Blair Turgott has signed. We needed a pacy wide man, we never replaced Odubajo's pace. Hendon has worked with him before. But he struggled for games at Coventry last season, not sure how I feel about this.

Burgess was good against us last season, kind of what you'd expect a 6'5 lower league centre-back to be but good all the same. Find it weird Posh paid a fee for him last year and are offloading him already though at his age so I'd imagine either their new manager really doesn't want him or Pompey are paying decent money.

He was on loan with us last season. Didn't score a single goal and will be remembered for trying to clothesline a referee and then getting an 11 game ban for it.

Very average league 2 striker. We had him as well. Scored a few but Im personally glad we did not sign him.

Always thought Calvin was a good footballer, but not a striker. Surprised he's not ended up playing on the wing. Found himself out wide in a couple games i saw him and he was good on the ball, could beat players and put a good cross in, got a few assists... just can't finish to save his life.

There's injury prone and there's snapping your ACL thanks to a dodgy challenge in a pre-season friendly.

Burgess is good, I'd like him at Notts.

Not a shock to see us for younger players, we need to give them time, both IMO average at the very best - Which usually means a season of midtable if we're lucky.

Looks like we're not gonna splash any money after what happened to us last season when we signed big name players on large wages in their 30's, who ended up being awful value for money.

Underwhelming signings, but signings that need to be given time to prove themselves.

Encouraging, fee has been agreed and will sign once back from hols.

Pompey will be a force this year imo. Will deserve their favourites tag and bookie price

We've signed Marc Laird on a one year deal from Tranmere, a player Sturrock worked with at Southend so hopefully he knows how to get the best out of him. Also adds experience which we were seriously lacking last season.
Marc Laird had one of the worst debuts I've ever seen from someone in a Rovers shirt. After that, while tending to make a few howlers, he had more good games than bad. One of those players I'd rather have hung onto, but won't lose too much sleep about him going and hope things work out for him in Somerset.

Now that Paul McCallum has signed for us, I doubt Ollie Palmer will be joining as we now have 2 targetmen as strikers.

I believe we're waiting to see if David Mooney will stay with us or join either Colchester or Stevenage (From what I've heard).

Hendon has also confirmed that two more players should sign for us next week.

We now need:
1 left back,
2 (Maybe 1 depending on David Mooney) Strikers
1 Centre midfielder (Depending on whether Josh Wright or Marvin Bartley stay)
1 Winger
1 Backup CB/RB/Utility player.

We will not have a big squad like we did last season it seems, we're operating on a much much smaller budget than last season.

Yet we still have the 5 highest paid players in the division on our books:

Darius Henderson - £10k
Jobi McAnuff - £7k
Dean Cox - £5k
Jay Simpson - £5k
Shane Lowry - £4k

:eek::confused:

So, I'm guessing those 5 Orient players you'll be trying to get rid of then?

The local rag saying were interested in ex Newcastle player Andy Campbell any good?
I assume you mean Adam Campbell, who they've recently released?

If so, we had him on loan the season before last, and he played about 20mins when we were like 4-0 down. He looked half decent, and although he hasn't hit any sort of potential, he's still fairly young.

He's small, but he was quite strong, and he also looked pacy.

I doubt anyone will come in for McAnuff or Henderson as they're 32 & 33 and on stupid money.

The others will go for the right price, but I can't see anyone wanting/being able to pay between £300k-£500 in Leagues One or Two because A Championship team would be mad to spend that much on backup players (Which is what they would be at that level).

Scott Doe has rejected a new contract with us which I assume means he has another club lined up, probably in this league. Luton is the obvious choice but I'm not sure they're in the market for a CB.

Can't imagine that we are, we've already got three genuine first team quality centre backs and a young 4th choice on the way in. The only way it would make sense is if we intended to play Cuthbert at right back, but both Still and Cuthbert have said that he is viewed as a central defender so that seems unlikely...

He's probably been our most consistently good player for the last 6 seasons and really shouldn't have trouble finding another club. He's going to be really tough to replace (probably the most difficult yet). I can't see him signing somewhere in this league to sit on the bench.

We are in the market for a couple of centre backs and should be making signings next week. Could be us I suppose.

We need about 18 defenders so I'd like to think it would be us but I imagine moving to the South West is a stumbling block.

Just the sort of CB we need though and I am sure Tisdale is aware of him.

I'd be very surprised if we didn't go with 3 centre halves this season, so we'll need a first reserve, although I hate the 3-5-2 formation.

He's from around the SW area I think. Played in Swindon's youth team. Might not be as big a block as you may think.
