Some quietly good recruitment going on at Vale.

It wouldn't surprise me if Lincoln were after Adam Collin, but he's also been linked with a move back to his beloved Carlisle

Sounds like the O' Connor rumours still making the rounds. We definitely need a decent midfielder now Woodyard has left.

He is the only one now who hasn't signed a new deal. The longer it goes on the more likely it is he will leave, I guess.

Wow Beckford in L2, didn’t think that would happen. I've always been very impressed by him, whenever I saw him play especially for Leeds

Just depends if the legs will still do it and the injuries have taken their toll? He should be tearing it up though. We all thought CMS would do that though and he never really set the world alight when he dropped back down

Port Vale should improve. Some decent recruitment so far, especially going forward. Pope and Morais is a very good partnership at this level

If confirmed it will be very decent... at the moment we are going off him tweeting though and McAnthony confirming we had bid for their player. Hopeful though, Aspin is on holiday this week so no one has been unveiled although the chairman confirmed one had been done.

Will be chuffed if we can get Morais and Waters. Feel like we are going to be going for a decent mix of older pros and younger players that have either come from the non league or still play there. Quite happy so far and I’ve restored faith in Aspin to get the best out of a much better squad than we had last season.

O’Connor is good but a massive risk for wherever he signs (Notts or elsewhere) because of his big wages on the back of a career threatening injury. I hope that he stays but wouldn’t be too devastated if he doesn’t.

See Armond is linked today too... surely wont have all three if he is true along with the non league striker we've had a bid accepted for?

We've worked at repairing the huge problems of last season:

Goalkeeper crisis - Signed Scott Brown
Lack of experience and commanding centre half - Signed Legge
Lack of legs in the midfield - Signed Joyce and Oyeleke

Putting some money at sorting the lack of goals.

Mixing them with some promising chancers from none league and Wales and the fact that the players who were decent last year are all under contract such as Wozza, Monty, Pope, Hannant and I am confident if we get this attacking side to us sorted with a couple of the linked players we will have a far far better season than last.

At last we are recruiting with a plan and proper scouting. We're addressing the positions in which we were weak last season and getting a good mix of experienced professionals and very promising non league players.

If we can get a couple of the strikers we have been linked with over the line then I can see us troubling the top half rather than the bottom half.

I think Morias/Waters can both be utilised as attacking midfielders/wingers or out and out forwards. I’m convinced Aspin is going to be playing 4-2-3-1 and the 3 in behind will all need to be relatively versatile which is why we are looking at players that can play wide or as a CAM. For me, Hannant/Worrall can play in any position of the 3 in that formation. We need to get a better supply to Pope next season, if we do, then I’m confident he will score 25+ goals because at this level he’s still decent and an absolute nuisance to play against.

A proper, experienced keeper and a big commanding centre back will also cut down on the number of stupid goals we conceded, too. That along with some energy in the middle has me looking forward to the season.

I am certainly positive the way things have gone and the fact we are actually bidding proper money for strikers!

Pope if fit is easily 25 goals at this level, last season he missed over a month injured, was in a side that created nothing, played with a hernia for 3 months where he couldn't even train and still got 19. The key for us is to get the service in, cure that we remedy the issues of the last year.

Excited for next week when Aspo is back to see what unfolds.

This bidding actual proper money and not tiger tokens for strikers is sooooo overrated. Big waste of cash imo, 20 goal a season forwards are 10 a penny. Better to look in the bargain bin, see what’s left over and try and dress it up as a possible good signing

We did that with the likes of Tyrone Barnett!

Not a good sign, had plenty of ‘talented but can’t be arsed’ types at Meadow Lane over the years especially up top.

Hoping Hemmings and Dennis are the opposite , all effort front men

We've signed left back Joseph Mills from Australian club Perth Glory. Ex-Oldham, amongst others.

Odd really. Izale McLeod and Barnett were very good at Crawley. We sold Barnett to Posh for a reputed 1 1/4 million.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but we signed George Francomb on a free. Was at Wimbledon last six seasons. Right back come utility midfielder. Wimbledon fans seem to rate him as good for league 2 but not quite up to league 1. I think it's agood signing for us.

Scored 8 in 12/13 games before getting a bad injury. Managed to miss two penalties too. He'd easily get 25+ goals but I doubt he can last a full season before his body gives way again. I hope I'm wrong for obvious reasons.

Supposedly also interested in Jordan Bowery from Crewe which isn't a surprise seeing as he scored twice against us when he and the rest of their team ran riot at SB in Feb.

Not heard anything like that from our end but even if it was true, you'd have to stump up serious cash to sign him from us given he's a key player. And I don't see any fourth tier clubs stumping up £500,000 to sign a player with one year left on his contract for a start.

JB is very happy to be at the club, and if he sustains his form at the club, I'm pretty sure we'll tie down a player who has had a rather nomadic career to a further two years at the club should he keep up his fine work.

It's probably just all the normal rumour rubbish then mate. We won't be paying much of a fee for most players, DC seems to prefer to get players in on a free but give decent wage and bonus structures.

That one also surfaced before he mentioned it, so there's probably something in it.

LB, which we need, released by Milwall, ex-Norwich.
