Nothing spectacular for us but seems Nicky Hunt will be signed this week as cover for Perry Ng at RB.

Think that'll be the last of the permanent signings unless we can find a cheap LB willing to be cover. We may bring 1 or 2 loanees in. An LB for cover if we can't find a permanent one and potentially a winger to add competition but if we fail to add to the squad after Hunt's signed we're in big trouble if Pickering gets injured and we have no recognised LB to take over. Last season, we finished the Summer without an RB to cover Perry Ng. Soon as we signed one in the winter though, our squad looked balanced and we hit form. We can't rely on Pickering to play 46 games at LB all season and I certainly don't want us playing Nolan, Ng or Hunt at LB should he be injured either.

Think there’s an odd 0 in that valuation.
Haha, well Chris is gonna say they don't need to sell which is fair enough but that's an absurd valuation. Dale Vince would snap anyone's hand off for a million for a 25 year old. I reckon 650-800k would get him.

Last time was about setting a "no chance" price; things bit tighter but still think we'd be in no hurry to sell and as I said don't think Christian is the sort to sulk and not play if we waited for a better offer in January. So whatever he's worth we'd ask a lot.

No chance.

Think only one forward in the history of League Two has gone for more than £1.8 million (Ollie Watkins) and that was Nick Powell for an initial £3 million.

The difference between Powell and Doidge is that Powell was a highly rated 17 year old Academy product who single handedly fired a side to a miraculous promotion, whilst collecting England U19 caps along the way and started a bidding war for his services. He was a freakish talent.

Doidge has scored a remarkable total for a side who were very poor last season. But Doidge is considerably older, was mediocre at Dagenham and Redbridge in this division so for all teams know he could be a one season wonder at this level and doesn't have the pedigree that a youth product like Watkins or Powell both had.

If FGR are lucky they might get a similar fee to what Grimsby got for Omar Bogle, but £2 million? Not a chance given the circumstances.

Still, it's not as unrealistic as that Luton fan who claimed Nottingham Forest were going to sign their RB for £3 million last season... :fl:

You're not wrong but if they've scouted him properly they'd know his all-round game and attitude (why he keeps improving) which makes me think we might be able to get more than a million. Anyway, here's hoping it's all rumour.

If Doidge is worth £2M then Stockley is worth at least that.

With interest in FGR's star man, if they manage to get through the Summer without him being sold then they will have Doidged a bullet there...........

Sorry but it's pre season and I'm bored. :bg:

Green Shield Stamps, maybe. I’m amazed as to why fans think their ‘star’ player in L2 is worth big money. Go up a level and they are usually found out
Meanwhile we got buttons for Max Power who has been one of Wigan’s better players the last 3 season’s and had various bigger championship clubs after him.

A lot of any valuation is to do with financial strength of the selling club.

Should have got an extra ten percent just for the ace name, bet that shifts a few more shirts.

£2million is the price tag we reportedly stuck on Doidge in January when Cardiff and Villa were being linked.

We probably won't get it but if we don't why sell at all? He's under contract till 2020.

That’s called a ridiculous price tag used to deter clubs from circling around him. Doesn’t mean that’s his real value. 25 year-old striker in L2 who’s played in non-league for a substantial time is worth 400k at most.

It’s been a good preseason in my eyes, very active, lots of signings from start to finish, and plenty of money being spent by a multitude of teams.

2018/19 - Should be a good’un in the basement division

Indeed! Bring it on!

Based on what I can glean from almost nothing on this thread. Lincoln, County and Exeter are likely to be up there this season and followed by Mansfield, possibly us and I reckon Northampton with a stronger FGR, Cheltenham, Stevenage and Grimsby I reckon it’s going to be a cracking season.

No real idea why but I think Stevenage may be going a bit under the radar and could be the team to watch this season. Probably the wrong thread for this but who cares!

Given the inflated rates of fees I reckon that’s low. I think FGR can look for a million +. They clearly don’t need to sell and championship clubs will offer more than their worth so regardless of whether he is worth 400k or not, his ‘value’ is whatever FGR command.

Looks like Flitcroft has to get rid of somebody before he can bring in that defender, fair enough considering our wage budget is almost certainly bigger than any point last season now.

MK Dons? Bookies favourites for the title
Think MK will be there or there abouts. It may take Tisdale a bit of time to get things up to speed and I guess his biggest challenge will be to change a losing culture within the club which is not always a quick fix.

I think it will be an incredibly hard league to predict as lots of clubs have added seemingly good players.

Shay McCartan signs on a season long loan from Bradford.
Pleased with that.

Pretty proven in L2, lots of appearances at this level and he'll probably give us that 4th option up front if we need it, albeit he plays a little deeper normally.

If we can get another wide-ish player and a CM in as squad players, then we're about good to go. Might have to make do without a back-up RB because it might be a struggle to get anyone in who's unlikely to play more than 5 times this season, assuming Eardley doesn't get injured.

EDIT - Saying that, I think he played more as a striker at Accrington.

It certainly will be an incredibly open league I think, compared with the rest of England I’d say the gulf in quality between the top and bottom of League 2 is small.

I don’t think anyone can really predict how any of the relegated sides will fare, you’d expect MK and Northampton to be solid, Bury and Oldham are an unknown quantity.. Then you’ve got Tranmere who should do fairly well given their momentum.

That’s 5 sides you can’t really write off, then you add in the usual suspects like Notts Co., Mansfield, Lincoln and Swindon

You’ve also got dark horses such as Port Vale, possibly Crawley, Cheltenham etc... very very open.

I’d say the only sides that look a bit behind the rest in terms of quality are Morecambe, Macclesfield and Yeovil, apart from that I think it’s very similar.

Crawley have purchased well and I think Tranmere will also go well.

Betting on league 2 is going to be tough next season I reckon!

No chance.
I agree -- I reckon a bid of 500k will get him. Does'nt meant to say we will but we have the Bodin 400k,Gaffney 75k & Harrison 750k monies at our disposal.

Looks as though Gerrard to Carlisle is done. He's a decent lower league defender but I've never known someone think so highly about themselves. Loves a Twitter spat as well and best for all parties if he leaves. No real loss for me.

Sheridan has said that it’s just a rumour and there’s nothing in it.

Dom Telford signs for Bury - good signing that.

I was hoping we'd sign him in honesty. I reckon he'll score 15-20 goals for you lot in L2
