We could do with a centre half, ideally tall and good in the end. If we get one, Johnny Mullins will likely be made available for transfer as he if probably at the back of the queue of senior CBs.
With Berry signing it makes our midfield options McCormack, Lee, Pelly, Shinnie, Berry, Gambin, D'Ath, Cook and young Tyreeq Bakinson so we may lose one there. You'd think it'd be Jordan Cook or Luke Gambin.
Still looking for a home for Josh McQuoid who has been transfer listed all summer. Might end up going out on loan.

Hatter86 is D'Ath of the attacking mould? I know we were in for him when you signed him and Evans is after an att midfielder still.

I'd say he's more box to box. Has great energy and will chase and chase all day. Was doing really well at the end of last season and then picked up an injury the last training session before the start of the season. Should be back soon and I can't see him leaving. Cook is probably behind Shinnie and Berry now at the top of the diamond and Gambin is a winger which we do not use.

Nothing wrong with Luton spending within in their means, which they are with the income they've generated. They've recruited astutely as well from what I've seen so far. Easily had the best transfer window of all 24 clubs in this division.

Still find it hilarious one of their fans thought they'd get £2-£3 million for a fourth tier full back though.
Haven't we already turned down the lower end of that range?

Rejected a 1.8m bid for Justin from Forest. Speculation being thqt the price slapped on him was 2.5m-3m. Is he worth that now? Nope. But we dont need to sell which is why we are getting inflated prices from anyone buying - their needs are greater than ours.

As for 'buying the league' we've done it self sufficiently. Unlike Evans and his 'brown paper packet' in the conference.

Transfer finances in (based on common rumour, but the figures are definately in the range).

Vassell out 1.75m plus further add ons
McGeehan out 850k (paid Norwich ~120k for sell on) plus further add ons
Marriott out 450k plus further add ons
Andre Gray final sell on 300k (Burnley staying up)
Jake Gray out (Yeovil ~30k)

Finances out

Collins 250k
Berry 300k
Stacey 75k
Cornick 50k

And our wage bill pre-Berry had gone down from last year. Chance we may spend another 250k on Sonny Bradley as rumoured but still well in the black this summer and looking stronger.

What was your profit/loss last year?
These figures you quote mean bugger all to me because I have no idea how they fit into the finances of the club.

If you are making a huge loss then you are buying the league, if you are break even then clearly you are not. The rest is just fluff.

Oi................ Nobody buys the League until April or May. It may come cheap to a well run well managed club or expensive to a moneybags owner. Either way you don't win shit in August

I'm still unsure... Are Luton buying the league or not? Please explain more clearly.

Not just the league but the cup competitions too!!
Just getting through the various rounds further than we would have done will pay for the signing on fees we have outlayed......
Speculate to accumulate......

Is Akinde likely to end up at Blackburn or wherever he's been linked too then Barnet fans? Notice he's still not played a game yet this season, or is he actually injured?

100% injured. Could leave of course but he's not played due to an annoying hammy/knee injury.

Teams who end up at the top end of the table tend to have the higher player budgets. Teams who end up at the bottom tend to have the lower player budgets. It's not a 100% rule but not far from it.

Sustainability etc only affects how long you can keep investing money in this way.

Luton have lost money every season since they sold the ground. The investors have already spent £20m in share capital and committed to already spending double on land for the new stadium. I used to work for a company like that relied on massive investment and still does. Many companies are the same, not just football.

Strong talk that Wheeler is on his way to QPR. Jayden Stockley set to sign for us from Aberdeen.

Stockley could be a fantastic signing for this level and he did really well for us on loan a couple of seasons ago but Wheeler will be missed. He is the focal point of the team and how we play and he's a great person but you can't begrudge him this move and he's out of contract in the Summer and would probably walk away for nothing. Rumoured fee for him is £500k.

Also wouldn't surprise me if we went in for a centre mid on loan. So could be a busy few days for us.

We've signed Jamille Matt from Blackpool for the rest of the season. I mean he's not the lump we need but it could be a good signing, I rate him over Hooper and Cardwell anyway.

Best of luck to him, still a legend around here. Use his height to your advantage and you've got a great player. May not get 20 goals and the majority of his came from his head for us. But he will hold up the ball and bring the rest of the team into play.

Really pleased with that signing, 45 goals from 100 starts (169 games in total). He's surely got to be better than Hooper.

Sounds exactly like what we need then with us now playing hoof ball. I'm confident he can be a success here, until it's his turn to get sent off.

Stockley is not good enough for L2

Matt is good at this level.

Stockley is also very good at this level. He got a goal every other game when he was with us last time and he's a big strong unit as well.

We need some movement. Actually we're desperate for it.

We look set to sign Janoi/Jaanai (seen it spelt both ways) Gordon from West Ham.

Thoughts Newport fans?

There is also a niggling rumour that we'll be signing Dillon Phillips from Charlton. I'll believe that when I see it.

Robinson has come out and said a few times he wants to bring a keeper in so he can send Phillips out on loan for a full season.

Article last week was that we're no closer to bringing one in and if that's the case, Phillips will be going nowhere.

Twitter rumours are that we're signing Josh Wright tomorrow. Wouldn't be displeased with that

I saw that - looks like we've changed our attentions to Scott Flinders.

I don't know what to think about this - can't argue with his experience, but he was released by Macclesfield last season.

Crewe have signed 18 year old Wigan CB Sam Stubbs on loan until January. Only made 1 sub appearance for them in the League Cup a few weeks ago, but we needed another defender as we've been short there all season.

I'll believe that when I see it, linked with about 10 clubs.

We appear to be linked with several midfielders at the moment.

Jamille Matt? A player who I have heard of and once rated highly? That can't be right! Pleased with that. I am surprised he hasn't done as well as I thought he would after leaving Kiddy, though. He was an absolute menace in the Conference. Should be a solid signing and takes some of the pressure off Jones and Dembele to perform, which is a good thing. Now let's get a new CM in and one of our rubbish ones shipped out.
