Seen it all now - a right back with a youtube highlights video!

5 goals and 7 assists last season from right back apparently. Some good goals in there too. Seems a more attacking full back than John Still's usual signings so that's nice. 6ft+ which is always a bonus.

As with every signing ever made by any club ever, there were apparently lots of other deals on the table for him, both in Scotland and in England. It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts down here.

Also interesting to see if this means the end of our attempts to sign Michael Harriman. A shame if so, but both are similar ages and will want first team football so I'm not sure signing both is very likely.

As above don't know enough about Scottish football to say whether it's a good or a bad signing. On paper he looks decent given his career and that vid. Let's hope so.

Just watched that - the lad can play. Although I'm always a bit cynical when it comes to Youtube clips.

Reading that small bio - he was knocking on the door of the full Scotland squad.

Also, another signal that we're going 3-5-2 this season.

Sean Newton had some cracking highlights too, 20 assists and 10 goals or something. He was chuffing wank.

Newton was good at Conference level though. League One obviously too much for him, probably not that surprising for a defender who can't really defend.

How impressed you are by O'Donnell's stats probably depends on what English league you think the Scottish Prem is equivalent to I suppose. Football is weird up there so I have no idea how the quality compares.

Is that the player (now?) at Lincoln? Scored a cracking free kick against us a few years ago.

Dean Brill is in the Europa League this season. :bg:

He's just signed for Wrexham, but yeah he was at Lincoln for a few years. I think he had the highest number of assists in the league the year we won it with Benson second.

Ha! Yeah I was thinking that, as measures of quality go that's more than a little worrying!

Inverness Caley Thistle's squad is chock-full of ex-League 2 players and they finished 3rd and won the Scottish Cup.

Looks like Gill Swerts may be signing for us after deciding he fancies playing in England instead of Holland/Belgium for a change.

'"Yes, next week Notts begin preparing for the upcoming season. Then I hope to join it."

I like his name.

Seems very meh to me, he's been at Accrington for the past two years and is getting on a bit. Seems to be a like for like swap for Beevers.

He's football league quality that we haven't had for years. He's far better than beevers, he's always impressed when he's played against us.

What a signing.....

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/darlington/13346460.Thompson_leaves_Darlington/

DARLINGTON stalwart Andrew Thompson is leaving the club after accepting a job offer in the Football League.
Quakers’ long-serving kitman is to leave his hometown club in order to take up a position with Stevenage in League Two.
He said: “I have left my role as kitman at DFC to take up the kit managers’ position at Stevenage.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, Darlington are the club I supported as a kid and still do now.
“But I could not let the chance to go back into full-time football, and more importantly back into the Football League pass me by. Teddy Sheringham is the manager at Stevenage and that was a factor as well.

Arguable. He's been bloody useless whenever we've played Accrington.

Think he's well past it.

Is Kit man actually a job title? Our groundsman does ours

He's a kit manager :err:
We didn't have a kit man last year, Westley didn't want to waste the budget so the players were expected to wash their own kit. Sheringham thinks professional footballers should have their kit washed for them so enter Andrew Thompson.

Coming down from Darlington for the job too, wonder how much it pays!

Our goalkeeping coach Kevin Pilkington washes our kit as far as I'm aware.

I don't think any of the fanbases at any of the clubs he has played at, including Bolton Wanderers, have thought that he was any good for them.

Mansfield's team, apart from maybe their strikers, is fucking terrible.

Absolute scattergun stuff from Mansfield. Adam Murray is as shrewd as Shaun Derry by the looks of it.

Tafazolli and Collins is a quality centre back partnership for league two. Taff on his day is one of the best in the league and will certainly go on to play higher. Marsden and Benning who need to prove themselves but have bags of potential.

Jack Thomas in midfield who is simply going to net us some serious money and is only 18 alongside Chapman who is decent for League Two with Nathan Thomas and Reggie Lambe on the wings.

Dare we say more about our strikeforce? Green and Westcarr.

Add Price/Loach into the equation between the sticks and that is a decent looking side in League two.

I am immediately suspicious of anyone who is really good 'on their day'.

Put it this way - of those, only a fit Green, Thomas and Collins would I consider at Notts - and we currently have half a team and just got relegated.

It's like the summer of 09 when they tried to convince us that a side consisting of Gary Mills, Ollie Hotchkiss and Rob Duffy being led by David Holdsworth was capable of winning the Conference. Never going to happen.
