off as well but everything is ok now as we have signed Mark Randall.

I'm presuming this is one of the "Stella" singings we were promised in which case I can hardly catch my breath waiting for the others.

To be fair to Randall he has always looked ok when I've seennhim.

That was us in January when we sold Charlie Wyke for 250k, most fans were very annoyed but that was his buy-out clause.

Good vision, and if given time in the ball can pick some lovely balls for runners. Bit powder puff for football at this level though and unless he's got the ball on his foot stroking it around, the game passes him by. Not very dynamic

We've agreed to sign Doncaster's COO, as our CEO, on a free on August 7th.

Good signing. Not the most commanding keeper in the world, but a pretty good shot stopper, decent distribution and he's 6ft2+. Don't remember 1 obvious mistake he made in his time with us, and for a team who finished second bottom that's pretty impressive for a keeper. Think he is only 19/20, so plenty of time for improvement.

Sounds like he'll be decent competition for Day then, which is pleasing. Hopefully he won't be too expensive either, will allow us to use Jones' wages elsewhere.

Andrew Shinnie confirmed on a season long loan. Sounds like he has plenty of ability, hopefully no recall clause this time!

Cedric Evina is our second "Stella" signing. This time a year long loan from Doncaster.

Not sure about this signing. If we had got him from Oldham or Charlton where he played a lot I would be over the moon but from Donny where he seems to have played one game last season I'm concerned.

Chris Arthur and Andre Blackman arenour current left backs.

Shinnie looks a great signing, goes someway to replacing McGeehan. More importantly, should play ahead of Jordan Cook.

Just need a backup keeper and 4th striker. If they turn out to be James Shea and Eliot Lee as rumoured it will have been a thoroughly excellent set of transfers.

Only qualm is perhaps there aren't a huge amount of goals in the midfield and I'd be tempted to get another Box to box CM in there. Luckily our forwards have ALL the goals. I'd also like another CB but it won't happen.

Personally think we need another CM still for sure, if we don't get one in it implies that we wouldn't have been in the market for one if McGeehan had stayed which seems crazy to me when you think about a) the number of minutes that Smith and Gray got last season, both now gone/going, and b) how many minutes players not of the required quality like Lee and Cook got last season... Surely we'd have been in the market for another even if no-one had come in for Cam?

I suppose the alternative might be that McCormack is going to play in one of the middle roles of the diamond, I've been assuming he'll play the holding role but if he's a ball-winner/chaser ala Smudger (albeit a much better quality one) then perhaps not? Jones never played Smudge at the base of the diamond. Then you'd have Rea as first choice anchor man with McCormack and Pelly or D'Ath in the box-to-box roles, with Shinnie as the #10. That would leave us with a choice of 4 midfielders from 8, i.e. two for each position, with Lee as back-up for the holding role and Gambin/Cook/whoever misses out between Pelly and D'Ath. But it would probably mean getting in another central defender unless we really want to push on Famewo and/or Musonda?

Honestly who the fuck knows, with Jones we'll probably just play a keeper and then ten midget #10s.

That article is hilarious. Great bit of impartial journalism.

My favourite part was "the Reds long suffering fans".

Is this the Reds fans who have spent the last few years in the Football League after forever swimming in non-league backwaters?
Other perennial non-league clubs must be pointing and laughing at such misfortune.

Mansfield Town B are after Krystian Pearce accoring to a couple of people on our forum,

There is no basis for this story whatsoever. Evans made a joke about Lincoln fielding an Ex-Stags XI and as always the Stagsnet headless chickens ran around the pen looking for made up feed.

Why on earth would we offload Pearce?
He's just had his contract renewed after an exceptional season.

We already have 3 CB's, but as you say, it was a jokey comment he made and people seem to have taken it literally.
