What's going on with Mirfin? We are meant to have made a bid for a 'game-changing' player, probably a winger as that is top of our shopping list, wonder if we are in for Khan too...

Had a long term injury but probably would be avaliable now I imagine, I think Pearce and Matt Preston will be the first choice though.

Is Khan a game changer? he’s not to me but I think it was Hardy that said it so that explains everything!

I think that meant a player who can 'change a name'... i.e. at this level I think that simply means can beat a man and create a chance/score a decent goal etc!

Hardy has no clue what he's on about lol - he's either little concept of football or drunk when he tweets, he's ace.

Basically look at what he says and do the opposite!

Regarding Khan, I think he's done well for Yeovil but then struggled at the end of last season - he is only 22

I get the feeling he is very highly rated to be fair.

Normally I would agree, and that used to be the case, but he has come up with the goods so far this summer to be fair, so we'll see.

I think Khan would be a good signing for either Notts L2 club, if his head is right - didn't he lose it a bit after getting sent off last season and missing the FA Cup game with Man Utd?

Yeah he got sent off against Chesterfield for seemingly accidently backing into a player/ref (cant remember) and sent some daft tweet out and asking the FA for forgiveness, was all a bit cringe.

There was no TV footage of it as well, right?

And he’s supporting the boys, in person, out in Russia. Not many league 2 chairmen can say that. Twitter accounts should be entertaining, factual or both. No complaints with Big Al’s

It sounds like Mansfield are taking this season seriously. I do wonder whether its worthwhile letting Flitcroft loose with the war chest or get someone who knows how to manage a team properly to do it.

Kanu was a handful for Aldershot in the conference, good little player. Vale looking like they'll be a different animal this season if they have Pope Miller and Kanu going forward, may well be worth a flutter.

As fans we expected a half decent close season due to the scouting ability Aspin and Rudge have but its been beyond most expectations so far as we have spent money (fair play to Smurf for once on that) and have addressed most of the key issues.

Despite our dour showing last year we did have some quality within the squad, the main issue being the unbalanced squad and the way it was put together.

Scott Brown - Solves the keeper problem

Leon Legge - Cures the issue of a young back line which isn't vocal (as does Brown)

Manny Olyeke and Luke Joyce - Cures the issue of playing the likes of Tonge and Pugh as a central midfield partnership so gives us some legs in the centre which was a massive issue.

Miller, Dodds and it seems Kanu is a better forward option for Pope than Tyrone Barnett or the rarely fit Anton Forrester

We just need some depth and a winger and full back cover really and we might do well. Our first XI looks strong, certainly far stronger than last season and much more balanced but we are a few positions short of cover.

I am hoping that by playing off Tom Pope we can get the best out of Miller which may be the key to having a season of consolidation or the potential to threaten the play offs.

Not heard anything about Khan down our end, with Way saying there was interest from clubs but "nothing in writing". But he has a release clause which Bristol Rovers met in January so I'm sure Mansfield can match it.

His sending off against Chesterfield was for pushing the ref, after not being given a foul shortly before Chesterfield scored the winner. Was given a 5 game suspension and missed the United game. He issued an apology in which he claimed he tripped and fell into the ref so should have his ban rescinded, http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=28102, but unsurprisingly there was no evidence and the ban stood. Afterwards his confidence was shot and didn't impact games much, but if he gets his head sorted he is an excellent player at this level.

Jason Oswell has tweeted he has left Stockport to pursue his dream of becoming a FL player... we have been heavily linked although our reporter yesterday suggested it had hit a stumbling block so be interesting to see if he does rock up at VP.

Proper Vale Veterans side are Macc Town! Used to be Mansfield!
Can't be bothered looking, who else is ex Vale?

I know Danny Whitaker is but he was with Macc long before he was Vale to start with.

Strong rumours that our next new signing will be Doncaster Rovers winger/striker Alex Kiwomya.

Someone on our forum suggesting it's between us and Morecambe. I imagine location could play a part, so Morecambe might well be favourites.

In recent years you've had loads... Kingsley James, Pilkington, McCombe, Boot
James, McCombe and Boot don't count - they were gash. Don't think Boot actually played.

Didn't realise Lowe was ex Vale, absokute rock for us last season, we need him signed up again.

Ryan Lloyd was doing very well until an Achilles injury around Feb time, ridiculously hard worker and decent footballer to boot. Will be like a new signing him getting fit for next season.

Possibly as we had allegedly pulled out (assuming with the Miller and Kanu deal's tied up).

We are to make a double signing announcement at 9:30AM tomorrow (one will be Kanu I imagine)

Our donkey centre forward Luke Norris who is a wizard from the spot is signing for Colchester according to BBC Wiltshire radio.

Would be great if we can replace him with Akinde or Ferrier. Interesting times ahead in our recruitment.

Oswell signs on a 2 year deal, dare I say we have spends?

I used to watch Sgorio and he'd score every week when it was on, hopefully he can replicate that at this level.
