Luke Rooney has signed for Crawley apparently. He's one of the most frustrating players you are ever likely to see. Pops up with occasional moments of real quality, the other 89.5 minutes of a game he'll spend giving the ball away and being crap.

Wants to play centrally but he was never able to establish himself there for us as he's too weak/slow to play deep and not good enough to build around as a #10.

Reasonable enough squad player for a mid-table League Two team, if he's first choice though I would suggest that it's not a great sign.

how bad is he?

Played only three times for us, average vs Fleetwood, cost us at least a point vs Barnsley thanks to errors and an awkward display and he was an aberration vs Rochdale, basically passing the ball from a goal kick to Calvin Andrew who scored. All those games were in the first month of the season then he was bumped off on loan to Burton's bench after conceding 9 in an U21 game vs Burnley. So yeah, terrible.

The Mansfield-Notts County rivalry is truly reaching boiling point here.

Not even a rivalry, not really sure what to call it.

Forest have Derby and we have Chesterfield, but neither us or especially forest are bothered about poor county, so they get stuck in limbo. Leicester don't really see to have an arch rival so maybe they could try one with them?

Luke Rooney is indeed a very frustrating player.
He looked a player with genuine potential when he started out with us.
I believe he was badly advised and left us too soon and joined the inbreds.
it was downhill from there and he has now had eight clubs in three years.
I still believe that there is a decent player in there and perhaps if he can settle at a club for a while he may yet prove it.

Forest are our rivals, we've just not been at the same level as them in about 20 years. If we were consistently playing them the same amount of times as they face Derby, they'd care about us just as much. If anything, the whole 'we don't care about you, hahaha clownty, let use tell you how much we don't care about you, sadpies' is all the evidence you need that they really do care about us - that and the fact they have a pitch invasion if they beat us in a friendly or league cup match. You can't have the closest grounds in England and not be local rivals.

But I digress, I quite like not having any real rivals at our level - they seem tiresome to the point it's obligatory that you have to focus on them as much as your own team.

Jon Meades has signed for us. I know he had injury problems at Oxford, but if he's fully fit now I'm very pleased.

Good stuff, we now have a decent player for every position. Just need a bit of cover for CB and Keeper. If Stephens signs then it's just a keeper although it would be good to get Clifford back

Delighted with the signing of Dembele.

Even more pleasing when you've pinched him from your rivals, too.

Perhaps, just perhaps, he's a massive fan of 'our' Calv's seismic winner in the land of milk n mutton?

I like him already!!....might even sponsor his Marigolds.

I don't think they will. Mid table at best.

Well I reckon we'll do your lot atleast once this season - providing your pitch doesn't turn into a swimming pool.

That game was the biggest farce I've ever seen. Ronnie Henry is a dickhead... No wonder he plays for Stevenage now.

You were lucky it was in that condition to be honest. The form we were in at that point, we'd have beaten you for 5 or 6 in normal weather conditions.

:fish: definitely, your amazing form shone through over those two lowkey, definitely-not-controversial matches in that Christmas period.

I maintain, you will not earn more points than we will in our two matches this season. Take it to the betting thread if you will.

Bira's a good signing for Barnet. A very solid defender, who's particularly strong in the air, just don't play him at left back! He came to us during our last season at League One level and he didn't look out of place at all, for some reason he barely featured in the first half of last season but played a more prominent role during the run in and he didn't let us down.

Only real negative is that he's the sort of defender that seems to have an error in him, whether it be a lapse in concentration, a sloppy pass or taking his eye off the ball at a key moment, fortunately he's got enough in his locker to recover from these errors most of the time.

Phil Wallace revealed we had an option to keep Bira but chose against it because he'd have been due a pay increase. By the sound of things if we did subsequently go back and offer him a new deal it'd have been in line with his previous contract so it's understandable why he'd turn that down.

Can't imagine Barnet, or ourselves for that matter, will sign a better defender this transfer window.

Until the horrific leg break at your place we were absolutely battering you. Had Nurse not been a horrible dirty bastard we'd have won that game 4-0 at least.
