It's lovely that fans of other clubs are so concerned about our side. It restores my faith in the human race. Truly beautiful stuff.

It also allows me to be free to remain quietly happy with the rebuilding. Certainly a damn sight better than last year's horrible rabble.

I can't tell whether 'Dare we say more about our strikeforce? Green and Westcarr.' is a cry for help or someone implying that this is actually a good strikeforce...

Seems odd to me the main league 2 experts are the ones who have been out of it for a few years.

We have seen many good teams do a lot worse than they should have and a lot of bad teams do better than they should. At this stage would be ridiculous to pass judgement on any other squad right now but I'm happy with current recruitment.

To be fair, Westcarr is shit though.

He may well be but I don't think he's going to make the starting 11 personally.

Notts county fans are worse than chesterfield, i can't see anything about their squad that screams "good league two side" and theyre were obviously too shit for league one. I think county will be the surprise strugglers along with Orient. For such a big club its embarrassing theyre in league two again, yet still prefer them to forest!

Personally not convinced our squad is all that good but on paper we have an much improved team player for player so time will tell...

If we line up with something like this and actually try to play football for once... it will be an improvement on last year.

----Lambe Green Thomas

Clements Thomas Chapman

Benning Tafazolli Collins Hunt

-----------------Price

I trust murray and personally see a mid table finish as huge improvement and a sign were going in the right direction, if any stags fans are expecting us to do a wycombe and push for the very top then I'm sorry but i don't think were good enough yet, we're slowly building and changing the clubs philosophy.

I don't think our side is THAT bad. Collins, Hunt, Chapman, Westcarr & Green should all be solid if not fantastic League 2 players. Add to that the younger players of Tafazoli, Thomas & Clements who are all improving the more games they play.

Think there should be enough there to be mid table which to be honest, I think all Stags fans would be ecstatic with after last season.

The signing of hunt is very meh.

Given that we are probably going to be aiming for a midtable finish this season we are hardly going to be full of superstars. Beevers was found out for pace, so I'll be interested on how he is on this front.

Our defence is maybe a little better than last season, and our attack has "potential" but green is a gamble, Beardsley could easily go wrong and westcarr could go either way.

What all this talk about above about other clubs is odd. I'm not overly bothered about other sides.

We're literally on a forum designed to talk about other clubs here, pal.

And you're so good at it too. Particularly you Notts boys, the shite standard football equivalent to 'Comic Book Guy', fingering your facial growth whilst considering the world a twat.

Our team may prove to be shit again for the 118th consecutive year, but we'll laugh through it, we'll cry through it, then we'll cry some more, then want the manager out, then probably dead, and then probably want to burn down the stands, but through it all they'll have whisked us through the usual routine cos they understand that we're sado-masochistic fuckpipes that absolutely adore this kind of shite year on year.

It's misery therapy for us folk that have it all.

Plenty of clubs at this level who are as big as or bigger than County at the moment so not that embarrassing really.

We're only a big club historically and from our name etc., our crowds are basically the level of a League One/League Two yo-yo club sadly.

Our squad will be more than good enough for us to avoid being bottom 5 all season again. I'd take 14th now aslong as we play some attacking football!

But until you've sat down and read a teamsheet that lists your front 2 as Rhead and Oliver you won't understand that Green and Westcarr looks like Pele & Maradona, Messi & Ronaldo or dare I even say Richards & Bingham.

Rumour has it that we will sign "somebody" before the season starts. Feels like the bottom of the barrel is coming in to view. Not knocking the club, but I am sure that when the mystery player or players get announced they will be "exactly what we have been waiting for" and there were other clubs in the running. Does that sound familiar ?

What a signing.....

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/darlington/13346460.Thompson_leaves_Darlington/

DARLINGTON stalwart Andrew Thompson is leaving the club after accepting a job offer in the Football League.
Quakers’ long-serving kitman is to leave his hometown club in order to take up a position with Stevenage in League Two.
He said: “I have left my role as kitman at DFC to take up the kit managers’ position at Stevenage.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, Darlington are the club I supported as a kid and still do now.
“But I could not let the chance to go back into full-time football, and more importantly back into the Football League pass me by. Teddy Sheringham is the manager at Stevenage and that was a factor as well.

Hope you look after Thommo. He is a true darlo legend. Lives and breathes the club and was there through all our admins and our revival. Hope it works out for him down with you, at the end of the day he's a really nice genuine bloke.

Don't worry Mansfield fans, at least Westcarr is more prolific than the prolific James Spencer for Notts County.

We had a long saga over a mystery player last summer. Contract negations with a player the fans ' will have heard of' and who 'will excite them'. Turned out to be Alex Marrow.

Does seem very odd this close season some have gone early for sure but considering pre season starts next week for many a lot do seem a bit light on troops.

I know County have a subscription of defectors coming from the foreign legion but many others just seem to have let it slip their mind.

I wasn't wanting to pass judgement on Mr Spencer as not being derogatory but I have never heard of the guy but they've gone on about him so much thought I'd look him up.

He may be just that good but he's played 40 games in his first 3 seasons as a pro (and we're supposed to be worried about our main man being a crock) and amassed a mighty 7 goals. You just can't argue with stats like that.

Can't really count his few games last season to be fair, we rushed him back out of desperation and he was basically playing on one leg.

Meh our first recruit will be signed this afternoon. Have a little patience. When they sign then you can all say "who" or talk about scraping the barrell.
