Jolley says we didn’t pay a fee for Vernam. Looks an even better signing now.

It certainly will be an incredibly open league I think, compared with the rest of England I’d say the gulf in quality between the top and bottom of League 2 is small.

I don’t think anyone can really predict how any of the relegated sides will fare, you’d expect MK and Northampton to be solid, Bury and Oldham are an unknown quantity.. Then you’ve got Tranmere who should do fairly well given their momentum.

That’s 5 sides you can’t really write off, then you add in the usual suspects like Notts Co., Mansfield, Lincoln and Swindon

You’ve also got dark horses such as Port Vale, possibly Crawley, Cheltenham etc... very very open.

I’d say the only sides that look a bit behind the rest in terms of quality are Morecambe, Macclesfield and Yeovil, apart from that I think it’s very similar.

I look forward to us proving you wrong

Talk of another signing for us in the next 24 hours or so.
Decisions being made on the trialists apparently, Luque maybe?
Lot of florist youngsters been with us on trial be interesting to see if any of them get offered a loan deal.
Just lacking a bit in the middle of pitch in terms younger players ie mid 20s.
Maybe a left winger too depending the formations we play.

Would have expected Vale and Chesterfield to be solid last season. We flirted around the play offs most of the season but were found wanting when injuries hit, but at least Coventry managed to go straight back up.

Vale will be in the mix.

Tom Conlan the best player on the pitch for us again last night against a Wolves XI. Hopefully we can get him signed up.

Is anyone else expecting a relegation battle or is that just us?
Carlisle should be, and I think their fans on here are expecting it. I'd not be surprised to see Yeovil and maybe Morecambe down there too. Also could see Oldham or Bury maybe just imploding and being down the bottom. Think I put Accy in 24th in last year's predictions though, so what do I know?!

Not sure if we've sorted our defence out right so sort of expecting to be hovering just above the relegation battle and dipping our toes in from time to time. Also concerned I've not identified any obvious basket cases who'll take the drop instead.

Tom Conlon signs on a 1 year contract, been very impressive in the friendlies so no surprise, was at Stevenage last season. Should give competition to Oyeleke, Kay, Pugh and Tonge.

We (Carlisle) are expecting one. Yeovil, Morecambe, Lincoln, Cheltenham and yourselves I expect to be down there as well.

Ricky Miller also finally cleared to play after an FA disciplinary issue which has prevented it so far.

Cool.

Sounds like Grimboland can be written off, and Vale in the mix.
Whoaaaaa hold your horses, I'm optimistic for a top 20 finish this season. :ds:

Realistically I'm hoping for a comfortable season of mid table consolidation after last years car crash, then hopefully a play off push in 2019/20 season.
I just worry that some of our fans won't be happy with that (not our fans on here, ones on twitter etc) and are expecting a miracle promotion this season which would be great but very unlikely in my opinion.

Not sure if we will be in the mix at the top, we should be much stronger (not that hard to be honest) than last season but a lot of new players and a new system potentially which isn't really clicking in pre season yet fully.

Might take time for us to get going but its hard to say at this point. I am happy with the signings certainly though.

I'd happily take top half mid table somewhere 10-12th for example and consider this a decent base to build on.

Lincoln with some good attacking options now with Green, Andrade, Akinde, Mccartan and Anderson (and Rhead, obvs). How do they all fit in though?

And O'Connor injured already? What's up with him?

Nope, he’s fine. Just further rehab and strengthening.

Like Bostwick, he’d be playing if they were league games.

I’d be hoping for a little more, there aren’t that many teams who shouldn’t be aiming for playoffs.

Aim higher. We went from relegation candidates to play off participants the following season.

I think it all depends on how effective our attack is. Our spine and defence look much better than last season, but we need to score more. Last season we were hoping for too many 1-0 wins and couldn't hold out most of the time. If our forwards click, then we could be top 7. If not it's mid-table for us.

I'm quite happy for everyone to write us off as relegation probables. It means no pressure while we play our way to a comfortable top ten finish.

A lot will depend on either Miller or Quigley I would say for sure. We know if fit Pope gets us around 20 goals even in a poor season. If Quigley can perform to the scoring levels he did at Wrexham or Miller can find something at this level to even just manage a third of his scoring levels the league below we will have a chance certainly.

Rather we dont go with Monty in the Kyle Walker role!

There is nothing wrong with writing teams off, it’s the same as predicting who will be in the top 7 come end of season. I much prefer people who make predictions (and ideally back it up with a bet and stated on here before the event) than the ones that keep quiet, don’t commit and then only come out to play after the event. I’ve written off Yeovil’s chances of promotion that’s it

I’m not sure this forum will have any impact on the pressure levels of Yeovil or any teams players truth be told.

The people who wrote Accrington Stanley were righty every since season except the last one.

It’s just a bit of fun after all.
