For both unfortunately their best days are behind them. Pringle has a bit of class on the ball and good delivery but no pace and is poor defensively. He’s starting pretty much every game and I’d probably try and sign him in May, depending on his wage demands.

Welsh looked good early on but we went on an awful run and he was one of the unfortunate ones to make way. He’s in the squad each week which I’m pleased about.

Pringle is one of the slowest guys i've seen on a professional football pitch.

Was a crazy signing by us.

Agreed, she’s a minger who you can tell thinks that she’s actually attractive.

I agree. I listened to a Podcast recently where she was interviewed by Luke Moore and she said that she never goes to the training ground as "I am quite attractive and I don't want to distract the players".

To be fair she probably has a point but something about her really annoys me. I think it was from her appearance on Question Time where she came across pretty badly.

She's only a CEO cos she shagged her way there, and then has the nerve to make out she's some sort of role model.

Until you can link me to the interview where she says that word for word I think it’s bullshit. We were all sceptical about her when she first arrived but she’s gone on to prove to be very good for us. Certainly doubt she’s come out with something as stupid as that considering she’s big on women not being treated like shit in this game.

Couple whispers that we’ve had a bid for Connor Jennings from a Championship club (Ipswich id guess).

Unlike Norwood he’s under contract for next season already, so it’d take a fairly sizeable amount to turn our heads.

Subscribe to the Football Ramble podcast and its on there, from a couple of months back.

To be fair to her, the way she worded it wasn't as bad as perhaps I have made out, but it was said.

Tin hat firmly on, but in the interest of balance, I don't have anything against Carolyn at all. Five or six years ago I was sceptical but I don't really recall her doing much wrong for the club in the time she's been chief exec. I like a lot of other Stags fans have the Radfords on Facebook and the image I get of Carolyn is a qualified, likeable mother succeeding in a male dominated environment. Fair play to her, if you ask me.

She does come out with some odd comments at times but in the last year or so every interview seems to be quite big about sexism etc so it would surprise me if she did say it. Either way she’s won me over with what she’s doing at our club and I’m looking forward to another picture in her new mirror overlooking the balcony once she gets today’s signing to put pen to paper :D

Some talk of Ash Taylor coming back to Tranmere. I'm not sure that another central defender is a priority and Ash often a target for the boo boys, so think unlikely, but wonder if Cobblers fans have heard anything?

Can't be a good thing that he has also become our 'boo boy'. When we first signed him I was quite pleased due to him playing at a higher level, Aberdeen, lots of games played etc, but after winning POTY last year (tbh it wasn't that hard to win after relegation) he has gone down hill. Although he has a strong physical presence and can head a ball, the reason many don't like him is mainly due to his inability to pass a ball. Although for me, the constant blaming others furiously when someone makes a mistake (despite it even be himself on occasion) when being made captain, makes him someone I don't particularly mind if he leaves.

Our two best CB's are Jordon Turnbull and Aaron Pierre, yet while the stats back this up, Taylor always seems to get in the team when he is fit - which baffles many. Hopefully our young hot prospect Jay Williams can cement a place while Ash is out injured.

Let's be honest, anyone who posts on 1FF would shag her given half the chance.

I hope that’s not going to happen. Think he’s undervalued in the scheme of things, those goals against Southport have brought him into the spotlight and think he’s capable of playing at a higher level...hopefully with Rovers.

Can't really disagree with anything you have said there, clearly you Mansfield fans are more in the know about Carolyn. I don't have anything massively against her, in fact I do have the utmost respect for her succeeding in football where barely any women do (Karen Brady and Ann Budge at Hearts the only ones that spring to mind, I am sure there are more).

My beef was only really about her brazenly showing off her wealth which I always find in quite poor taste - especially in a working class town such as Mansfield.

I think that's probably enough on the matter, back to the signings! Has Flitcroft tried to sign Charles Reece-Cook yet?

Young LB Adam Crookes has gone back to Forest.

Like Slocombe, he never played in the league just the Carabao (1) and Checkatrade (4).

That's 16 available for the Grimsby game now...

No youth players? We have had a 17 year old youth player on the bench for most games recently, even got on the pitch in our win against Exeter!

To get on the bench in the league they have to have been here for a year or something and most of ours haven't.

We tried it earlier in the season and weren't allowed. Already have Ellis Chapman, turned 18 last week, who's in the with first team so we already have had one on the bench most of the season.

Jorge Grant to Mansfield apparently on loan.

I hope their 'special relationship' with Forest for this deal is a bit more special than the £5k/week they're paying them for Tyler Walker!

From ‘Ex agent’ James Goodwin on Twitter:

“Jorge Grant is in Mansfield today to sign a six month loan deal. HEAVY investment there, if FFP applied in L2 they'd be in serious trouble.”

FFP does apply in league 2. It's why we can only afford 19 players now Doidge is back.

55% of turnover FFP.

Grant has been heavily rumoured and probably would have already signed if Forest didn’t have manager troubles.

The ‘ex agent’ is not particularly keen on Mansfield but who is?

Apparently he wanted to go back to County to help them, but fatman has pissed Forest off so they're not interested. Would be a good signing - decent money though!

We always get a bad rep in press and folk "little Mansfield" syndrome

Surely means Hamilton is going? You have to play Grant on the left to get the best out of him and I’m sure that’s where he plays now.

Grant really ought to push for a permanent move from Forest. He probably should’ve left last summer rather than sign that three year deal. He’s very good and very talented but needs to be the main man and, apart from Notts, I can’t see anyone else doing that when he’s only there on loan.

The opportunity is there to be the main man, we haven't really got a stand out player.

Hamilton has played a few different positions. Would be happier to let him go if we bring Grant in.

To be fair his best position would probably be as a proper number ten, but not many clubs down here play that way.

If you get the Grant of the second half of last season and who Luton seem to have had then it’s a decent signing, if it’s the Grant of his first year with us then he’s the best player in the league. Genuinely kind of interested to see whether that was the sort of weird purple patch players have and then can’t replicate.

Given the ineffectiveness of the forwards maybe he might push CJ even further up? Or maybe grant starts further up?

Wouldn’t be surprised to CJ at forest, but then again is there much difference between CJ and grant?

In regards to FFP and budgets. We'll still be getting rid of a few before the end of Jan. Diamond retired earlier in the season, Sterling-James is on his way out (probably back to Solihull), Butcher will be surplus to requirements if Grant comes, Anderson will go i would've thought.

If Butcher & Anderson leave, that will be a big boost, they are on massive wages & literally doing nothing,

Grant really doesn't have particularly blistering pace and I can't recall him taking on and beating a man very often at all. This led some of our fans to claim he would go 'missing' in games.

But what he does have is an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time, the ability to be able to grab a goal from nothing, and an excellent free-kick. If he gets a sight of goal, from a dead ball or open play, from anything within 25 yards, he'll usually get it on target.

Butcher and Anderson together are well over 5k p/w together we desperately need to get rid.

We need a CB too, Mirfin is not ready yet and our only cover is somebody promoted from the youth.
